A Promised Ruler From Betlehem
1. Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
1. "(4:14) Maintenant, fille de troupes, rassemble tes troupes! On nous assiège; Avec la verge on frappe sur la joue le juge d`Israël."
1. "Koa mivory ho andiany ianao, ry zanakavavin' ny andiany! Nanao fahirano antsika izy; hamely tsorakazo ny takolaky ny mpitsaran' ny Isiraely izy."
2. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
2. (5:1) Et toi, Bethléhem Éphrata, Petite entre les milliers de Juda, De toi sortira pour moi Celui qui dominera sur Israël, Et dont l`origine remonte aux temps anciens, Aux jours de l`éternité.
2. "Fa, ianao, ry Betlehema Efrata, na dia kely tsy tokony ho isan' ny arivon' ny Joda akory ianao, dia avy aminao no hivoahan' izay anankiray ho Mpanapaka ho Ahy ao amin' ny Isiraely; hatry ny fahagola no efa nivoahany, dia hatrizay hatrizay."
3. Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
3. (5:2) C`est pourquoi il les livrera Jusqu`au temps où enfantera celle qui doit enfanter, Et le reste de ses frères Reviendra auprès des enfants d`Israël.
3. "Koa dia hatolony izy, ambara-piavin' ny fotoana hiterahan' izay anankiray hiteraka; ary izay sisa amin' ny rahalahiny hiverina ho any amin' ny zanak' Isiraely."
4. And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
4. (5:3) Il se présentera, et il gouvernera avec la force de l`Éternel, Avec la majesté du nom de l`Éternel, son Dieu: Et ils auront une demeure assurée, Car il sera glorifié jusqu`aux extrémités de la terre.
4. Ary hitsangana izy ka hiandry amin' ny herin' i Jehovah, amin' ny fiandrianan' ny anaran' i Jehovah Andriamaniny, ka handry fahizay ireny, fa izao dia ho lehibe hatrany amin' ny faran' ny tany Izy.
Deliverance and Destruction
5. And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
5. (5:4) C`est lui qui ramènera la paix. Lorsque l`Assyrien viendra dans notre pays, Et qu`il pénétrera dans nos palais, Nous ferons lever contre lui sept pasteurs Et huit princes du peuple.
5. "Ary Izy no ho fiadanana; raha tonga eto amin' ny tanintsika ny Asyriana ka miditra ao amin' ny lapantsika, dia hanangana mpiandry ondry fito sy mpanapaka valo hisakana azy isika."
6. And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
6. (5:5) Ils feront avec l`épée leur pâture du pays d`Assyrie Et du pays de Nimrod au dedans de ses portes. Il nous délivrera ainsi de l`Assyrien, Lorsqu`il viendra dans notre pays, Et qu`il pénétrera sur notre territoire.
6. "Ary handany ny tany Asyria amin' ny sabatra sy ny tanin' i Nimroda eo am-bavahadiny ireo; toy izany no hanafahany antsika amin' ny Asyriana, raha tonga amin' ny tanintsika sady manitsaka ato amin' ny fari-tanintsika izy."
7. And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
7. (5:6) Le reste de Jacob sera au milieu des peuples nombreux Comme une rosée qui vient de l`Éternel, Comme des gouttes d`eau sur l`herbe: Elles ne comptent pas sur l`homme, Elles ne dépendent pas des enfants des hommes.
7. Ary izay sisa amin' i Jakoba dia ho ao amin' ny firenena maro, tahaka ny ando avy amin' i Jehovah sy tahaka ny ranonorana eny amin' ny ahitra, izay tsy miandry olona na miandry ny zanak' olombelona.
8. And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
8. (5:7) Le reste de Jacob sera parmi les nations, Au milieu des peuples nombreux, Comme un lion parmi les bêtes de la forêt, Comme un lionceau parmi les troupeaux de brebis: Lorsqu`il passe, il foule et déchire, Et personne ne délivre.
8. "Ary izay sisa amin' i Jakoba dia ho ao amin' ny Jentilisa ao afovoan' ny firenena maro tahaka ny liona ao amin' ny biby any an' ala, tahaka ny liona tanora ao amin' ny andian' ny ondry aman' osy; raha mamaky eo izy, dia manitsakitsaka sy mamiravira, ka tsy misy mahavonjy."
9. Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
9. (5:8) Que ta main se lève sur tes adversaires, Et que tous tes ennemis soient exterminés!
9. Hingaina amin' ny rafinao ny tananao, ary ho ringana ny fahavalonao rehetra.
10. And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:
10. "(5:9) En ce jour-là, dit l`Éternel, J`exterminerai du milieu de toi tes chevaux, Et je détruirai tes chars;"
10. "Ary izao no hiseho amin' izany andro izany, hoy Jehovah, haringako tsy ho eo aminao intsony ny soavalinao, ary hofonganiko ny kalesinao;"
11. And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
11. "(5:10) J`exterminerai les villes de ton pays, Et je renverserai toutes tes forteresses;"
11. "Hofoanako ny tanàna amin' ny taninao ary harodako ny tanànanao mimanda rehetra;"
12. And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
12. "(5:11) J`exterminerai de ta main les enchantements, Et tu n`auras plus de magiciens;"
12. Hofoanako tsy hisy amin' ny tananao ny fankatovanao, ary tsy hanana mpanandro intsony ianao.
13. Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.
13. "(5:12) J`exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles et tes statues, Et tu ne te prosterneras plus devant l`ouvrage de tes mains;"
13. "Hofoanako tsy hisy aminao koa ny sarin-javatrao voasokitra, sy ny tsangambaton-tsampinao izay eo aminao; ary tsy hiankohoka eo anatrehan' ny asan' ny tananao intsony ianao."
14. And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.
14. (5:13) J`exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles d`Astarté, Et je détruirai tes villes.
14. Hongotako tsy ho eo aminao ny Aserahanao, dia horavako ny tananànao.
15. And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
15. (5:14) J`exercerai ma vengeance avec colère, avec fureur, sur les nations Qui n`ont pas écouté.
15. Ary amin' ny fahatezerana sy ny fahavinirana no hamaliako ny jentilisa, dia izay tsy mihaino.
