Chapter 5
1. And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2. And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
2. Puis, ayant ouvert la bouche, il les enseigna, et dit:

3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
3. Heureux les pauvres en esprit, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
3. Sambatra ny malahelo am-panahy, fa azy ny fanjakan’ny lanitra.
4. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
4. Heureux les affligés, car ils seront consolés!
4. Sambatra ny ory, fa izy no hampiononina.
5. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
5. Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre!
5. "Sambatra ny malemy fanahy; fa izy no handova ny tany."
6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
6. Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés!
6. "Sambatra ny noana sy mangetaheta ny fahamarinana, fa izy no hovokisana;"
7. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
7. Heureux les miséricordieux, car ils obtiendront miséricorde!
7. Sambatra ny miantra, fa izy no hiantrana.
8. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
8. Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu!
8. Sambatra ny madio am-po, fa izy no hahita an’Andriamanitra.
9. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
9. Heureux ceux qui procurent la paix, car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu!
9. Sambatra ny mpampihavana, fa izy no hatao hoe zanak’Andriamanitra.
10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
10. Heureux ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
10. Sambatra izay enjehina noho ny fahamarinana, fa azy ny fanjakan’ny lanitra.
11. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
11. Heureux serez-vous, lorsqu`on vous outragera, qu`on vous persécutera et qu`on dira faussement de vous toute sorte de mal, à cause de moi.
11. Sambatra ianareo, raha haratsian’ny olona sy enjehiny ary asiany izay teny ratsy rehetra hitenenany lainga anareo noho ny amiko.
12. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
12. "Réjouissez-vous et soyez dans l`allégresse, parce que votre récompense sera grande dans les cieux; car c`est ainsi qu`on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous."
12. "Mifalia sy miravoravoa ianareo, fa lehibe ny valim-pitianareo any an-danitra; fa toy izany ihany no nanenjehany ny mpaminany izay talohanareo."
13. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
13. Vous êtes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on? Il ne sert plus qu`à être jeté dehors, et foulé aux pieds par les hommes.
13. "Ianareo no fanasin’ny tany; fa raha ny fanasina no tonga matsatso, inona indray no hahasira azy? Tsy misy heriny hanaovana na inona na inona intsony izy, fa hariana any ivelany ka hohitsahin’ny olona."
14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
14. "Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée;"
14. Ianareo no fahazavan’izao tontolo izao. Tsy azo afenina izay tanàna miorina eo an-tampon-kavoana.
15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
15. et on n`allume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le chandelier, et elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
15. Ary koa, tsy misy olona mandrehitra jiro ka mametraka azy ao ambanin’ny vata famarana, fa apetrany eo amin’ny fanaovanjiro, ka dia mazava amin’izay rehetra ao an-trano izany.
16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
16. Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu`ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu`ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.
16. Aoka hazava eo imason’ny olona toy izany koa ny fahazavanareo, mba hahitany ny asa tsara ataonareo ka hankalazany ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra.
17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
17. "Ne croyez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la loi ou les prophètes; je suis venu non pour abolir, mais pour accomplir."
17. "Aza heverina fa tonga Aho handrava ny lalàna, na ny mpaminany; tsy tonga Aho handrava, fa hanatanteraka."
18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
18. Car, je vous le dis en vérité, tant que le ciel et la terre ne passeront point, il ne disparaîtra pas de la loi un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre, jusqu`à ce que tout soit arrivé.
18. Fa lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa: Mandra-pahafoanan’ny lanitra sy ny tany, dia tsy hisy ho foana akory amin’ny lalàna, na dia litera iray, na tendron-tsoratra iray aza, mandra-pahatanterak’izy rehetra.
19. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
19. "Celui donc qui supprimera l`un de ces plus petits commandements, et qui enseignera aux hommes à faire de même, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux; mais celui qui les observera, et qui enseignera à les observer, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux."
19. "Ary amin’izany, na zovy na zovy no hamaha ny anankiray amin’ireo didy madinika indrindra ireo ka hampianatra ny olona toy izany, dia hatao hoe kely indrindra amin’ny fanjakan’ny lanitra izy; fa na zovy na zovy no hankatò sy hampianatra ireo, dia izy no hatao hoe lehibe amin’ny fanjakan’ny lanitra."
20. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
20. Car, je vous le dis, si votre justice ne surpasse celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n`entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
20. Fa lazaiko aminareo: Raha tsy hihoatra noho ny an’ny mpanoradalàna sy ny Fariseo ny fahamarinanareo, dia tsy hiditra amin’ny fanjakan’ny lanitra mihitsy ianareo.
21. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
21. "Vous avez entendu qu`il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne tueras point; celui qui tuera mérite d`être puni par les juges."
21. "Efa renareo fa voalaza tamin’ny ntaolo hoe: “Aza mamono olona” ; fa izay mamono olona dia mendrika hohelohina amin’ny fitsarana."
22. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
22. "Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère mérite d`être puni par les juges; que celui qui dira à son frère: Raca! mérite d`être puni par le sanhédrin; et que celui qui lui dira: Insensé! mérite d`être puni par le feu de la géhenne."
22. "Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo hoe: Izay rehetra tezitezi-poana amin’ny rahalahiny dia mendrika hohelohina amin’ny fitsarana; ary na zovy na zovy no hanao amin’ny rahalahiny hoe: Olom-poana ialahy, dia mendrika hohelohina amin’ny Synedriona; ary na zovy na zovy no hanao hoe: Foka ialahy, dia mendrika ho ao amin’ny helo mirehitra afo."
23. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
23. Si donc tu présentes ton offrande à l`autel, et que là tu te souviennes que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
23. Ary amin’izany, raha mitondra ny fanatitrao ho eo amin’ny alitara ianao, ary eo no mahatsiaro fa ny rahalahinao manana alahelo aminao,
24. Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
24. "laisse là ton offrande devant l`autel, et va d`abord te réconcilier avec ton frère; puis, viens présenter ton offrande."
24. Dia avelao eo anoloan’ny alitara ny fanatitrao, ka mandehana aloha, ataovy izay hihavananao amin’ny rahalahinao, ary rehefa miverina, dia vao atero ny fanatitrao.
25. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
25. Accorde-toi promptement avec ton adversaire, pendant que tu es en chemin avec lui, de peur qu`il ne te livre au juge, que le juge ne te livre à l`officier de justice, et que tu ne sois mis en prison.
25. Mihavàna faingana amin’ilay manana ady aminao, raha mbola miara-dia aminy ianao, fandrao ilay manana ady aminao hanolotra anao amin’ny mpitsara, ary ny mpitsara kosa hanolotra anao amin’ny manampahefana, ka hatao ao an-tranomaizina ianao.
26. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
26. Je te le dis en vérité, tu ne sortiras pas de là que tu n`aies payé le dernier quadrant.
26. Lazaiko aminao marina tokoa: Tsy ho afaka ao mihitsy ianao, ambara-pandoanao ny variraiventy farany indrindra.
27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
27. Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: Tu ne commettras point d`adultère.
27. Efa renareo fa voalaza tamin' ny ntaolo hoe: “Aza mijangajanga”.
28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
28. Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter a déjà commis un adultère avec elle dans son coeur.
28. Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo fa izay rehetra mijery vehivavy hila azy dia efa nijangajanga taminy tam-pony sahady.
29. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
29. "Si ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu`un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne."
29. "Fa raha ny masonao ankavanana no manafintohina anao, dia esory hiala izy, ka ario ho afaka aminao; fa mahasoa anao na dia very aza ny iray momba ny tenanao, ka tsy ny tenanao rehetra no hariana any amin’ny helo."
30. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30. "Et si ta main droite est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la et jette-la loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu`un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier n`aille pas dans la géhenne."
30. " Ary raha ny tananao ankavanana no manafintohina anao, dia tapaho izy, ka ario ho afaka aminao; fa mahasoa anao na dia very aza ny iray momba ny tenanao, ka tsy ny tenanao rehetra no hariana any amin’ny helo."
31. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
31. Il a été dit: Que celui qui répudie sa femme lui donne une lettre de divorce.
31. Ary voalaza hoe: Na zovy na zovy no misaotra ny vadiny, dia aoka izy hanome an-dravehivavy taratasy fisaoram-bady.
32. But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
32. Mais moi, je vous dis que celui qui répudie sa femme, sauf pour cause d`infidélité, l`expose à devenir adultère, et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée commet un adultère.
32. "Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo hoe: Izay rehetra misaotra ny vadiny afa-tsy noho ny fahavetavetana ihany dia mampijangajanga azy; ary na zovy na zovy no hanambady izay voasaotra, dia mijangajanga."
33. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
33. Vous avez encore appris qu`il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne te parjureras point, mais tu t`acquitteras envers le Seigneur de ce que tu as déclaré par serment.
33. Ary koa, efa renareo fa voalaza tamin’ny ntaolo hoe: Aza mianian-tsy tò, fa efao amin’i Jehovah ny fianiananao.
34. But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
34. "Mais moi, je vous dis de ne jurer aucunement, ni par le ciel, parce que c`est le trône de Dieu;"
34. "Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo hoe: Aza mianiana akory; na amin’ny lanitra, fa sezafiandrianan’Andriamanitra izany;"
35. Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
35. "ni par la terre, parce que c`est son marchepied; ni par Jérusalem, parce que c`est la ville du grand roi."
35. "Na amin’ny tany, fa fitoeran-tongony izany; na amin’i Jerosalema, fa tanànan’ny Mpanjaka lehibe izany."
36. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
36. Ne jure pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux rendre blanc ou noir un seul cheveu.
36. "Aza mianiana amin’ny lohanao; fa tsy mahay mahafotsy, na mahamainty na dia singam-bolo iray akory aza ianao."
37. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
37. "Que votre parole soit oui, oui, non, non; ce qu`on y ajoute vient du malin."
37. "Fa aoka ny teninareo ho Eny, eny; Tsia, tsia; fa izay mihoatra noho izany dia avy amin’ilay ratsy."
38. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
38. Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: oeil pour oeil, et dent pour dent.
38. Efa renareo fa voalaza hoe: “Maso solon’ny maso, ary nify solon’ny nify”.
39. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
39. Mais moi, je vous dis de ne pas résister au méchant. Si quelqu`un te frappe sur la joue droite, présente-lui aussi l`autre.
39. "Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo hoe: Aza manohitra izay manisy ratsy anareo; fa na zovy na zovy no mamely tehamaina ny takolakao ankavanana, atolory azy koa ny anankiray."
40. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
40. Si quelqu`un veut plaider contre toi, et prendre ta tunique, laisse-lui encore ton manteau.
40. Ary izay te-hiady aminao ka te-haka ny akanjonao dia avelao ho azy koa ny lambanao.
41. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
41. Si quelqu`un te force à faire un mille, fais-en deux avec lui.
41. Ary na zovy na zovy no hanery anao handeha maily iray, mandehana miaraka aminy maily roa.
42. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
42. Donne à celui qui te demande, et ne te détourne pas de celui qui veut emprunter de toi.
42. "Omeo izay mangataka aminao; ary aza ilaozana mihodina izay te-hisambotra aminao."
43. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
43. Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi.
43. Efa renareo fa voalaza hoe: “Tiava ny namanao” ary mankahalà ny fahavalonao.
44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
44. Mais moi, je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent et qui vous persécutent,
44. Fa Izaho kosa milaza aminareo hoe: Tiava ny fahavalonareo, misaora izay manozona anareo, asio soa izay mankahala anareo ary mivavaha ho an’izay manao tsinontsinona sy manenjika anareo,
45. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
45. "afin que vous soyez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes."
45. "Mba ho tonga zanaky ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra ianareo; fa Izy mampiposaka ny masoandrony amin’ny ratsy fanahy sy ny tsara fanahy ary mampilatsaka ny ranonorana amin’ny marina sy ny tsy marina."
46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
46. Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous? Les publicains aussi n`agissent-ils pas de même?
46. Fa raha izay tia anareo ihany no tianareo, inona no valim-pitia azonareo? Moa na dia ny mpamory hetra aza tsy mba manao toy izany koa va?
47. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
47. Et si vous saluez seulement vos frères, que faites-vous d`extraordinaire? Les païens aussi n`agissent-ils pas de même?
47. Ary raha ny rahalahinareo ihany no arahabainareo, inona no ataonareo mihoatra noho ny sasany? Moa na dia ny mpamory hetra aza tsy mba manao toy izany koa va?
48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
48. Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père céleste est parfait.
48. Koa amin’izany aoka ho tanteraka ianareo toy ny fahatanterahan’ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra.
Chapter 6
1. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
1. "Gardez-vous de pratiquer votre justice devant les hommes, pour en être vus; autrement, vous n`aurez point de récompense auprès de votre Père qui est dans les cieux."
1. Tandremo mba tsy hanao ny fiantranareo eo imason’ny olona ianareo hahitany izany, fa raha tsy izany, dia tsy manana valim-pitia amin’ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra ianareo.
2. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
2. Lors donc que tu fais l`aumône, ne sonne pas de la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin d`être glorifiés par les hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
2. Koa amin’izany, raha manao fiantrana ianao, aza mba mitsoka trompetra eo alohanao tahaka ny fanaon’ny mpihatsaravelatsihy eo amin’ny synagoga sy eny an-dalambe mba hankalazan’ny olona azy. Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa fa efa azony ny valim-pitiany.
3. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
3. Mais quand tu fais l`aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta droite,
3. Fa ianao kosa, raha manao fiantrana, dia aoka tsy ho fantatry ny tananao ankavia izay ataon’ny tananao ankavanana,
4. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
4. "afin que ton aumône se fasse en secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra."
4. "Mba hatao ao amin’ny mangingina ny fiantranao; ary ny Rainao, Izay mahita ao amin’ny mangingina no hamaly anao miharihary."
5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
5. Lorsque vous priez, ne soyez pas comme les hypocrites, qui aiment à prier debout dans les synagogues et aux coins des rues, pour être vus des hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
5. "Ary raha mivavaka ianao, aza mba ho tahaka ny mpihatsaravelatsihy; fa tia ny mivavaka mitsangana eo amin’ny synagoga sy eo an-joron-dalana hahitan’ny olona azy izy. Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa, fa efa azony ny valim-pitiany."
6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
6. "Mais quand tu pries, entre dans ta chambre, ferme ta porte, et prie ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra."
6. "Fa ianao kosa raha mivavaka, dia midira ao amin’ny efitranonao, ka rehefa voarindrinao ny varavaranao, dia mivavaha amin’ny Rainao, izay ao amin’ny mangingina; ary ny Rainao, izay mahita ao amin’ny mangingina no hamaly anao miharihary."
7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
7. En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles, comme les païens, qui s`imaginent qu`à force de paroles ils seront exaucés.
7. "Fa rehefa mivavaka ianareo, dia aza mba manao teny maro miverimberina tahaka ny jentilisa; fa ataony ho ny hamaroan’ny teniny no hihainoana azy."
8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
8. "Ne leur ressemblez pas; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez."
8. "Koa aza manahaka azy ianareo; fa fantatry ny Rainareo izay tokony ho anareo, raha tsy mbola mangataka aminy aza ianareo."
9. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
9. "Voici donc comment vous devez prier: Notre Père qui es aux cieux! Que ton nom soit sanctifié;"
9. Koa amin’izany mivavaha toy izao ianareo: Rainay izay any an-danitra, Hohamasinina anie ny anaranao.
10. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
10. "que ton règne vienne; que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel."
10. Ho tonga anie ny fanjakanao. Hatao anie ny sitraponao ety an-tany tahaka ny any an-danitra.
11. Give us this day our daily bread.
11. "Donne-nous aujourd`hui notre pain quotidien;"
11. Omeo anay anio izay hanina sahaza ho anay.
12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
12. "pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous aussi nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés;"

13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
14. "Si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs offenses, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi;"
14. "Fa raha mamela ny fahadisoan’ny olona ianareo, dia mba hamela ny anareo kosa ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra;"
15. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
15. mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes, votre Père ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses.
15. Fa raha tsy mamela ny fahadisoan’ny olona ianareo, dia tsy hamela ny fahadisoanareo ny Rainareo.
16. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
16. Lorsque vous jeûnez, ne prenez pas un air triste, comme les hypocrites, qui se rendent le visage tout défait, pour montrer aux hommes qu`ils jeûnent. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
16. "Ary koa raha mifady hanina ianareo, aza mety ho tahaka ny mpihatsaravelatsihy, izay malahelo tarehy; fa mampisotisoty ny tavany izy mba ho hitan’ny olona fa mifady. Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa fa efa azony ny valim-pitiany."
17. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
17. Mais quand tu jeûnes, parfume ta tête et lave ton visage,
17. Fa ianao kosa, raha mifady hanina, dia hosory ny lohanao, ary sasao ny tavanao,
18. That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
18. "afin de ne pas montrer aux hommes que tu jeûnes, mais à ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra."
18. "Mba tsy ho hitan’ny olona fa mifady, fa ho hitan’ny Rainao, izay ao amin’ny mangingina; ary ny Rainao, izay mahita ao amin’ny mangingina, no hamaly anao miharihary."
19. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
19. "Ne vous amassez pas des trésors sur la terre, où la teigne et la rouille détruisent, et où les voleurs percent et dérobent;"
19. Aza mihary harena ho anareo ety an-tany, izay misy kalalao sy harafesina manimba, sady misy mpangalatra manamy trano sy mangalatra.
20. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
20. mais amassez-vous des trésors dans le ciel, où la teigne et la rouille ne détruisent point, et où les voleurs ne percent ni ne dérobent.

21. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
21. Car là où est ton trésor, là aussi sera ton coeur.
21. Fa izay itoeran’ny tahirinareo, dia ho any koa ny fonareo.
22. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
22. "L`oeil est la lampe du corps. Si ton oeil est en bon état, tout ton corps sera éclairé;"
22. "Ny maso no jiron’ny tena; koa amin’izany raha tsara ny masonao, dia hazava avokoa ny tenanao rehetra."
23. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
23. mais si ton oeil est en mauvais état, tout ton corps sera dans les ténèbres. Si donc la lumière qui est en toi est ténèbres, combien seront grandes ces ténèbres!
23. Fa raha ratsy ny masonao, dia ho maizina avokoa ny tenanao rehetra: koa raha maizina ny fahazavana ao anatinao, manao ahoana ny halehiben’izany fahamaizinana izany!
24. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
24. "Nul ne peut servir deux maîtres. Car, ou il haïra l`un, et aimera l`autre; ou il s`attachera à l`un, et méprisera l`autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mamon."
24. "Tsy misy olona mahay manompo tompo roa; fa ny anankiray ho halany, ary ny anankiray ho tiany; na ny anankiray hombany, ary ny anankiray hohamavoiny. Tsy mahay manompo an’Andriamanitra sy Mamôna ianareo."
25. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
25. C`est pourquoi je vous dis: Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous serez vêtus. La vie n`est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement?
25. Ary noho izany dia lazaiko aminareo hoe: Aza manahy ny amin’ny ainareo, dia izay hohaninareo na izay hosotroinareo, na ny amin’ny tenanareo, dia izay hotafinareo. Moa ny aina tsy mihoatra noho ny hanina va, ary ny tena noho ny fitafiana?
26. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
26. "Regardez les oiseaux du ciel: ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent, et ils n`amassent rien dans des greniers; et votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup plus qu`eux?"
26. Tsinjovy ny voro-manidina eny amin' ny habakabaka, fa tsy mba mamafy, na mijinja, na mitaona ho any an-tsompitra ireny, nefa ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra mamelona azy. Moa tsy mihoatra lavitra noho ireny va ianareo?
27. Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
27. Qui de vous, par ses inquiétudes, peut ajouter une coudée à la durée de sa vie?
27. Ary iza ao aminareo, na dia manahy aza, no mahay manampy ny halavan’ny tenany, na dia hakiho iray monja aza?
28. And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
28. "Et pourquoi vous inquiéter au sujet du vêtement? Considérez comment croissent les lis des champs: ils ne travaillent ni ne filent;"
28. "Ary nahoana no manahy ny amin’ny fitafiana ianareo? Diniho tsara ny fanirin’ny lilia any an-tsaha; tsy mba miasa na mamoly ireny;"
29. And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
29. cependant je vous dis que Salomon même, dans toute sa gloire, n`a pas été vêtu comme l`un d`eux.
29. Nefa lazaiko aminareo fa na dia Solomona tao amin’ny voninahiny rehetra aza tsy mba nitafy tahaka ny anankiray amin’ireny.
30. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
30. Si Dieu revêt ainsi l`herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd`hui et qui demain sera jetée au four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas à plus forte raison, gens de peu de foi?
30. Noho izany, raha ny ahitra any an-tsaha, izay any ihany anio ka hatsipy ao am-patana rahampitso, no ampitafin’Andriamanitra toy izany, tsy mainka va ianareo, ry kely finoana?
31. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
31. Ne vous inquiétez donc point, et ne dites pas: Que mangerons-nous? que boirons-nous? de quoi serons-nous vêtus?
31. Dia aza manahy ianareo ka manao hoe: Inona no hohaninay? na, inona no hosotroinay? na, inona no hotafinay?
32. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
32. Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens qui les recherchent. Votre Père céleste sait que vous en avez besoin.
32. "(Fa izany rehetra izany dia katsahin’ny jentilisa fatratra); fa fantatry ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra fa tokony ho anareo izany rehetra izany."
33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
33. "Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus."
33. Nefa katsaho aloha ny fanjakan’Andriamanitra sy ny fahamarinany, dia hanampy ho anareo izany rehetra izany.
34. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
34. "Ne vous inquiétez donc pas du lendemain; car le lendemain aura soin de lui-même. A chaque jour suffit sa peine."
34. "Ary amin’izany dia aza manahy ny amin’ny ampitso ianareo; fa ny ampitso hanahy ny azy. Ampy ho an’ny andro ny ratsy miseho ao aminy."
Chapter 7
1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
1. Ne jugez point, afin que vous ne soyez point jugés.
1. Aza mitsara, mba tsy hotsaraina ianareo.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
2. Car on vous jugera du jugement dont vous jugez, et l`on vous mesurera avec la mesure dont vous mesurez.
2. "Fa araka ny fitsarana itsaranareo no hitsarana anareo; ary araka ny refy andrefesanareo no handrefesana ho anareo."
3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
3. Pourquoi vois-tu la paille qui est dans l`oeil de ton frère, et n`aperçois-tu pas la poutre qui est dans ton oeil?
3. Ary nahoana ianao no mijery ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny mason’ny rahalahinao fa ny andry eo amin’ny masonao dia tsy mba tsaroanao?
4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
4. Ou comment peux-tu dire à ton frère: Laisse-moi ôter une paille de ton oeil, toi qui as une poutre dans le tien?
4. "Ary ahoana no hilazanao amin’ny rahalahinao hoe: Aoka aho hanaisotra ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny masonao; nefa, indro, ny andry eo amin’ny masonao?"
5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
5. Hypocrite, ôte premièrement la poutre de ton oeil, et alors tu verras comment ôter la paille de l`oeil de ton frère.
5. Ry mpihatsaravelatsihy, esory aloha ny andry eo amin’ny masonao, ary amin’izay vao ho hitanao tsara ny hanesoranao ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny mason’ny rahalahinao.
6. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
6. Ne donnez pas les choses saintes aux chiens, et ne jetez pas vos perles devant les pourceaux, de peur qu`ils ne les foulent aux pieds, ne se retournent et ne vous déchirent.
6. "Aza omena ny alika izay masina; ary aza atsipy eo anoloan’ny kisoa ny pèrilareo, fandrao hanitsaka azy izy dia hifotitra ka hamiravira anareo."
7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
7. "Demandez, et l`on vous donnera; cherchez, et vous trouverez; frappez, et l`on vous ouvrira."
7. "Mangataha, dia homena ianareo; mitadiava, dia hahita ianareo; dondòny, dia hovohana ianareo;"
8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
8. Car quiconque demande reçoit, celui qui cherche trouve, et l`on ouvre à celui qui frappe.
8. "Fa izay rehetra mangataka no mahazo; ary izay mitady no mahita; ary izay mandondòna no hovohana."
9. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
9. Lequel de vous donnera une pierre à son fils, s`il lui demande du pain?
9. Fa iza moa aminareo, raha angatahan’ny zanany mofo, no hanome azy vato?
10. Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
10. Ou, s`il demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent?
10. Ary raha angatahany hazandrano, no hanome azy menarana?
11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
11. Si donc, méchants comme vous l`êtes, vous savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, à combien plus forte raison votre Père qui est dans les cieux donnera-t-il de bonnes choses à ceux qui les lui demandent.
11. Koa raha ianareo, na dia ratsy aza, mahalala hanome zava-tsoa ho an’ny zanakareo, tsy mainka va ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra no hanome zava-tsoa ho an’izay mangataka aminy?
12. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
12. Tout ce que vous voulez que les hommes fassent pour vous, faites-le de même pour eux, car c`est la loi et les prophètes.
12. "Koa amin’izany na inona na inona no tianareo hataon’ny olona aminareo, dia mba ataovy aminy kosa tahaka izany; fa izany no lalàna sy mpaminany."
13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
13. Entrez par la porte étroite. Car large est la porte, spacieux est le chemin qui mènent à la perdition, et il y en a beaucoup qui entrent par là.
13. "Midira amin’ny vavahady ety ianareo; fa lehibe ny vavahady, ary malalaka ny lalana izay mankany amin’ny fahaverezana, ka maro ny miditra any."
14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
14. Mais étroite est la porte, resserré le chemin qui mènent à la vie, et il y en a peu qui les trouvent.
14. Fa ety ny vavahady, ary tery ny lalana izay mankany amin’ny fiainana, ka vitsy ny mahita azy.
15. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
15. Gardez-vous des faux prophètes. Ils viennent à vous en vêtement de brebis, mais au dedans ce sont des loups ravisseurs.
15. Mitandrema ianareo ny amin' ny mpaminany sandoka, izay mankao aminareo amin’ny fitafian’ny ondry, fa ao anatiny dia amboadia mitoha izy.
16. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
16. Vous les reconnaîtrez à leurs fruits. Cueille-t-on des raisins sur des épines, ou des figues sur des chardons?
16. Ny voany no hahafantaranareo azy. Manoty voaloboka amin’ny tsilo va ny olona, na aviavy amin’ny songosongo?
17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
17. Tout bon arbre porte de bons fruits, mais le mauvais arbre porte de mauvais fruits.
17. "Dia toy izany, ny hazo tsara rehetra dia mamoa voa tsara; fa ny hazo ratsy rehetra dia mamoa voa ratsy."
18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
18. Un bon arbre ne peut porter de mauvais fruits, ni un mauvais arbre porter de bons fruits.
18. Ny hazo tsara tsy mety mamoa voa ratsy, ary ny hazo ratsy tsy mety mamoa voa tsara.
19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
19. Tout arbre qui ne porte pas de bons fruits est coupé et jeté au feu.
19. Ny hazo rehetra izay tsy mamoa voa tsara dia hokapaina ka hatsipy any anaty afo.
20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
20. C`est donc à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez.
20. Ka dia ny voany no hahafantaranareo azy.
21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
21. Ceux qui me disent: Seigneur, Seigneur! n`entreront pas tous dans le royaume des cieux, mais celui-là seul qui fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
21. Tsy izay rehetra manao amiko hoe: Tompoko, Tompoko no hiditra amin’ny fanjakan’ny lanitra, fa izay manao ny sitrapon’ny Raiko izay any an-danitra.
22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
22. Plusieurs me diront en ce jour-là: Seigneur, Seigneur, n`avons-nous pas prophétisé par ton nom? n`avons-nous pas chassé des démons par ton nom? et n`avons-nous pas fait beaucoup de miracles par ton nom?
22. Maro no hanao amiko amin’izany andro izany hoe: Tompoko, Tompoko, tsy efa naminany tamin’ny anaranao va izahay? ary tsy efa namoaka devoly tamin’ny anaranao va izahay? ary tsy efa nanao asa mahagaga maro tamin’ny anaranao va izahay?
23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
23. Alors je leur dirai ouvertement: Je ne vous ai jamais connus, retirez-vous de moi, vous qui commettez l`iniquité.
23. "Ary dia hambarako aminy marimarina hoe: Tsy mba fantatro akory ianareo hatrizay hatrizay; mialà amiko, ianareo mpanao heloka."
24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
24. C`est pourquoi, quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis et les met en pratique, sera semblable à un homme prudent qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc.
24. "Koa amin’izany na zovy na zovy no mandre izany teniko izany ka manatanteraka azy, dia hohariko amin’ny lehilahy hendry izy, izay nanorina ny tranony teo ambonin’ny vatolampy;"
25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
25. La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et se sont jetés contre cette maison: elle n`est point tombée, parce qu`elle était fondée sur le roc.
25. "Ary latsaka ny ranonorana, ka nisy riaka be, sady nifofofofo ny rivotra ka namely izany trano izany; nefa tsy nianjera izy, satria efa naorina teo ambonin’ny vatolampy."
26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
26. Mais quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis, et ne les met pas en pratique, sera semblable à un homme insensé qui a bâti sa maison sur le sable.
26. "Fa izay rehetra mandre izany teniko izany, nefa tsy manatanteraka azy, dia hoharina amin’ny lehilahy adala, izay nanorina ny tranony teo ambonin’ny fasika;"
27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
27. La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et ont battu cette maison: elle est tombée, et sa ruine a été grande.
27. "Ary latsaka ny ranonorana, ka nisy riaka be, sady nifofofofo ny rivotra ka namely izany trano izany; dia nianjera izy, ka loza ny fianjerany."
28. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
28. "Après que Jésus eut achevé ces discours, la foule fut frappée de sa doctrine;"
28. Ary izao no niseho, rehefa vitan’i Jesosy izany teny izany, dia talanjona ny vahoaka noho ny foto-pampianarany,
29. For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
29. car il enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non pas comme leurs scribes.
