Chapter 28
1. Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
1. "Il y a pour l`argent une mine d`où on le fait sortir, Et pour l`or un lieu d`où on l`extrait pour l`affiner;"

2. Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
2. Le fer se tire de la poussière, Et la pierre se fond pour produire l`airain.
2. Ny vy dia alaina avy amin' ny tany, ary ny varahina, arendrika avy amin' ny vato.
3. He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
3. "L`homme fait cesser les ténèbres; Il explore, jusque dans les endroits les plus profonds, Les pierres cachées dans l`obscurité et dans l`ombre de la mort."

4. The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.

5. As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
5. La terre, d`où sort le pain, Est bouleversée dans ses entrailles comme par le feu.
5. "Ny tany no iavian' ny hanina; ary ny ao ambaniny dia avadika ka tahaka ny afo."
6. The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
6. Ses pierres contiennent du saphir, Et l`on y trouve de la poudre d`or.

7. There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen:
7. "L`oiseau de proie n`en connaît pas le sentier, L`oeil du vautour ne l`a point aperçu;"

8. The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.

9. He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
9. "L`homme porte sa main sur le roc, Il renverse les montagnes depuis la racine;"
9. Maninjitra ny tanany amin' ny vatolampy izy ary mamadika ny tendrombohitra hatramin' ny fotony.
10. He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
10. "Il ouvre des tranchées dans les rochers, Et son oeil contemple tout ce qu`il y a de précieux;"
10. Manataka ony eo amin' ny vatolampy izy, ary hitan' ny masony izay zava-tsoa rehetra.
11. He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
11. Il arrête l`écoulement des eaux, Et il produit à la lumière ce qui est caché.
11. Tampenany ny lalan-drano mba tsy hisy mitete, ary izay zava-miafina dia avoakany ho amin' ny mazava.
12. But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
12. Mais la sagesse, où se trouve-t-elle? Où est la demeure de l`intelligence?
12. Fa aiza kosa no hahitana ny fahendrena? Ary aiza no fitoeran' ny fahalalana?
13. Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
13. "L`homme n`en connaît point le prix; Elle ne se trouve pas dans la terre des vivants."
13. Tsy misy zanak' olombelona mahalala ny vidiny, ary tsy hita eo amin' ny tanin' ny velona izany.
14. The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
14. "L`abîme dit: Elle n`est point en moi; Et la mer dit: Elle n`est point avec moi."
14. "Hoy ny lalina: Tsy ato anatiko izy; ary tsy ato amiko izy, hoy ny ranomasina."
15. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
15. "Elle ne se donne pas contre de l`or pur, Elle ne s`achète pas au poids de l`argent;"
15. "Ny volamena tsy mahatakalo azy, ary ny volafotsy tsy azo lanjaina ho vidiny;"
16. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
16. "Elle ne se pèse pas contre l`or d`Ophir, Ni contre le précieux onyx, ni contre le saphir;"

17. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.

18. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.

19. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
19. La topaze d`Éthiopie n`est point son égale, Et l`or pur n`entre pas en balance avec elle.
19. Ny topaza avy any Etiopia dia tsy azo ampitahaina aminy, ary tsy mahatakalo azy ny volamena madio.
20. Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
20. D`où vient donc la sagesse? Où est la demeure de l`intelligence?
20. Dia avy aiza àry ny fahendrena? Ary aiza no fitoeran' ny fahalalana?
21. Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
21. Elle est cachée aux yeux de tout vivant, Elle est cachée aux oiseaux du ciel.
21. Hita fa miafina amin' ny mason' ny velona rehetra izany ary takona amin' ny voro-manidina eny amin' ny habakabaka.
22. Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
22. Le gouffre et la mort disent: Nous en avons entendu parler.
22. Hoy Ifandringanana sy Ifahafatesana: Ny sofinay ihany no nandrenesanay ny filazana azy.
23. God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
23. "C`est Dieu qui en sait le chemin, C`est lui qui en connaît la demeure;"
23. "Andriamanitra no mahalala ny lalana ho any aminy; Izy no mahafantatra ny itoerany;"
24. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
24. Car il voit jusqu`aux extrémités de la terre, Il aperçoit tout sous les cieux.
24. Fa Izy no mitsinjo hatramin' ny faran' ny tany, ary mahatazana manerana izao ambanin' ny lanitra rehetra izao,
25. To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
25. Quand il régla le poids du vent, Et qu`il fixa la mesure des eaux,
25. Ka manendry ny lanjan' ny rivotra ary mamatra ny rano amin' ny famarana.
26. When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
26. Quand il donna des lois à la pluie, Et qu`il traça la route de l`éclair et du tonnerre,
26. Raha nanao lalana ho an' ny ranonorana Izy sy lalana alehan' ny helatry ny kotrokorana,
27. Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
27. Alors il vit la sagesse et la manifesta, Il en posa les fondements et la mit à l`épreuve.
27. "Dia nahita ka nanambara izany Izy; nanomana izany Izy sady namantatra azy;"
28. And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
28. "Puis il dit à l`homme: Voici, la crainte du Seigneur, c`est la sagesse; S`éloigner du mal, c`est l`intelligence."
28. Dia hoy izy tamin' ny olona: Indro, ny fahatahorana ny Tompo no fahendrena, ary ny fialana amin' ny ratsy no fahalalana.
Chapter 29
1. Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
1. Job prit de nouveau la parole sous forme sentencieuse et dit:
1. Dia mbola nandroso nanao oha-teny ihany Joba ka niteny hoe:
2. Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
2. Oh! que ne puis-je être comme aux mois du passé, Comme aux jours où Dieu me gardait,
2. Enga anie ka ho tahaka ny tamin' ireny volana lasa ireny aho! dia tahaka ilay tamin' ny andro niarovan' Andriamanitra ahy!
3. When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
3. Quand sa lampe brillait sur ma tête, Et que sa lumière me guidait dans les ténèbres!
3. "Fony mbola nazava teo ambonin' ny lohako ny jirony, ary ny fahazavany no nandehanako tao amin' ny maizina;"
4. As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
4. Que ne suis-je comme aux jours de ma vigueur, Où Dieu veillait en ami sur ma tente,
4. Tahaka ahy tamin' ny andron' ny fahatanorako raha teo ambonin' ny laiko ny fisakaizan' Andriamanitra,
5. When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
5. "Quand le Tout Puissant était encore avec moi, Et que mes enfants m`entouraient;"

6. When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
6. Quand mes pieds se baignaient dans la crème Et que le rocher répandait près de moi des ruisseaux d`huile!
6. "Fony mbola nanasa ny tongotro tamin' ny ronono mandry aho, ary ny vatolampy namoaka renirano diloilo teo amiko;"
7. When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
7. Si je sortais pour aller à la porte de la ville, Et si je me faisais préparer un siège dans la place,
7. Raha nivoaka ny vavahady aho namaky ny tanàna, dia nanomana ny fipetrahako teo an-dalambe!
8. The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
8. Les jeunes gens se retiraient à mon approche, Les vieillards se levaient et se tenaient debout.

9. The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
9. "Les princes arrêtaient leurs discours, Et mettaient la main sur leur bouche;"

10. The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
10. La voix des chefs se taisait, Et leur langue s`attachait à leur palais.
10. Nangina ny mpanapaka, ary ny lelany niraikitra tamin' ny lanilaniny.
11. When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
11. "L`oreille qui m`entendait me disait heureux, L`oeil qui me voyait me rendait témoignage;"
11. "Ny sofina izay nandre ahy, dia nanao ahy hoe sambatra; ary izay maso nahita ahy dia vavolombelona ho ahy."
12. Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
12. Car je sauvais le pauvre qui implorait du secours, Et l`orphelin qui manquait d`appui.

13. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

14. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

15. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
15. J`étais l`oeil de l`aveugle Et le pied du boiteux.

16. I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
16. "J`étais le père des misérables, J`examinais la cause de l`inconnu;"

17. And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
17. Je brisais la mâchoire de l`injuste, Et j`arrachais de ses dents la proie.

18. Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
18. "Alors je disais: Je mourrai dans mon nid, Mes jours seront abondants comme le sable;"

19. My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
19. "L`eau pénétrera dans mes racines, La rosée passera la nuit sur mes branches;"

20. My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
20. Ma gloire reverdira sans cesse, Et mon arc rajeunira dans ma main.

21. Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
21. On m`écoutait et l`on restait dans l`attente, On gardait le silence devant mes conseils.

22. After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

23. And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

24. If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

25. I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.

1. But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

6. To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.

7. Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.
7. Ils hurlent parmi les buissons, Ils se rassemblent sous les ronces.

8. They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.
8. Etres vils et méprisés, On les repousse du pays.

9. And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

10. They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

11. Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.

12. Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.
12. "Ces misérables se lèvent à ma droite et me poussent les pieds, Ils se fraient contre moi des sentiers pour ma ruine;"

13. They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.
13. "Ils détruisent mon propre sentier et travaillent à ma perte, Eux à qui personne ne viendrait en aide;"

14. They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

15. Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.

16. And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

17. My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

18. By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.

19. He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.
19. Dieu m`a jeté dans la boue, Et je ressemble à la poussière et à la cendre.

20. I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.

21. Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.

22. Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.
22. Tu mu soulèves, tu mu fais voler au-dessus du vent, Et tu m`anéantis au bruit de la tempête.
22. Aingainao ho eny amin' ny rivotra aho ka alefanao mandeha eo amboniny, ary levoninao ny fananako.
23. For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.
23. Car, je le sais, tu me mènes à la mort, Au rendez-vous de tous les vivants.
23. Fa fantatro fa hoentinao any amin' ny fahafatesana aho, dia any amin' ny trano voatendry ho an' ny velona rehetra.
24. Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.
24. Mais celui qui va périr n`étend-il pas les mains? Celui qui est dans le malheur n`implore-t-il pas du secours?

25. Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?
25. N`avais-je pas des larmes pour l`infortuné? Mon coeur n`avait-il pas pitié de l`indigent?

26. When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.

27. My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.

28. I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.

29. I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

30. My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

3. Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
3. La ruine n`est-elle pas pour le méchant, Et le malheur pour ceux qui commettent l`iniquité?
3. Moa tsy fandringanana va no manjo ny ratsy fanahy? ary tsy famaizana mahagaga no mahazo ny mpanao heloka?
4. Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
4. Dieu n`a-t-il pas connu mes voies? N`a-t-il pas compté tous mes pas?
4. Moa tsy Andriamanitra va no mijery ny lalako, ka manisa ny diako rehetra?
5. If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
5. Si j`ai marché dans le mensonge, Si mon pied a couru vers la fraude,
5. Raha niara-nandeha tamin-java-poana aho, na mailaka ho amin' ny fitaka ny tongotro,
6. Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.
6. Que Dieu me pèse dans des balances justes, Et il reconnaîtra mon intégrité!

7. If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;

13. If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
13. Si j`ai méprisé le droit de mon serviteur ou de ma servante Lorsqu`ils étaient en contestation avec moi,
13. Raha tàhiny aho nandà ny rariny izay an' ny mpanompolahiko, na ny mpanompovaviko raha nifamaly tamiko izy,
14. What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

21. "Raha tàhiny aho naninjitra ny tanako hampahory ny kamboty, saingy hitako fa nisy mpanampy ahy teo am-bavahady;"
22. Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
22. Que mon épaule se détache de sa jointure, Que mon bras tombe et qu`il se brise!
22. Dia aoka ny foto-tsandriko hitsoaka hiala amin' ny rangomainako ary aoka ny sandriko ho latsaka hiala amin' ny taolam-panaviko.
23. For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
23. Car les châtiments de Dieu m`épouvantent, Et je ne puis rien devant sa majesté.

27. And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:

29. If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
29. Si j`ai été joyeux du malheur de mon ennemi, Si j`ai sauté d`allégresse quand les revers l`ont atteint,
29. "Raha tàhiny aho nifaly tamin' ny fandringanana izay nankahala ahy, na nanandra-tena aho nony nozoim-pahoriana izy;"
30. Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
30. "Moi qui n`ai pas permis à ma langue de pécher, De demander sa mort avec imprécation;"

31. If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
31. Si les gens de ma tente ne disaient pas: Où est celui qui n`a pas été rassasié de sa viande?

32. The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.

33. If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

35. Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
35. Oh! qui me fera trouver quelqu`un qui m`écoute? Voilà ma défense toute signée: Que le Tout Puissant me réponde! Qui me donnera la plainte écrite par mon adversaire?
35. Enga anie ka hisy hihaino ahy! Indro, ny faniriako dia ny hamalian' ny Tsitoha ahy, ka hanoratra boky ny fahavaloko.
36. Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.
36. "Je porterai son écrit sur mon épaule, Je l`attacherai sur mon front comme une couronne;"

37. I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
