Judging Others
1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
1. Ne jugez point, afin que vous ne soyez point jugés.
1. Aza mitsara, mba tsy hotsaraina ianareo.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
2. Car on vous jugera du jugement dont vous jugez, et l`on vous mesurera avec la mesure dont vous mesurez.
2. "Fa araka ny fitsarana itsaranareo no hitsarana anareo; ary araka ny refy andrefesanareo no handrefesana ho anareo."
3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
3. Pourquoi vois-tu la paille qui est dans l`oeil de ton frère, et n`aperçois-tu pas la poutre qui est dans ton oeil?
3. Ary nahoana ianao no mijery ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny mason’ny rahalahinao fa ny andry eo amin’ny masonao dia tsy mba tsaroanao?
4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
4. Ou comment peux-tu dire à ton frère: Laisse-moi ôter une paille de ton oeil, toi qui as une poutre dans le tien?
4. "Ary ahoana no hilazanao amin’ny rahalahinao hoe: Aoka aho hanaisotra ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny masonao; nefa, indro, ny andry eo amin’ny masonao?"
5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
5. Hypocrite, ôte premièrement la poutre de ton oeil, et alors tu verras comment ôter la paille de l`oeil de ton frère.
5. Ry mpihatsaravelatsihy, esory aloha ny andry eo amin’ny masonao, ary amin’izay vao ho hitanao tsara ny hanesoranao ny sombin-kazo eo amin’ny mason’ny rahalahinao.
6. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
6. Ne donnez pas les choses saintes aux chiens, et ne jetez pas vos perles devant les pourceaux, de peur qu`ils ne les foulent aux pieds, ne se retournent et ne vous déchirent.
6. "Aza omena ny alika izay masina; ary aza atsipy eo anoloan’ny kisoa ny pèrilareo, fandrao hanitsaka azy izy dia hifotitra ka hamiravira anareo."
Ask, Seek, Knock
7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
7. "Demandez, et l`on vous donnera; cherchez, et vous trouverez; frappez, et l`on vous ouvrira."
7. "Mangataha, dia homena ianareo; mitadiava, dia hahita ianareo; dondòny, dia hovohana ianareo;"
8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
8. Car quiconque demande reçoit, celui qui cherche trouve, et l`on ouvre à celui qui frappe.
8. "Fa izay rehetra mangataka no mahazo; ary izay mitady no mahita; ary izay mandondòna no hovohana."
9. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
9. Lequel de vous donnera une pierre à son fils, s`il lui demande du pain?
9. Fa iza moa aminareo, raha angatahan’ny zanany mofo, no hanome azy vato?
10. Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
10. Ou, s`il demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent?
10. Ary raha angatahany hazandrano, no hanome azy menarana?
11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
11. Si donc, méchants comme vous l`êtes, vous savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, à combien plus forte raison votre Père qui est dans les cieux donnera-t-il de bonnes choses à ceux qui les lui demandent.
11. Koa raha ianareo, na dia ratsy aza, mahalala hanome zava-tsoa ho an’ny zanakareo, tsy mainka va ny Rainareo Izay any an-danitra no hanome zava-tsoa ho an’izay mangataka aminy?
12. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
12. Tout ce que vous voulez que les hommes fassent pour vous, faites-le de même pour eux, car c`est la loi et les prophètes.
12. "Koa amin’izany na inona na inona no tianareo hataon’ny olona aminareo, dia mba ataovy aminy kosa tahaka izany; fa izany no lalàna sy mpaminany."
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
13. Entrez par la porte étroite. Car large est la porte, spacieux est le chemin qui mènent à la perdition, et il y en a beaucoup qui entrent par là.
13. "Midira amin’ny vavahady ety ianareo; fa lehibe ny vavahady, ary malalaka ny lalana izay mankany amin’ny fahaverezana, ka maro ny miditra any."
14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
14. Mais étroite est la porte, resserré le chemin qui mènent à la vie, et il y en a peu qui les trouvent.
14. Fa ety ny vavahady, ary tery ny lalana izay mankany amin’ny fiainana, ka vitsy ny mahita azy.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
15. Gardez-vous des faux prophètes. Ils viennent à vous en vêtement de brebis, mais au dedans ce sont des loups ravisseurs.
15. Mitandrema ianareo ny amin' ny mpaminany sandoka, izay mankao aminareo amin’ny fitafian’ny ondry, fa ao anatiny dia amboadia mitoha izy.
16. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
16. Vous les reconnaîtrez à leurs fruits. Cueille-t-on des raisins sur des épines, ou des figues sur des chardons?
16. Ny voany no hahafantaranareo azy. Manoty voaloboka amin’ny tsilo va ny olona, na aviavy amin’ny songosongo?
17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
17. Tout bon arbre porte de bons fruits, mais le mauvais arbre porte de mauvais fruits.
17. "Dia toy izany, ny hazo tsara rehetra dia mamoa voa tsara; fa ny hazo ratsy rehetra dia mamoa voa ratsy."
18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
18. Un bon arbre ne peut porter de mauvais fruits, ni un mauvais arbre porter de bons fruits.
18. Ny hazo tsara tsy mety mamoa voa ratsy, ary ny hazo ratsy tsy mety mamoa voa tsara.
19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
19. Tout arbre qui ne porte pas de bons fruits est coupé et jeté au feu.
19. Ny hazo rehetra izay tsy mamoa voa tsara dia hokapaina ka hatsipy any anaty afo.
20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
20. C`est donc à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez.
20. Ka dia ny voany no hahafantaranareo azy.
21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
21. Ceux qui me disent: Seigneur, Seigneur! n`entreront pas tous dans le royaume des cieux, mais celui-là seul qui fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
21. Tsy izay rehetra manao amiko hoe: Tompoko, Tompoko no hiditra amin’ny fanjakan’ny lanitra, fa izay manao ny sitrapon’ny Raiko izay any an-danitra.
22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
22. Plusieurs me diront en ce jour-là: Seigneur, Seigneur, n`avons-nous pas prophétisé par ton nom? n`avons-nous pas chassé des démons par ton nom? et n`avons-nous pas fait beaucoup de miracles par ton nom?
22. Maro no hanao amiko amin’izany andro izany hoe: Tompoko, Tompoko, tsy efa naminany tamin’ny anaranao va izahay? ary tsy efa namoaka devoly tamin’ny anaranao va izahay? ary tsy efa nanao asa mahagaga maro tamin’ny anaranao va izahay?
23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
23. Alors je leur dirai ouvertement: Je ne vous ai jamais connus, retirez-vous de moi, vous qui commettez l`iniquité.
23. "Ary dia hambarako aminy marimarina hoe: Tsy mba fantatro akory ianareo hatrizay hatrizay; mialà amiko, ianareo mpanao heloka."
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
24. C`est pourquoi, quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis et les met en pratique, sera semblable à un homme prudent qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc.
24. "Koa amin’izany na zovy na zovy no mandre izany teniko izany ka manatanteraka azy, dia hohariko amin’ny lehilahy hendry izy, izay nanorina ny tranony teo ambonin’ny vatolampy;"
25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
25. La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et se sont jetés contre cette maison: elle n`est point tombée, parce qu`elle était fondée sur le roc.
25. "Ary latsaka ny ranonorana, ka nisy riaka be, sady nifofofofo ny rivotra ka namely izany trano izany; nefa tsy nianjera izy, satria efa naorina teo ambonin’ny vatolampy."
26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
26. Mais quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis, et ne les met pas en pratique, sera semblable à un homme insensé qui a bâti sa maison sur le sable.
26. "Fa izay rehetra mandre izany teniko izany, nefa tsy manatanteraka azy, dia hoharina amin’ny lehilahy adala, izay nanorina ny tranony teo ambonin’ny fasika;"
27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
27. La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et ont battu cette maison: elle est tombée, et sa ruine a été grande.
27. "Ary latsaka ny ranonorana, ka nisy riaka be, sady nifofofofo ny rivotra ka namely izany trano izany; dia nianjera izy, ka loza ny fianjerany."
28. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
28. "Après que Jésus eut achevé ces discours, la foule fut frappée de sa doctrine;"
28. Ary izao no niseho, rehefa vitan’i Jesosy izany teny izany, dia talanjona ny vahoaka noho ny foto-pampianarany,
29. For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
29. car il enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non pas comme leurs scribes.
29. Satria nampianatra azy toy izay manana fahefana Izy, fa tsy tahaka ny mpanoradalàna teo aminy.
