Clean and Unclean
1. Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2. Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
2. Pourquoi tes disciples transgressent-ils la tradition des anciens? Car ils ne se lavent pas les mains, quand ils prennent leurs repas.
2. Nahoana ny mpianatrao no mandika ny fomba amam-panaon' ny razana? fa tsy mba manasa tanana izy, raha hihinan-kanina.
3. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
3. Il leur répondit: Et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu au profit de votre tradition?
3. Fa namaly Izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Nahoana kosa ianareo no mandika ny didin' Andriamanitra noho ny fomba amam-panaonareo?
4. For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
4. "Car Dieu a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort."
4. Fa Andriamanitra efa nandidy hoe: “Manajà ny rainao sy ny reninao”. ary koa: “Izay manozona ny rainy na ny reniny dia hatao maty tokoa”.
5. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
5. Mais vous, vous dites: Celui qui dira à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont j`aurais pu t`assister est une offrande à Dieu, n`est pas tenu d`honorer son père ou sa mère.
5. "Fa hoy kosa ianareo: Na zovy na zovy no hilaza amin' ny rainy na ny reniny hoe: Efa fanatitra ho an' Andriamanitra izay rehetra tokony hahazoanao soa avy amiko;"
6. And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
6. Vous annulez ainsi la parole de Dieu au profit de votre tradition.
6. Dia tsy mba hanaja ny rainy na ny reniny izy ka ho afa-maina. Koa dia foananareo ny didin' Andriamanitra noho ny fomba amam-panaonareo.
7. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
7. Hypocrites, Ésaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous, quand il a dit:
7. Ry mpihatsaravelatsihy, marina ny naminanian' Isaia anareo hoe:
8. This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
8. Ce peuple m`honore des lèvres, Mais son coeur est éloigné de moi.
8. “Ity firenena ity manatona Ahy amin' ny vavany, ary manaja Ahy amin' ny molony, fa ny fony kosa lavitra Ahy.
9. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
9. C`est en vain qu`ils m`honorent, en enseignant des préceptes qui sont des commandements d`hommes.
9. Koa foana ny ivavahan' ireo amiko, raha mampianatra ny didin' olombelona ho foto-pampianarana izy”.
10. And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
10. Ayant appelé à lui la foule, il lui dit: Écoutez, et comprenez.
10. Ary niantso ny vahoaka hankeo aminy Izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Mihainoa ka mahafantara:
11. Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
11. "Ce n`est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l`homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche, c`est ce qui souille l`homme."
11. "Tsy izay miditra amin' ny vava no mahaloto ny olona; fa izay mivoaka avy amin' ny vava, izany no mahaloto ny olona."
12. Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
12. Alors ses disciples s`approchèrent, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que les pharisiens ont été scandalisés des paroles qu`ils ont entendues?
12. Dia nankeo aminy ny mpianany ka nanao taminy hoe: Fantatrao va fa tafintohina ny Fariseo, raha nandre izany teny izany?
13. But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
13. Il répondit: Toute plante que n`a pas plantée mon Père céleste sera déracinée.
13. Ary namaly Izy ka nanao hoe: Ny zava-maniry rehetra izay tsy nambolen' ny Raiko izay any an-danitra dia hongotana.
14. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
14. "Laissez-les: ce sont des aveugles qui conduisent des aveugles; si un aveugle conduit un aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans une fosse."
14. "Avelao izy; jamba mpitarika jamba izy; ary raha ny jamba no mitarika ny jamba, dia samy ho latsaka any an-kady izy roa."
15. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
15. Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit: Explique-nous cette parabole.

16. And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
16. Et Jésus dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous encore sans intelligence?

17. Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
17. Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche va dans le ventre, puis est jeté dans les lieux secrets?
17. Tsy mbola fantatrareo va fa izay rehetra miditra amin' ny vava dia mankao an-kibo ka avoaka ao amin' ny fivoahana?
18. But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
18. Mais ce qui sort de la bouche vient du coeur, et c`est ce qui souille l`homme.
18. Fa ireto zavatra ireto, izay mivoaka avy amin' ny vava kosa dia avy amin' ny fo, ka izany no mahaloto ny olona.
19. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
19. Car c`est du coeur que viennent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les impudicités, les vols, les faux témoignages, les calomnies.
19. "Fa avy amin' ny fo no ivoahan' ny sain-dratsy, dia ny vonoana olona, ny fijangajangana, ny fahavetavetana, ny halatra, ny ampanga lainga, ny blasfemia;"
20. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
20. "Voilà les choses qui souillent l`homme; mais manger sans s`être lavé les mains, cela ne souille point l`homme."
20. "Izany no zavatra mahaloto ny olona; fa ny mihinana amin' ny tanana tsy misasa tsy mba mahaloto ny olona;"
The Faith of the Canaanite Woman
21. Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
21. Jésus, étant parti de là, se retira dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon.
21. Dia niala teo Jesosy ka nankany amin' ny faritanin' i Tyro sy Sidona.
22. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
22. Et voici, une femme cananéenne, qui venait de ces contrées, lui cria: Aie pitié de moi, Seigneur, Fils de David! Ma fille est cruellement tourmentée par le démon.
22. Ary, indro, nisy vehivavy Kananita anankiray nivoaka avy tamin' izany tany izany ka niantso nanao hoe: Mamindrà fo amiko, Tompoko, zanak' i Davida ô! ampahorin' ny devoly loatra ny zanako vavy.
23. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
23. Il ne lui répondit pas un mot, et ses disciples s`approchèrent, et lui dirent avec insistance: Renvoie-la, car elle crie derrière nous.
23. Fa tsy namaly teny azy Izy. Ary nanatona ny mpianany ka nangataka taminy nanao hoe: Roahy izy, fa miantso mafy ato aoriantsika.
24. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
24. Il répondit: Je n`ai été envoyé qu`aux brebis perdues de la maison d`Israël.
24. Fa namaly Izy ka nanao hoe: Tsy nirahina Aho afa-tsy ho amin' ny ondry very amin' ny taranak' Isiraely.
25. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
25. Mais elle vint se prosterner devant lui, disant: Seigneur, secours-moi!
25. Dia nanatona ravehivavy, sady niankohoka teo anatrehany ka nanao hoe: Tompo ô, ampio aho.
26. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
26. Il répondit: Il n`est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux petits chiens.
26. Fa Izy namaly ka nanao hoe: Tsy mety raha maka ny mofon-jaza ka manipy azy ho an' ny amboakely.
27. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
27. Oui, Seigneur, dit-elle, mais les petits chiens mangent les miettes qui tombent de la table de leurs maîtres.
27. "Fa hoy ravehivavy: Marina izany, Tompoko; fa na dia ny amboakely aza mba mihinana izay sombintsombiny latsaka avy amin' ny latabatry ny tompony ihany."
28. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
28. "Alors Jésus lui dit: Femme, ta foi est grande; qu`il te soit fait comme tu veux. Et, à l`heure même, sa fille fut guérie."
28. "Dia namaly Jesosy ka nanao taminy hoe: Ravehivavy, lehibe ny finoanao; tongava aminao araka izay irinao. Dia salama tanteraka ny zanany vavy hatramin' izay ora izay."
Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
29. And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
29. Jésus quitta ces lieux, et vint près de la mer de Galilée. Étant monté sur la montagne, il s`y assit.
29. " Ary raha niala teo Jesosy, dia nankany amoron' ny ranomasin' i Galilia; ary niakatra nankeo an-tendrombohitra Izy ka nipetraka teo;"
30. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
30. "Alors s`approcha de lui une grande foule, ayant avec elle des boiteux, des aveugles, des muets, des estropiés, et beaucoup d`autres malades. On les mit à ses pieds, et il les guérit;"
30. "Ary nisy vahoaka betsaka nankeo aminy nitondra ireo izay mandringa, ny jamba, ny moana, ny kilemaina, ary ny maro hafa koa, ka nametraka azy teo akaikin' ny tongotr' i Jesosy; dia nahasitrana azy ireo Izy;"
31. Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
31. "en sorte que la foule était dans l`admiration de voir que les muets parlaient, que les estropiés étaient guéris, que les boiteux marchaient, que les aveugles voyaient; et elle glorifiait le Dieu d`Israël."
31. "Ka dia talanjona ny vahoaka, raha nahita ny moana miteny, ny kilemaina salama tsara, ny mandringa afa-mandeha, ary ny jamba mahiratra; dia nankalaza an' Andriamanitry ny Isiraely izy."
32. Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
32. "Jésus, ayant appelé ses disciples, dit: Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu`ils sont près de moi, et ils n`ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin."
32. "Ary niantso ny mpianany hankeo aminy Jesosy ka nanao hoe: Mahonena Ahy ny vahoaka, fa efa nitoetra hateloana taty amiko izy izao, ka tsy manan-kohanina; ary tsy tiako ny hampody azy tsy mihinana, fandrao reraka eny an-dalana izy."
33. And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
33. Les disciples lui dirent: Comment nous procurer dans ce lieu désert assez de pains pour rassasier une si grande foule?
33. Fa hoy ny mpianany taminy: Aiza no hahitanay mofo aty an' efitra ampy hahavoky izao vahoaka betsaka izao?
34. And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
34. Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils, et quelques petits poissons.
34. Ary hoy Jesosy taminy: Misy mofo firy any aminareo? Ary hoy ireo: Fito, ary hazandrano madinika vitsy.
35. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
35. Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre,
35. Ary nandidy ny vahoaka hipetraka amin' ny tany Izy.
36. And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
36. prit les sept pains et les poissons, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.
36. Dia nandray ny mofo fito mbamin' ny hazandrano Izy, ary nisaotra sy namaky ireny ka nanolotra azy ho an' ny mpianany, ary ny mpianatra kosa nanolotra ho an' ny vahoaka.
37. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
37. Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l`on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.
37. "Ary nihinana avokoa izy rehetra, ka dia voky; ary nangoniny ny sombin-tsombiny sisa tsy lany, ka dia nahafeno sobiky fito."
38. And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
38. Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.
38. Ary izay nihinana dia efatra arivo lahy, afa-tsy ny zaza amam-behivavy.
39. And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
39. Ensuite, il renvoya la foule, monta dans la barque, et se rendit dans la contrée de Magadan.
39. Ary nampody ny vahoaka Izy, dia niondrana an-tsambokely ka nankany amin' ny sisin-tanin' i Magdala.
