John the Baptist Beheaded
1. At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

2. And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

3. For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
3. Car Hérode, qui avait fait arrêter Jean, l`avait lié et mis en prison, à cause d`Hérodias, femme de Philippe, son frère,

4. For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
4. parce que Jean lui disait: Il ne t`est pas permis de l`avoir pour femme.

5. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
5. Il voulait le faire mourir, mais il craignait la foule, parce qu`elle regardait Jean comme un prophète.
5. Ary Heroda nikasa hamono azy, saingy natahotra ny vahoaka izy, satria nataon’ireo ho mpaminany Jaona.
6. But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
6. Or, lorsqu`on célébra l`anniversaire de la naissance d`Hérode, la fille d`Hérodias dansa au milieu des convives, et plut à Hérode,
6. Fa nony nankalazaina ny fitsingerenan’ny taona nahaterahan’i Heroda, dia nandihy teo anatrehan’ireo ny zanakavavin’i Herodiasy ka nahafaly an’i Heroda.
7. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
7. de sorte qu`il promit avec serment de lui donner ce qu`elle demanderait.

8. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.
8. A l`instigation de sa mère, elle dit: Donne-moi ici, sur un plat, la tête de Jean Baptiste.

9. And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.
9. "Le roi fut attristé; mais, à cause de ses serments et des convives, il commanda qu`on la lui donne,"

10. And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
10. et il envoya décapiter Jean dans la prison.

11. And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.
11. Sa tête fut apportée sur un plat, et donnée à la jeune fille, qui la porta à sa mère.

12. And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
12. Les disciples de Jean vinrent prendre son corps, et l`ensevelirent. Et ils allèrent l`annoncer à Jésus.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
13. When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
13. "A cette nouvelle, Jésus partit de là dans une barque, pour se retirer à l`écart dans un lieu désert; et la foule, l`ayant su, sortit des villes et le suivit à pied."
13. "Ary nony nandre izany Jesosy, dia niondrana an-tsambokely niala teo handeha hitokana any an-tany foana; ary raha nandre izany ny vahoaka, dia niala tany amin' ny tanàna maro izy ireo ka nandeha an-tongotra nanaraka Azy."
14. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
14. Quand il sortit de la barque, il vit une grande foule, et fut ému de compassion pour elle, et il guérit les malades.
14. Ary nivoaka Jesosy, dia nahita vahoaka betsaka, ary onena azy ka nahasitrana ny marariny.
15. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
15. "Le soir étant venu, les disciples s`approchèrent de lui, et dirent: Ce lieu est désert, et l`heure est déjà avancée; renvoie la foule, afin qu`elle aille dans les villages, pour s`acheter des vivres."
15. "Ary nony hariva ny andro, dia nanatona Azy ny mpianany ka nanao hoe: Tany foana ity, ary efa hariva ny andro izao; ravao ny vahoaka, mba hankanesany eny amin' ny vohitra hividy hanina ho azy."
16. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
16. "Jésus leur répondit: Ils n`ont pas besoin de s`en aller; donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger."
16. "Fa hoy Jesosy taminy: Tsy tokony handeha ireo; omeonareo hanina izy ireo."
17. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
17. Mais ils lui dirent: Nous n`avons ici que cinq pains et deux poissons.
17. Fa hoy ny mpianany taminy: Tsy misy aty aminay, afa-tsy mofo dimy sy hazandrano roa,
18. He said, Bring them hither to me.
18. Et il dit: Apportez-les-moi.
18. Ary hoy Izy: Ento ety amiko izany.
19. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
19. Il fit asseoir la foule sur l`herbe, prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et, levant les yeux vers le ciel, il rendit grâces. Puis, il rompit les pains et les donna aux disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.
19. "Dia nodidiany hipetraka teny ambonin' ny ahitra ny vahoaka, ary noraisiny ny mofo dimy sy ny hazandrano roa, dia niandrandra ny lanitra Izy ka nisaotra; ary novakiny ny mofo, dia natolony ny mpianatra, ary ny mpianatra kosa nanolotra ho an' ny vahoaka."
20. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
20. Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l`on emporta douze paniers pleins des morceaux qui restaient.
20. "Ary nihinana avokoa izy rehetra, ka dia voky; ary nangoniny ny sombintsombiny sisa tsy lany, ka dia nahafeno harona roa ambin' ny folo."
21. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
21. Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient environ cinq mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.
21. Ary izay nihinana dia tokony ho dimy arivo lahy, afa-tsy ny zaza amam-behivavy.
Jesus Walks on the Water
22. And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
22. Aussitôt après, il obligea les disciples à monter dans la barque et à passer avant lui de l`autre côté, pendant qu`il renverrait la foule.
22. Ary niaraka tamin' izay dia nanery ny mpianatra hiondrana an-tsambokely Jesosy, ka hita eo alohany ho eny am-pita mandra-pandràvany ny vahoaka.
23. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
23. "Quand il l`eut renvoyée, il monta sur la montagne, pour prier à l`écart; et, comme le soir était venu, il était là seul."
23. "Ary rehefa noravàny ny vahoaka, dia niakatra tao an-tendrombohitra Izy mba hitokana hivavaka; ary nony hariva ny andro, dia nitoetra irery teo Izy."
24. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
24. "La barque, déjà au milieu de la mer, était battue par les flots; car le vent était contraire."
24. Ary efa mby teo ampovoan' ny ranomasina ny sambokely tamin' izay, dia natopatopan' ny alon-drano izy, fa notohain' ny rivotra.
25. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
25. A la quatrième veille de la nuit, Jésus alla vers eux, marchant sur la mer.
25. Ary tamin' ny fiambenana fahefatra amin' ny alina dia nankeny amin' ny mpianany Jesosy, nandeha teny ambonin' ny ranomasina.
26. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
26. Quand les disciples le virent marcher sur la mer, ils furent troublés, et dirent: C`est un fantôme! Et, dans leur frayeur, ils poussèrent des cris.
26. "Ary nony nahita Azy nandeha tambonin' ny ranomasina ny mpianatra, dia raiki-tahotra ka nanao hoe: Matoatoa io; dia niantsoantso izy ireo noho ny tahotra."
27. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
27. "Jésus leur dit aussitôt: Rassurez-vous, c`est moi; n`ayez pas peur!"
27. Fa niteny taminy niaraka tamin' izay Jesosy hoe: Matokia, fa Izaho ihany, aza matahotra.
28. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
28. Pierre lui répondit: Seigneur, si c`est toi, ordonne que j`aille vers toi sur les eaux.
28. Ary namaly Azy Petera ka nanao hoe: Tompoko, raha Ianao ihany, dia asaovy manatona Anao eny ambonin' ny rano aho.
29. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
29. Et il dit: Viens! Pierre sortit de la barque, et marcha sur les eaux, pour aller vers Jésus.
29. Ary hoy Izy: Manatòna. Dia nidina niala tamin' ny sambokely Petera ka nandeha tambonin' ny rano hanatona an' i Jesosy.
30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
30. "Mais, voyant que le vent était fort, il eut peur; et, comme il commençait à enfoncer, il s`écria: Seigneur, sauve-moi!"
30. Fa raha nahita ny rivotra mahery izy, dia natahotra, ary raha nanomboka nilentika izy dia niantso hoe: Tompo ô, vonjeo aho!
31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
31. Aussitôt Jésus étendit la main, le saisit, et lui dit: Homme de peu de foi, pourquoi as-tu douté?
31. Ary naninjitra ny tanany niaraka tamin' izay Jesosy, dia nandray azy ka nanao taminy hoe: Ry kely finoana, nahoana no nisalasala ianao?
32. And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
32. Et ils montèrent dans la barque, et le vent cessa.
32. Ary rehefa niakatra teo an-tsambokely izy ireo, dia nitsahatra ny rivotra.
33. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
33. Ceux qui étaient dans la barque vinrent se prosterner devant Jésus, et dirent: Tu es véritablement le Fils de Dieu.
33. Ary izay teo an-tsambokely dia niankohoka teo anatrehany ka nanao hoe: Zanak' Andriamanitra tokoa Ianao.
34. And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
34. Après avoir traversé la mer, ils vinrent dans le pays de Génésareth.
34. Ary nony tafita izy ireo, dia tonga teo amin' ny tany, any Genesareta.
35. And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
35. Les gens de ce lieu, ayant reconnu Jésus, envoyèrent des messagers dans tous les environs, et on lui amena tous les malades.
35. Ary nony nahafantatra Azy ny tompon-tany teo, dia naniraka tany amin' ny tany rehetra manodidina ka nitondra ny marary rehetra ho eo aminy.
36. And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
36. Ils le prièrent de leur permettre seulement de toucher le bord de son vêtement. Et tous ceux qui le touchèrent furent guéris.
36. "Ary nangataka taminy ireo mba hamela Azy hanendry na dia ny somotraviavin-dambany ihany aza; koa na iza na iza no nanendry dia tena salama tsara."
