1. And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
1. Jésus étant entré, un jour de sabbat, dans la maison de l`un des chefs des pharisiens, pour prendre un repas, les pharisiens l`observaient.

2. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
2. Et voici, un homme hydropique était devant lui.
2. Ary, indro, nisy olona manirano anankiray teo anatrehany.
3. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
3. Jésus prit la parole, et dit aux docteurs de la loi et aux pharisiens: Est-il permis, ou non, de faire une guérison le jour du sabbat?
3. Ary Jesosy namaly ka nanao tamin' ny mpahay lalàna sy ny Fariseo hoe: Mety va ny mahasitrana amin' ny andro sabata?
4. And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
4. Ils gardèrent le silence. Alors Jésus avança la main sur cet homme, le guérit, et le renvoya.
4. Fa tsy niteny ireo. Ary nanendry azy Izy, dia nahasitrana azy ka nandefa azy handeha.
5. And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
5. Puis il leur dit: Lequel de vous, si son fils ou son boeuf tombe dans un puits, ne l`en retirera pas aussitôt, le jour du sabbat?
5. Ary Izy namaly ireo hoe: Iza aminareo, raha manana boriky na omby latsaka ao an-davaka fantsakana, no tsy hampakatra azy miaraka amin' izay, na dia amin' ny andro sabata aza?
6. And they could not answer him again to these things.
6. Et ils ne purent rien répondre à cela.
6. Ary tsy nahavaly ny amin' izany zavatra izany ireo.
7. And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
7. "Il adressa ensuite une parabole aux conviés, en voyant qu`ils choisissaient les premières places; et il leur dit:"
7. Ary Jesosy nanao fanoharana tamin' izay nasaina, raha nahita azy mifidy ny fitoerana aloha, ka nanao taminy hoe:
8. When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
8. Lorsque tu seras invité par quelqu`un à des noces, ne te mets pas à la première place, de peur qu`il n`y ait parmi les invités une personne plus considérable que toi,
8. Raha misy maka anao ho any amin'ny fampakaram-bady, aza mipetraka eo amin' ny fitoerana aloha, fandrao hisy olona nalaina izay mihaja kokoa noho ianao,
9. And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
9. et que celui qui vous a invités l`un et l`autre ne vienne te dire: Cède la place à cette personne-là. Tu aurais alors la honte d`aller occuper la dernière place.
9. "Ary ho avy izay nanasa anao sy izy ka hilaza aminao hoe: Omeo toerana io olona io; dia ho menatra ianao ka hifindra ho any amin' ny fitoerana aoriana indrindra."
10. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
10. Mais, lorsque tu seras invité, va te mettre à la dernière place, afin que, quand celui qui t`a invité viendra, il te dise: Mon ami, monte plus haut. Alors cela te fera honneur devant tous ceux qui seront à table avec toi.
10. "Fa raha misy manasa anao, mandehana ka mipetraha eo amin' ny fitoerana aoriana indrindra, ary rehefa tonga ilay nanasa anao, dia mahazo manao aminao hoe: Ry sakaiza, mandrosoa etsy alohaloha kokoa; dia hahazo haja eo imason' izay rehetra miara-mipetraka mihinana aminao ianao:"
11. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
11. Car quiconque s`élève sera abaissé, et quiconque s`abaisse sera élevé.
11. Fa izay rehetra manandra-tena no haetry ary izay manetry tena no hasandratra.
12. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
12. Il dit aussi à celui qui l`avait invité: Lorsque tu donnes à dîner ou à souper, n`invite pas tes amis, ni tes frères, ni tes parents, ni des voisins riches, de peur qu`ils ne t`invitent à leur tour et qu`on ne te rende la pareille.
12. Ary hoy Jesosy tamin' ilay nanasa Azy kosa: Raha manasa olona amin' ny sakafo antoandro na ny sakafo hariva ianao, dia aza ny sakaizanao, na ny rahalahinao, na ny havanao, na ny namanao mpanankarena no asainao, fandrao hanasa anao kosa ireo, ka dia ho voavaliny ianao.
13. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
13. Mais, lorsque tu donnes un festin, invite des pauvres, des estropiés, des boiteux, des aveugles.
13. "Fa raha manao fanasana ianao, dia asao ny mahantra, ny kilemaina, ny mandringa, ny jamba;"
14. And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
14. "Et tu seras heureux de ce qu`ils ne peuvent pas te rendre la pareille; car elle te sera rendue à la résurrection des justes."
14. "Dia ho sambatra ianao, satria tsy mba manan-kavaly ireo; fa hovaliana kosa ianao amin' ny fitsanganan' ny marina."
15. And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
15. Un de ceux qui étaient à table, après avoir entendu ces paroles, dit à Jésus: Heureux celui qui prendra son repas dans le royaume de Dieu!
15. Ary ny anankiray tamin' izay niara-nipetraka nihinana taminy dia nandre izany ka nanao taminy hoe: Sambatra izay hihinan-kanina ao amin' ny fanjakan' Andriamanitra.
16. Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
16. Et Jésus lui répondit: Un homme donna un grand souper, et il invita beaucoup de gens.
16. Fa hoy Jesosy taminy: Nisy olona anankiray nanao fanasana lehibe amin' ny sakafo hariva ka nanasa olona maro.
17. And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
17. A l`heure du souper, il envoya son serviteur dire aux conviés: Venez, car tout est déjà prêt.
17. Ary naniraka ny mpanompony izy tamin' ny fotoan' ny sakafo hariva hilaza amin' izay efa nasaina hoe: Andeha, fa efa voaomana izao ny zavatra rehetra.
18. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
18. "Mais tous unanimement se mirent à s`excuser. Le premier lui dit: J`ai acheté un champ, et je suis obligé d`aller le voir; excuse-moi, je te prie."
18. "Fa nitovy saina izy rehetra, ka samy nanao fialana. Hoy ny voalohany taminy: Efa nividy tany aho ka tsy maintsy mandeha hizaha azy; masìna ianao, ekeo ny fandavako."
19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
19. "Un autre dit: J`ai acheté cinq paires de boeufs, et je vais les essayer; excuse-moi, je te prie."
19. "Ary hoy ny anankiray koa: Efa nividy omby mizioga dimy lomisy aho ka handeha hamantatra azy; masìna ianao, ekeo ny fandavako."
20. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
20. Un autre dit: Je viens de me marier, et c`est pourquoi je ne puis aller.
20. Ary hoy ny anankiray koa: Efa nampaka-bady aho, koa amin' izany tsy afaka mankany.
21. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
21. Le serviteur, de retour, rapporta ces choses à son maître. Alors le maître de la maison irrité dit à son serviteur: Va promptement dans les places et dans les rues de la ville, et amène ici les pauvres, les estropiés, les aveugles et les boiteux.
21. Ary nony tonga ilay mpanompo, dia nambarany tamin' ny tompony izany. Dia tezitra ny tompon-trano ka nanao tamin' ilay mpanompony hoe: Mandehana faingana ho eny amin' ny lalambe sy ny sakeli-dalana eto an-tanàna, ka ampidiro ny mahantra sy ny kilemaina sy ny mandringa ary ny jamba.
22. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
22. Le serviteur dit: Maître, ce que tu as ordonné a été fait, et il y a encore de la place.
22. Ary hoy ilay mpanompo: Tompoko, efa natao izay nandidianao, ary mbola tsy feno ihany ny trano.
23. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
23. Et le maître dit au serviteur: Va dans les chemins et le long des haies, et ceux que tu trouveras, contrains-les d`entrer, afin que ma maison soit remplie.
23. Ary hoy ny tompo tamin' ilay mpanompo: Mandehana ho eny amin' ny lalambe sy ny sisim-boly, ka tereo ny olona hiditra, mba ho feno ny tranoko.
24. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
24. Car, je vous le dis, aucun de ces hommes qui avaient été invités ne goûtera de mon souper.
24. Fa lazaiko aminareo: Tsy hisy hanandrana ny sakafo hariva nataoko ireny olona nasaiko ireny na dia iray akory aza.
25. And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
25. De grandes foules faisaient route avec Jésus. Il se retourna, et leur dit:
25. Ary nisy vahoaka betsaka niaraka tamin' i Jesosy, dia nitodika Izy ka nanao taminy hoe:
26. If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
26. Si quelqu`un vient à moi, et s`il ne hait pas son père, sa mère, sa femme, ses enfants, ses frères, et ses soeurs, et même à sa propre vie, il ne peut être mon disciple.
26. Raha misy manatona Ahy, ka tsy mankahala ny rainy sy ny reniny sy ny vadiny sy ny zanany sy ny rahalahiny sy ny anabaviny, eny, ary ny ainy koa aza, dia tsy azo ekena ho mpianatro izy.
27. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
27. Et quiconque ne porte pas sa croix, et ne me suis pas, ne peut être mon disciple.
27. Na zovy na zovy no tsy mitondra ny hazofijaliany, ka tsy manaraka Ahy, dia tsy azo ekena ho mpianatro izy.
28. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
28. Car, lequel de vous, s`il veut bâtir une tour, ne s`assied d`abord pour calculer la dépense et voir s`il a de quoi la terminer,
28. Fa iza moa aminareo, raha te-hanao tilikambo, no tsy mipetraka aloha mihevitra izay ho lany hanaovany izany, na misy hahavitany azy, na tsia?
29. Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
29. de peur qu`après avoir posé les fondements, il ne puisse l`achever, et que tous ceux qui le verront ne se mettent à le railler,
29. Fandrao, rehefa nanao ny fanorenana izy ka tsy mahavita, dia handatsa azy izay rehetra mahita,
30. Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
30. en disant: Cet homme a commencé à bâtir, et il n`a pu achever?
30. Hanao hoe: Io olona io dia nanomboka nanorina fa tsy nahavita.
31. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
31. Ou quel roi, s`il va faire la guerre à un autre roi, ne s`assied d`abord pour examiner s`il peut, avec dix mille hommes, marcher à la rencontre de celui qui vient l`attaquer avec vingt mille?
31. Ary iza moa no mpanjaka, raha handeha hiady amin' ny mpanjaka hafa, no tsy mipetraka aloha mba haka hevitra tsara, na mahay mandresy ilay mitondra roa alina amin' ny iray alina izy, na tsia?
32. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
32. S`il ne le peut, tandis que cet autre roi est encore loin, il lui envoie une ambassade pour demander la paix.
32. Fa raha tsy izany, raha mbola lavitra ny mpanjaka anankiray, dia hampitondra teny izy ka hangataka fihavanana.
33. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
33. Ainsi donc, quiconque d`entre vous ne renonce pas à tout ce qu`il possède ne peut être mon disciple.
33. Ary toy izany koa ianareo rehetra, izay tsy mahafoy izay rehetra ananany, dia tsy azo ekena ho mpianatro.
34. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
34. "Le sel est une bonne chose; mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi l`assaisonnera-t-on?"
34. "Tsara ny sira; fa raha ny sira no tonga matsatso, inona indray no hahasira azy?"
35. It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
35. "Il n`est bon ni pour la terre, ni pour le fumier; on le jette dehors. Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende."
35. Tsy mahasoa ny tany na ny zezika izy, fa harian' ny olona. Izay manan-tsofina hoenti-mihaino, aoka izy hihaino.
