Cities of Refuge

2. Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

3. That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

3. "où pourra s`enfuir le meurtrier qui aura tué quelqu`un involontairement, sans intention; elles vous serviront de refuge contre le vengeur du sang."

3. "Mba ho afa-mandositra ao izay nahafaty olona tsy nahy; dia ho fandosirana ho anareo izany mba tsy ho azon' ny mpamaly ra."

4. And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.

4. "Le meurtrier s`enfuira vers l`une de ces villes, s`arrêtera à l`entrée de la porte de la ville, et exposera son cas aux anciens de cette ville; ils le recueilleront auprès d`eux dans la ville, et lui donneront une demeure, afin qu`il habite avec eux."

4. Ary raha misy mandositra ho ao amin' ny anankiray amin' ireo tanàna ireo ka hijanona eo anoloan' ny vavahady ary handahatra ny teniny eo anatrehan' ny loholona amin' izany tanàna izany, dia hampidiriny ho ao an-tanàna izy ka homeny toerana, mba hitoetra ao aminy.

5. And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.

5. "Si le vengeur du sang le poursuit, ils ne livreront point le meurtrier entre ses mains; car c`est sans le vouloir qu`il a tué son prochain, et sans avoir été auparavant son ennemi."

5. Ary raha manenjika azy ny mpamaly ra, dia tsy hanolotra ilay nahafaty olona ho eo an-tanany izy, satria nahafaty tsy nahy ny namany izy, fa tsy nankahala azy teo aloha.

6. And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.

6. Il restera dans cette ville jusqu`à ce qu`il ait comparu devant l`assemblée pour être jugé, jusqu`à la mort du souverain sacrificateur alors en fonctions. A cette époque, le meurtrier s`en retournera et rentrera dans sa ville et dans sa maison, dans la ville d`où il s`était enfui.

6. 7. And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.

7. "Ils consacrèrent Kédesch, en Galilée, dans la montagne de Nephthali; Sichem, dans la montagne d`Éphraïm; et Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda."

7. Dia nanokana an' i Kadesy any Galilia any an-tendrombohitra Naftaly izy sy Sekema any amin' ny tendrombohitra Efraima any Kiriata-arba, Hebrona izany, any amin' ny tendrombohitr' i Joda.

8. And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

8. "Et de l`autre côté du Jourdain, à l`orient de Jéricho, ils choisirent Betser, dans le désert, dans la plaine, dans la tribu de Ruben; Ramoth, en Galaad, dans la tribu de Gad; et Golan, en Basan, dans la tribu de Manassé."

8. Ary any an-dafy atsinanan' i Jordana, tandrifin' i Jeriko dia nifidy an' i Bezera any an' efitra amin' ny tany lemaka avy amin' ny fokon' i Robena izy, sy Ramota any Gileada avy amin' ny fokon' i Gada, ary Golana any Basana avy amin' ny fokon' i Manase.

9. These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.

9. Telles furent les villes désignées pour tous les enfants d`Israël et pour l`étranger en séjour au milieu d`eux, afin que celui qui aurait tué quelqu`un involontairement pût s`y réfugier, et qu`il ne mourût pas de la main du vengeur du sang avant d`avoir comparu devant l`assemblée.

9. Ireo no tanàna voatokana ho an' ny Zanak' Isiraely rehetra sy ny vahiny izay mivahiny eo aminy, handosiran' izay rehetra nahafaty olona tsy nahy, mba tsy ho fatin' ny tanan' ny mpamaly rà izy mandra-pisehony eo anatrehan' ny fiangonana.
