Job
1. But Job answered and said,

2. Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
2. Oh! s`il était possible de peser ma douleur, Et si toutes mes calamités étaient sur la balance,
2. Enga anie ka holanjaina tokoa ny alaheloko, ka hampifandanjana amin' ny mizana izy sy ny fahoriako!
3. For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
3. "Elles seraient plus pesantes que le sable de la mer; Voilà pourquoi mes paroles vont jusqu`à la folie!"
3. Fa ankehitriny dia mavesatra noho ny fasika any an-dranomasina ny fahoriako, koa dia mirediredy aho.
4. For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
4. "Car les flèches du Tout Puissant m`ont percé, Et mon âme en suce le venin; Les terreurs de Dieu se rangent en bataille contre moi."
4. "Fa mitsatoka amiko ny zana-tsipìkan' ny Tsitoha, ka mifoka ny poizina avy aminy ny fanahiko; fa ny fampitahoran' Andriamanitra dia milahatra hamely ahy."
5. Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
5. L`âne sauvage crie-t-il auprès de l`herbe tendre? Le boeuf mugit-il auprès de son fourrage?
5. Maneno va ny boriky dia, raha eo amin' ny vilona? Na mimamà va ny omby, raha eo amin' ny fihinany?
6. Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
6. Peut-on manger ce qui est fade et sans sel? Y a-t-il de la saveur dans le blanc d`un oeuf?
6. Azo hanina va ny matsatso, raha tsy asian-tsira? Na mba misy tsirony va ny tafotsin' atody?
7. The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
7. Ce que je voudrais ne pas toucher, C`est là ma nourriture, si dégoûtante soit-elle!
7. Ny zavatra izay nolavin' ny fanahiko tsy hotendrena no toy ny hanina mampahory ahy.
8. Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
8. Puisse mon voeu s`accomplir, Et Dieu veuille réaliser mon espérance!
8. Enga anie ka ho azoko izay angatahiko, ary homen' Andriamanitra ahy anie izay iriko!
9. Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
9. Qu`il plaise à Dieu de m`écraser, Qu`il étende sa main et qu`il m`achève!
9. Ka ho sitrak' Andriamanitra anie ny hanorotoro ahy, ary halefany anie ny tanany ka hahamaito ny aiko.
10. Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
10. Il me restera du moins une consolation, Une joie dans les maux dont il m`accable: Jamais je n`ai transgressé les ordres du Saint.
10. "Dia hahazo fampiononana aho, eny, hampahery ny tenako ao amin' ny fahoriako aho, aoka tsy hitsitsy Izy; fa tsy nandà ny tenin' ny Iray Masina aho."
11. What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
11. Pourquoi espérer quand je n`ai plus de force? Pourquoi attendre quand ma fin est certaine?
11. Inona moa no heriko, no hanantena aho? ary inona no farako no hanalava ny androko aho?
12. Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
12. Ma force est-elle une force de pierre? Mon corps est-il d`airain?
12. Herim-bato va ny heriko? Na varahina va ny nofoko?
13. Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
13. Ne suis-je pas sans ressource, Et le salut n`est-il pas loin de moi?
13. Tsy efa foana va ny fanampiana ahy? Tsy efa nakifika niala tamiko va ny fahendrena?
14. To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
14. Celui qui souffre a droit à la compassion de son ami, Même quand il abandonnerait la crainte du Tout Puissant.
14. Izay ory dia tokony hanehoan' ny sakaizany indrafo, fa mahafoy ny fahatahorana ny Tsitoha izy.
15. My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
15. Mes frères sont perfides comme un torrent, Comme le lit des torrents qui disparaissent.
15. Namitaka tahaka ny renirano kely ny rahalahiko, ary mandalo tahaka ny riakan' ny renirano izy,
16. Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
16. "Les glaçons en troublent le cours, La neige s`y précipite;"
16. "Izay mainty azon' ny ranomandry sady iafenan' ny orampanala;"
17. What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
17. Viennent les chaleurs, et ils tarissent, Les feux du soleil, et leur lit demeure à sec.
17. "Fa raha taninin' ny hainandro izy dia levona; raha maina ny andro dia ritra eo amin' ny fitoerany izy;"
18. The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
18. Les caravanes se détournent de leur chemin, S`enfoncent dans le désert, et périssent.
18. "Mivilivily ny fandehany; tankina izy ka levona."
19. The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
19. "Les caravanes de Théma fixent le regard, Les voyageurs de Séba sont pleins d`espoir;"
19. "Ny antokon' i Tema mitazana, ny andian' i Sheba miandry azy;"
20. They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
20. Ils sont honteux d`avoir eu confiance, Ils restent confondus quand ils arrivent.
20. "Very hevitra ireo, satria samy nanampo; tonga teo izy, kanjo nangaihay."
21. For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
21. "Ainsi, vous êtes comme si vous n`existiez pas; Vous voyez mon angoisse, et vous en avez horreur!"
21. "Fa ankehitriny efa tsinontsinona ianareo; nahita ny fahoriako ianareo ka raiki-tahotra."
22. Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
22. Vous ai-je dit: Donnez-moi quelque chose, Faites en ma faveur des présents avec vos biens,
22. Moa va aho efa nanao hoe: Omeo aho, na mahafoiza zavatra ho ahy amin' ny fanananareo?
23. Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
23. Délivrez-moi de la main de l`ennemi, Rachetez-moi de la main des méchants?
23. Na afaho amin' ny tanan' ny fahavalo aho, na avoty amin' ny tanan' ny mahery aho.
24. Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
24. "Instruisez-moi, et je me tairai; Faites-moi comprendre en quoi j`ai péché."
24. "Mampianara ahy, dia hangina aho; ary ampahafantaro izay nahadisoako aho."
25. How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
25. Que les paroles vraies sont persuasives! Mais que prouvent vos remontrances?
25. Endrey ny herin' ny teny marina! Fa mba mahavoa inona kosa moa ny anatra ataonareo?
26. Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
26. Voulez-vous donc blâmer ce que j`ai dit, Et ne voir que du vent dans les discours d`un désespéré?
26. Moa mihevitra hananatra amin' ny teny va ianareo, fa ho amin' ny rivotra ny tenin' ny mamoy fo.
27. Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
27. Vous accablez un orphelin, Vous persécutez votre ami.
27. Eny, mandresy ny kamboty ianareo, ary mandavaka ho an' ny sakaizanareo.
28. Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
28. Regardez-moi, je vous prie! Vous mentirais-je en face?
28. Fa ankehitriny, masìna ianareo, mba atreho kely aho, dia ho hitanareo raha handainga aho.
29. Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
29. "Revenez, ne soyez pas injustes; Revenez, et reconnaissez mon innocence."
29. "Masìna ianareo, miverena, aoka tsy hisy heloka amin' izany; eny, miverena indray, fa ny fahamarinako dia mbola ao ihany."
30. Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
30. Y a-t-il de l`iniquité sur ma langue, Et ma bouche ne discerne-t-elle pas le mal?
30. Moa misy heloka va eo amin' ny lelako? Tsy mahafantatra izay ratsy va ny vavako?
