Eliphaz
1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

1. Dia namaly Elifaza Temanita ka nanao hoe:
2. If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
2. Si nous osons ouvrir la bouche, en seras-tu peiné? Mais qui pourrait garder le silence?
2. Raha misy sahy miteny aminao, dia halahelo va ianao? Nefa iza no afaka mamehy ny tenany tsy hiteny?
3. Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
3. Voici, tu as souvent enseigné les autres, Tu as fortifié les mains languissantes,
3. "Indro, efa nampianatra ny maro ianao, ary ny tanana miraviravy efa nampaherezinao;"
4. Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
4. Tes paroles ont relevé ceux qui chancelaient, Tu as affermi les genoux qui pliaient.
4. Ny teninao efa nanohana izay efa saiky lavo, ary ny lohalika malemy dia nampahatanjahinao.
5. But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
5. Et maintenant qu`il s`agit de toi, tu faiblis! Maintenant que tu es atteint, tu te troubles!
5. "Nefa ankehitriny mba manjo anao kosa izany, ka dia kivy ianao; mihatra aminao izany, ka raiki-tahotra ianao."
6. Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
6. Ta crainte de Dieu n`est-elle pas ton soutien? Ton espérance, n`est-ce pas ton intégrité?
6. Tsy izao va no tahotrao, tokinao, fanantenanao sy fahitsian' ny lalanao?
7. Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
7. Cherche dans ton souvenir: quel est l`innocent qui a péri? Quels sont les justes qui ont été exterminés?
7. Masìna ianao, tsarovy fa iza moa no very tsy nanan-tsiny? Ary taiza no nisy olo-marina naringana?
8. Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
8. "Pour moi, je l`ai vu, ceux qui labourent l`iniquité Et qui sèment l`injustice en moissonnent les fruits;"
8. Araka izay efa hitako, dia izay miasa heloka sy mamafy faharatsiana no mijinja izany.
9. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
9. Ils périssent par le souffle de Dieu, Ils sont consumés par le vent de sa colère,
9. Ny fofonain' Andriamanitra no andringanana azy, eny, ny fofonain' ny fahatezerany no mahalevona azy.
10. The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
10. "Le rugissement des lions prend fin, Les dents des lionceaux sont brisées;"
10. "Ny fieron' ny liona sy ny feon' ny liona masiaka ary ny nifin' ny liona tanora dia ombotana;"
11. The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.
11. Le lion périt faute de proie, Et les petits de la lionne se dispersent.
11. Maty ny liona antitra noho ny tsy fahitana remby, ary miely ny zanaky ny liona matanjaka.
12. Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
12. Une parole est arrivée furtivement jusqu`à moi, Et mon oreille en a recueilli les sons légers.
12. Nisy teny tonga tamiko mangingina, ary ny sofiko nahare kely avy amin' izany.
13. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
13. Au moment où les visions de la nuit agitent la pensée, Quand les hommes sont livrés à un profond sommeil,
13. Tamin' ny eritreritra avy amin' ny fahitana amin' ny alina, raha sondrian-tory ny olona,
14. Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
14. Je fus saisi de frayeur et d`épouvante, Et tous mes os tremblèrent.
14. Dia azon-tahotra sy hovitra aho, izay nampihorohoro ny taolako rehetra.
15. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
15. Un esprit passa près de moi... Tous mes cheveux se hérissèrent...
15. Ary nisy fanahy nandalo teo anatrehako ka nampitsangam-bolo ny tenako.
16. It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
16. Une figure d`un aspect inconnu était devant mes yeux, Et j`entendis une voix qui murmurait doucement:
16. "Nijanona izy, nefa tsy nahafantatra izay bikany aho; nisy endri-javatra teo anoloan' ny masoko; nisy fahanginana, ary dia nandre feo aho nanao hoe:"
17. Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
17. L`homme serait-il juste devant Dieu? Serait-il pur devant celui qui l`a fait?
17. Ny olombelona mety maty va ho masina noho Andriamanitra? Ho madio noho ny Mpanao azy va ny olona?
18. Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
18. Si Dieu n`a pas confiance en ses serviteurs, S`il trouve de la folie chez ses anges,
18. "Indro, tsy matoky ny mpanompony Izy; ary ny anjeliny aza nahitany fahadalana teo anatrehany;"
19. How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
19. Combien plus chez ceux qui habitent des maisons d`argile, Qui tirent leur origine de la poussière, Et qui peuvent être écrasés comme un vermisseau!
19. "Koa mainka izay mitoetra ao an-trano tanimanga, izay ao amin' ny vovoka ny fanorenany ary torotoro noho ny kalalao izy;"
20. They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
20. "Du matin au soir ils sont brisés, Ils périssent pour toujours, et nul n`y prend garde;"
20. "Ringana hatramin' ny maraina ka hatramin' ny hariva izy; levona mandrakizay ka tsy misy misaina izany."
21. Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
21. Le fil de leur vie est coupé, Ils meurent, et ils n`ont pas acquis la sagesse.
21. Tsy miala va ny voninahiny eo aminy? Maty tsy manam-pahendrena izy.
