Job Speaks
1. After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.
1. Après cela, Job ouvrit la bouche et maudit le jour de sa naissance.
1. "Rehefa afaka izany, dia niloa-bava Joba ka nanozona ny androny;"
2. And Job spake, and said,
2. Il prit la parole et dit:
2. Dia niteny Joba ka nanao hoe:
3. Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
3. Périsse le jour où je suis né, Et la nuit qui dit: Un enfant mâle est conçu!
3. Foàna anie ny andro nahaterahako sy ny alina izay nanao hoe: Misy zazalahy vao torontoronina !
4. Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
4. Ce jour! qu`il se change en ténèbres, Que Dieu n`en ait point souci dans le ciel, Et que la lumière ne rayonne plus sur lui!
4. "Aoka izany andro izany ho fahamaizinana, ary aoka tsy hitady azy Andriamanitra any ambony; ary aoka tsy hisy mazava hamirapiratra aminy;"
5. Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
5. Que l`obscurité et l`ombre de la mort s`en emparent, Que des nuées établissent leur demeure au-dessus de lui, Et que de noirs phénomènes l`épouvantent!
5. "Aoka ny haizina sy ny aloky ny fahafatesana handoto azy; aoka ny rahona hitatao eo amboniny; aoka ny hamaintisan' ny andro hampahatoran-kovitra azy."
6. As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
6. Cette nuit! que les ténèbres en fassent leur proie, Qu`elle disparaisse de l`année, Qu`elle ne soit plus comptée parmi les mois!
6. "Ary ny amin' izany alina izany, dia aoka ny haizim-pito hisambotra azy; aoka tsy hakambana amin' ny andron' ny taona izy, ary tsy ho tonga amin' ny isan' ny volana;"
7. Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
7. Que cette nuit devienne stérile, Que l`allégresse en soit bannie!
7. "Indro, aoka ho manirery izany alina izany; aoka tsy hisy feo fifaliana ho tonga ao."
8. Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.
8. Qu`elle soit maudite par ceux qui maudissent les jours, Par ceux qui savent exciter le léviathan!
8. Aoka hanozona azy ny mpanozona andro, izay vonona hamoha ny alahelony.
9. Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:
9. Que les étoiles de son crépuscule s`obscurcissent, Qu`elle attende en vain la lumière, Et qu`elle ne voie point les paupières de l`aurore!
9. "Aoka ho maizina ny kintan' ny marainany; aoka hiandry ny mazava izy, nefa tsy hisy, ary aoka tsy ho faly mahita ny hodimason' ny maraina izy;"
10. Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.
10. Car elle n`a pas fermé le sein qui me conçut, Ni dérobé la souffrance à mes regards.
10. Satria tsy nanidy ny varavaran' ny kibon' ny reniko izy, na nanafina fahoriana tamin' ny masoko.
11. Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
11. Pourquoi ne suis-je pas mort dans le ventre de ma mère? Pourquoi n`ai-je pas expiré au sortir de ses entrailles?
11. Nahoana re aho no tsy maty hatrany am-bohoka ê, ary nanolotra ny fanahy fony vao nivoaka avy tany an-kibo ê?
12. Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?
12. Pourquoi ai-je trouvé des genoux pour me recevoir, Et des mamelles pour m`allaiter?
12. Nahoana no nisy lohalika niandry ahy? Ary nahoana no nisy nono hinonoako?
13. For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
13. Je serais couché maintenant, je serais tranquille, Je dormirais, je reposerais,
13. Fa raha tsy izany, dia efa nandry aho toy izay ka niadana, eny, natory aho ka afa-tsasatra,
14. With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;
14. Avec les rois et les grands de la terre, Qui se bâtirent des mausolées,
14. Teo amin' ny mpanjaka sy ny mpanolo-tsaina avy amin' ny tany, izay namboatra toerana efa rava ho azy.
15. Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:
15. Avec les princes qui avaient de l`or, Et qui remplirent d`argent leurs demeures.
15. "Na teo amin' ny andriandahy izay manana volamena sady mameno volafotsy ny tranony;"
16. Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.
16. Ou je n`existerais pas, je serais comme un avorton caché, Comme des enfants qui n`ont pas vu la lumière.
16. Na efa tsy ary toy ny zaza tsy tonga volana aho ka nafenina, dia toy ny zaza izay tsy nahita ny mazava akory.
17. There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.
17. "Là ne s`agitent plus les méchants, Et là se reposent ceux qui sont fatigués et sans force;"
17. "Any no itsaharan' ny ratsy fanahy amin' ny fanakorontanana, ary any ny reraka no afa-tsasatra;"
18. There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.
18. "Les captifs sont tous en paix, Ils n`entendent pas la voix de l`oppresseur;"
18. "Miara-mitsahatra any avokoa ny mpifatotra; tsy mandre ny feon' ny mpampahory izy."
19. The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.
19. Le petit et le grand sont là, Et l`esclave n`est plus soumis à son maître.
19. Samy any ny kely sy ny lehibe, ary ny mpanompo dia afaka amin' ny tompony.
20. Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
20. Pourquoi donne-t-il la lumière à celui qui souffre, Et la vie à ceux qui ont l`amertume dans l`âme,
20. "Nahoana no fahazavana no mba omena izay anaty fahoriana, ary fiainana no ho an' izay latsaka amin' ny fangidiana ;"
21. Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;
21. Qui espèrent en vain la mort, Et qui la convoitent plus qu`un trésor,
21. "Izay miandry fahafatesana, nefa tsy avy izany, sady mitady azy mihoatra noho ny fitady tahiry nafenina;"
22. Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
22. Qui seraient transportés de joie Et saisis d`allégresse, s`ils trouvaient le tombeau?
22. Izay faly indrindra sady ravoravo, raha mahita ny fasana,
23. Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?
23. A l`homme qui ne sait où aller, Et que Dieu cerne de toutes parts?
23. Nahoana no mazava no omena ny olona izay miafina ny lalany sady voafefin' Andriamanitra manodidina?
24. For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.
24. Mes soupirs sont ma nourriture, Et mes cris se répandent comme l`eau.
24. "Fa mialoha ny haniko ny fitolokoako, ary migororoana toy ny rano ny fidradradradrako;"
25. For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
25. "Ce que je crains, c`est ce qui m`arrive; Ce que je redoute, c`est ce qui m`atteint."
25. Fa ny zavatra izay natahorako indrindra no mahazo ahy, ary izay nampahatahotra ahy no manjo ahy.
26. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
26. Je n`ai ni tranquillité, ni paix, ni repos, Et le trouble s`est emparé de moi.
26. Tsy mbola nahita fiadanana, na fitsaharana, na fakana aina akory aho, dia tonga ny tebiteby.
