Drought, Famine, Sword
1. The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
1. La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par l`Éternel, à l`occasion de la sécheresse.

2. Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
2. Juda est dans le deuil, Ses villes sont désolées, tristes, abattues, Et les cris de Jérusalem s`élèvent.

3. And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
3. "Les grands envoient les petits chercher de l`eau, Et les petits vont aux citernes, ne trouvent point d`eau, Et retournent avec leurs vases vides; Confus et honteux, ils se couvrent la tête."

4. Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
4. La terre est saisie d`épouvante, Parce qu`il ne tombe point de pluie dans le pays, Et les laboureurs confus se couvrent la tête.
4. Noho ny fitresaky ny tany, satria tsy nilatsahan' ny ranonorana ny tany, dia menatra ny mpiasa tany ka nisaron-doha.
5. Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
5. Même la biche dans la campagne Met bas et abandonne sa portée, Parce qu`il n`y a point de verdure.
5. Eny, ny dieravavy koa, raha niteraka tany an-tsaha, dia nilaozany izany, noho ny tsy fisian' ny ahi-maitso.
6. And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
6. "Les ânes sauvages se tiennent sur les lieux élevés, Aspirant l`air comme des serpents; Leurs yeux languissent, parce qu`il n`y a point d`herbe."

7. O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
7. Si nos iniquités témoignent contre nous, Agis à cause de ton nom, ô Éternel! Car nos infidélités sont nombreuses, Nous avons péché contre toi.
7. "Ry Jehovah ô, na dia miampanga anay aza ny helokay, miasà ihany Ianao noho ny anaranao; fa be ny fiodinanay, taminao no nanotanay."
8. O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
8. Toi qui es l`espérance d`Israël, Son sauveur au temps de la détresse, Pourquoi serais-tu comme un étranger dans le pays, Comme un voyageur qui y entre pour passer la nuit?
8. "Ry fanantenan' ny Isiraely ô, Mpamonjy azy amin' ny andro fahoriana; nahoana Ianao no dia ho toy ny vahiny amin' ny tany ary toy ny mpandeha izay mivily handry indray alina?"
9. Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
9. Pourquoi serais-tu comme un homme stupéfait, Comme un héros incapable de nous secourir? Tu es pourtant au milieu de nous, ô Éternel, Et ton nom est invoqué sur nous: Ne nous abandonne pas!
9. "Nahoana Ianao no dia ho toy ny olona ankona ary toy ny lehilahy mahery tsy mahavonjy? Nefa mbola ato aminay ihany ianao, Jehovah ô, ary antsoina amin' ny anaranao izahay; aza dia mandao anay."
10. Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
10. "Voici ce que l`Éternel dit de ce peuple: Ils aiment à courir çà et là, Ils ne savent retenir leurs pieds; L`Éternel n`a point d`attachement pour eux, Il se souvient maintenant de leurs crimes, Et il châtie leurs péchés."
10. Izao no lazain' i Jehovah amin' ity firenena ity: Te-hirenireny toy izao izy, ka tsy nampijanona ny tongony, noho izany dia tsy sitrak' i Jehovah izy, ankehitriny dia ho tsaroany ny helony, ary hovaliany ny fahotany.
11. Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
11. Et l`Éternel me dit: N`intercède pas en faveur de ce peuple.
11. Dia hoy Jehovah tamiko: Aza mivavaka ho an' ity firenena ity hahasoa azy.
12. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
12. "S`ils jeûnent, je n`écouterai pas leurs supplications; S`ils offrent des holocaustes et des offrandes, je ne les agréerai pas; Car je veux les détruire par l`épée, par la famine et par la peste."
12. "Raha mifady hanina izy, dia tsy hihaino ny fitarainany Aho; ary raha manatitra fanatitra dorana sy fanatitra hohanina izy, dia tsy hankasitraka azy Aho, fa haripako amin' ny sabatra sy ny mosary ary ny areti-mandringana izy."
13. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
13. "Je répondis: Ah! Seigneur Éternel! Voici, les prophètes leur disent: Vous ne verrez point d`épée, Vous n`aurez point de famine; Mais je vous donnerai dans ce lieu une paix assurée."
13. "Dia hoy aho: Indrisy, Jehovah Andriamanitra ô! Indreo ny mpaminany manao aminy hoe: Tsy hiharan' ny sabatra ianareo, ary tsy ho mosarena; fa homeko fiadanana maharitra eto amin' ity tany ity ianareo."
14. Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
14. "Et l`Éternel me dit: C`est le mensonge que prophétisent en mon nom les prophètes; Je ne les ai point envoyés, je ne leur ai point donné d`ordre, Je ne leur ai point parlé; Ce sont des visions mensongères, de vaines prédictions, Des tromperies de leur coeur, qu`ils vous prophétisent."
14. "Dia hoy Jehovah tamiko: Ireo mpaminany ireo dia maminany lainga amin' ny anarako; tsy naniraka azy Aho, na nandidy azy, na niteny taminy; fa fahitana mandainga sy faminaniana tsy marina ary tsinontsinona sy fitaky ny fony no aminaniany aminareo."
15. Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
15. C`est pourquoi ainsi parle l`Éternel Sur les prophètes qui prophétisent en mon nom, Sans que je les aie envoyés, Et qui disent: Il n`y aura dans ce pays ni épée ni famine: Ces prophètes périront par l`épée et par la famine.
15. Koa izao no lazain' i Jehovah ny amin' ireo mpaminany izay maminany amin' ny anarako ireo, nefa tsy nirahiko tsinona, ka milaza fa tsy hisy sabatra sy mosary eto amin' ity tany ity: ny sabatra sy ny mosary no handringanana ireo mpaminany ireo.
16. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
16. "Et ceux à qui ils prophétisent Seront étendus dans les rues de Jérusalem, Par la famine et par l`épée; Il n`y aura personne pour leur donner la sépulture, Ni à eux, ni à leurs femmes, ni à leurs fils, ni à leurs filles; Je répandrai sur eux leur méchanceté."
16. Ary ny firenena izay aminanian' ireo dia hiely faty eny an-dalamben' i Jerosalema, noho ny mosary sy ny sabatra, ka tsy hisy mpandevina ireny, na ny tenany, na ny vadiny, na ny zanany lahy, na ny zanany vavy, fa haidiko ao aminy ny faharatsiany.
17. Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
17. "Dis-leur cette parole: Les larmes coulent de mes yeux nuit et jour, Et elles ne s`arrêtent pas; Car la vierge, fille de mon peuple, a été frappée d`un grand coup, D`une plaie très douloureuse."
17. "Koa lazao aminy izao teny izao: Aoka ny masoko hijononoka ranomaso andro amin' alina ka tsy hitsahatra; fa ny virijina zanakavavin' ny oloko dia maratra mafy dia mafy tamin' ny kapoka maharary indrindra."
18. If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
18. "Si je vais dans les champs, voici des hommes que le glaive a percés; Si j`entre dans la ville, voici des êtres que consume la faim; Le prophète même et le sacrificateur parcourent le pays, Sans savoir où ils vont."
18. Raha mivoaka any an-tsaha aho, dia indreny ny matin-tsabatra, ary raha miditra ao an-tanàna kosa aho, dia indreo ny mararin' ny mosary! eny, ny mpaminany sy ny mpisorona dia mirenireny mankamin' ny tany tsy fantany.
19. Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!
19. As-tu donc rejeté Juda, Et ton âme a-t-elle pris Sion en horreur? Pourquoi nous frappes-tu Sans qu`il y ait pour nous de guérison? Nous espérions la paix, et il n`arrive rien d`heureux, Un temps de guérison, et voici la terreur!
19. Efa narianao tanteraka va Joda? Efa naharikoriko ny fanahinao va Ziona? nahoana no dia mamely anay Ianao, ka tsy misy fanasitranana ho anay? Nanantena fiadanana izahay, kanjo tsy nahita soa, ary fotoana fanasitranana, fa indro fahoriana.
20. We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.
20. "Éternel, nous reconnaissons notre méchanceté, l`iniquité de nos pères; Car nous avons péché contre toi."
20. "Jehovah ô, ekenay ny faharatsianay sy ny heloky ny razanay; fa efa nanota taminao izahay."
21. Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
21. A cause de ton nom, ne méprise pas, Ne déshonore pas le trône de ta gloire! N`oublie pas, ne romps pas ton alliance avec nous!
21. "Noho ny amin' ny anaranao dia aza mankahala anay; aza atao ho tsinontsinona ny sezafiandrianan' ny voninahitrao; tsarovy, ka aza tsoahanao ny fanekenao taminay."
22. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
22. Parmi les idoles des nations, en est-il qui fassent pleuvoir? Ou est-ce le ciel qui donne la pluie? N`est-ce pas toi, Éternel, notre Dieu? Nous espérons en toi, Car c`est toi qui as fait toutes ces choses.
