Water From the Rock
1. And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
1. "Toute l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël partit du désert de Sin, selon les marches que l`Éternel leur avait ordonnées; et ils campèrent à Rephidim, où le peuple ne trouva point d`eau à boire."
1. "Ary niala tao an' efitra Sina ny fiangonan' ny Zanak' Isiraely rehetra, araka ny lalany izay nandidian' i Jehovah, ka nitoby tao Refidima; ary tsy nisy rano hosotroin' ny olona."
2. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
2. Alors le peuple chercha querelle à Moïse. Ils dirent: Donnez-nous de l`eau à boire. Moïse leur répondit: Pourquoi me cherchez-vous querelle? Pourquoi tentez-vous l`Éternel?
2. Noho izany dia nila ady tamin' i Mosesy ny olona ka nanao hoe: Omeo rano izahay mba hosotroinay. Ary hoy Mosesy taminy: Nahoana no mila ady amiko ianareo? Nahoana no maka fanahy an' i Jehovah ianareo?
3. And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
3. Le peuple était là, pressé par la soif, et murmurait contre Moïse. Il disait: Pourquoi nous as-tu fait monter hors d`Égypte, pour me faire mourir de soif avec mes enfants et mes troupeaux?
3. "Ary nangetaheta rano teo ny olona; dia nimonomonona tamin' i Mosesy ny olona ka nanao hoe: Inona izao nitondranao anay niakatra niala tany Egypta izao, hahafatin-ketaheta anay sy ny zanakay ary ny biby fiompinay?"
4. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
4. Moïse cria à l`Éternel, en disant: Que ferai-je à ce peuple? Encore un peu, et ils me lapideront.
4. Ary Mosesy nitaraina tamin' i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Inona no hataoko amin' ireto olona ireto? fa mila hitora-bato ahy izy.
5. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
5. "L`Éternel dit à Moïse: Passe devant le peuple, et prends avec toi des anciens d`Israël; prends aussi dans ta main ta verge avec laquelle tu as frappé le fleuve, et marche!"
5. "Ary hoy Jehovah tamin' i Mosesy: Mandrosoa eo anoloan' ny olona, ary itondray hiaraka aminao ny loholon' ny Isiraely; ary ny tehinao ilay nikapohanao ny renirano, dia ento eny an-tananao ka mandehana."
6. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
6. "Voici, je me tiendrai devant toi sur le rocher d`Horeb; tu frapperas le rocher, et il en sortira de l`eau, et le peuple boira. Et Moïse fit ainsi, aux yeux des anciens d`Israël."
6. Ary indro, hitsangana eo anatrehanao eo ambonin' ny vatolampy any Horeba Aho, dia hikapoka ny vatolampy ianao, ka hisy rano hivoaka avy aminy hosotroin' ny olona. Dia nanao izany Mosesy teo imason' ny loholon' ny Isiraely.
7. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
7. Il donna à ce lieu le nom de Massa et Meriba, parce que les enfants d`Israël avaient contesté, et parce qu`ils avaient tenté l`Éternel, en disant: L`Éternel est-il au milieu de nous, ou n`y est-il pas?

The Amalekites Defeated
8. Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

8. Dia tonga Amaleka ka niady tamin' ny Isiraely tao Refidima.
9. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
9. "Alors Moïse dit à Josué: Choisis-nous des hommes, sors, et combats Amalek; demain je me tiendrai sur le sommet de la colline, la verge de Dieu dans ma main."
9. "Ary hoy Mosesy tamin' i Josoa: Mifidiana lehilahy ho antsika, dia mivoaha hiady amin' i Amaleka; rahampitso dia hijoro eo an-tampon' ny havoana aho miaraka amin' ny tehin' Andriamanitra ety an-tanako."
10. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
10. Josué fit ce que lui avait dit Moïse, pour combattre Amalek. Et Moïse, Aaron et Hur montèrent au sommet de la colline.
10. "Ary Josoa dia nanao araka izay nandidian' i Mosesy azy ka niady tamin' i Amaleka; ary Mosesy sy arona ary Hora niakatra ho ao an-tampon' ny havoana."
11. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
11. "Lorsque Moïse élevait sa main, Israël était le plus fort; et lorsqu`il baissait sa main, Amalek était le plus fort."
11. "Ary izao no niseho, rehefa nasandratr' i Mosesy ny tanany, dia nahery ny Isiraely; fa rehefa nampidininy ny tanany, dia nahery amaleka."
12. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
12. "Les mains de Moïse étant fatiguées, ils prirent une pierre qu`ils placèrent sous lui, et il s`assit dessus. Aaron et Hur soutenaient ses mains, l`un d`un côté, l`autre de l`autre; et ses mains restèrent fermes jusqu`au coucher du soleil."
12. "Fa navesatra ny tanan' i Mosesy; ka dia naka vato izy ireo, ary nataony teo ambanin' i Mosesy hipetrahany: ary Arona sy Hora dia nanohana ny tanany, ka ny iray tamin' ny anila, ary ny iray tamin' ny anila; ary tsy nihetsika ny tanany mandra-pilentiky ny masoandro."
13. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
13. Et Josué vainquit Amalek et son peuple, au tranchant de l`épée.
13. Ary Josoa nandresy an' i Amaleka sy ny olony tamin' ny lelan-tsabatra.
14. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
14. L`Éternel dit à Moïse: Écris cela dans le livre, pour que le souvenir s`en conserve, et déclare à Josué que j`effacerai la mémoire d`Amalek de dessous les cieux.
14. "Ary hoy Jehovah tamin' i Mosesy: Soraty izany ho fahatsiarovana eo amin' ny boky, ary averimbereno eo an-tsofin' i Josoa izany; fa hofoanako tanteraka ny fahatsiarovana an' i Amaleka tsy ho eny ambanin' ny lanitra."
15. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
15. Moïse bâtit un autel, et lui donna pour nom: l`Éternel ma bannière.
15. Ary nanorina alitara Mosesy ka nanao ny anarany hoe: Jehovah-nisì.
16. For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
16. Il dit: Parce que la main a été levée sur le trône de l`Éternel, il y aura guerre de l`Éternel contre Amalek, de génération en génération.
