Manna and Quail
1. And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
1. Toute l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël partit d`Élim, et ils arrivèrent au désert de Sin, qui est entre Élim et Sinaï, le quinzième jour du second mois après leur sortie du pays d`Égypte.

2. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
2. Et toute l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël murmura dans le désert contre Moïse et Aaron.

3. And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
3. Les enfants d`Israël leur dirent: Que ne sommes-nous morts par la main de l`Éternel dans le pays d`Égypte, quand nous étions assis près des pots de viande, quand nous mangions du pain à satiété? car vous nous avez menés dans ce désert pour faire mourir de faim toute cette multitude.
3. "Ary hoy ny Zanak' Isiraely taminy: Inay anie izahay mba matin' ny tanan' i Jehovah tany amin' ny tany Egypta raha nipetraka teo anilan' ny fandrahoan-kena ka nihinan-kanina ho voky; fa nitondra anay nivoaka ho aty an' efitra ianareo hahafaty mosary izao fiangonana rehetra izao."
4. Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
4. L`Éternel dit à Moïse: Voici, je ferai pleuvoir pour vous du pain, du haut des cieux. Le peuple sortira, et en ramassera, jour par jour, la quantité nécessaire, afin que je le mette à l`épreuve, et que je voie s`il marchera, ou non, selon ma loi.
4. "Ary hoy Jehovah tamin' i Mosesy: Indro, handatsaka mofo avy any an-danitra ho anareo Aho; dia hivoaka ny olona ka hanangona izay sahaza hohaniny isan' andro, mba hizahako toetra azy na handeha araka ny lalàko izy na tsia."
5. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
5. Le sixième jour, lorsqu`ils prépareront ce qu`ils auront apporté, il s`en trouvera le double de ce qu`ils ramasseront jour par jour.

6. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
6. Moïse et Aaron dirent à tous les enfants d`Israël: Ce soir, vous comprendrez que c`est l`Éternel qui vous a fait sortir du pays d`Égypte.
6. "Ary hoy Mosesy sy Arona tamin' ny Zanak' Isiraely rehetra: Amin' ny hariva dia ho fantatrareo fa Jehovah no nitondra anareo nivoaka avy tany amin' ny tany Egypta;"
7. And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
7. "Et, au matin, vous verrez la gloire de l`Éternel, parce qu`il a entendu vos murmures contre l`Éternel; car que sommes-nous, pour que vous murmuriez contre nous?"
7. "Ary raha maraina, dia ho hitanareo ny voninahitr' i Jehovah; fa efa reny ny fimonomononanareo tamin' i Jehovah; fa izahay moa no inona no imonomononanareo?"
8. And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.
8. "Moïse dit: L`Éternel vous donnera ce soir de la viande à manger, et au matin du pain à satiété, parce que l`Éternel a entendu les murmures que vous avez proférés contre lui; car que sommes-nous? Ce n`est pas contre nous que sont vos murmures, c`est contre l`Éternel."
8. "Ary hoy Mosesy: Izao no hisy, rehefa homen' i Jehovah hena hohanina ianareo rahariva, sy mofo hahavoky raha maraina; fa ren' i Jehovah ny fimonomononanareo izay imonomononanareo aminy; fa izahay moa no inona? Tsy izahay no imonomononanareo, fa Jehovah."
9. And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.
9. Moïse dit à Aaron: Dis à toute l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël: Approchez-vous devant l`Éternel, car il a entendu vos murmures.
9. "Ary hoy Mosesy tamin' i Arona: Lazao amin' ny fiangonan' ny Isiraely rehetra hoe: Manatòna eo anatrehan' i Jehovah; fa efa reny ny fimonomononanareo."
10. And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.
10. Et tandis qu`Aaron parlait à toute l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël, ils se tournèrent du côté du désert, et voici, la gloire de l`Éternel parut dans la nuée.
10. Ary izao no niseho, raha mbola niteny tamin'ny fiangonan' ny Zanak' Isiraely manontolo Arona, dia nijery nanatrika ny efitra izy ireo, ka indro, niseho teo amin' ny rahona ny voninahitr' i Jehovah.
11. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11. L`Éternel, s`adressant à Moïse, dit:
11. Ary niteny tamin' i Mosesy Jehovah ka nanao hoe:
12. I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
12. "J`ai entendu les murmures des enfants d`Israël. Dis-leur: Entre les deux soirs vous mangerez de la viande, et au matin vous vous rassasierez de pain; et vous saurez que je suis l`Éternel, votre Dieu."
12. "Efa reko ny fimonomononan' ny Zanak' Isiraely, ka lazao aminy hoe: Amin' ny takariva dia hihinan-kena ianareo, ary amin' ny maraina dia ho voky mofo ianareo; dia ho fantatrareo fa izaho no Jehovah Andriamanitrareo."
13. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
13. "Le soir, il survint des cailles qui couvrirent le camp; et, au matin, il y eut une couche de rosée autour du camp."
13. "Ary izao no niseho, nony takariva dia niakatra ny papelika ka nandrakotra ny toby; ary nony maraina dia nanodidina ny toby ny ando."
14. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.
14. Quand cette rosée fut dissipée, il y avait à la surface du désert quelque chose de menu comme des grains, quelque chose de menu comme la gelée blanche sur la terre.
14. Ary nony niala ny ando, dia indro, nisy zava-madinika boribory toy ny fanala amin' ny tany.
15. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
15. Les enfants d`Israël regardèrent et ils se dirent l`un à l`autre: Qu`est-ce que cela? car ils ne savaient pas ce que c`était. Moïse leur dit: C`est le pain que L`Éternel vous donne pour nourriture.
15. "Ary rehefa hitan' ny Zanak' Isiraely izany dia nifampilaza izy hoe: Mana itony; satria tsy fantany izany. Dia hoy Mosesy taminy: Itony no mofo izay nomen' i Jehovah ho fihinanareo."
16. This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
16. "Voici ce que l`Éternel a ordonné: Que chacun de vous en ramasse ce qu`il faut pour sa nourriture, un omer par tête, suivant le nombre de vos personnes; chacun en prendra pour ceux qui sont dans sa tente."
16. " Izao no zavatra izay nandidian' i Jehovah: samia manangona araka izay fihinany, omera iray isan' olona, araka ny isan' ny olonareo; samia maka ho an' ireo ao an-dainy avy."
17. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
17. "Les Israélites firent ainsi; et ils en ramassèrent les uns en plus, les autres moins."
17. Dia nanao izany ny Zanak' Isiraely, ka nanangona, ny sasany be, ny sasany kely.
18. And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
18. "On mesurait ensuite avec l`omer; celui qui avait ramassé plus n`avait rien de trop, et celui qui avait ramassé moins n`en manquait pas. Chacun ramassait ce qu`il fallait pour sa nourriture."
18. Ary rehefa nafatrany tamin' ny omera izany, izay nanangona be dia tsy nanana amby, ary izay nanangona kely tsy nanana ny tsy ampy: samy nanangona araka izay fihinany avy izy ireo.
19. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
19. Moïse leur dit: Que personne n`en laisse jusqu`au matin.
19. Ary hoy Mosesy taminy: aza misy mamela ho tra-maraina.
20. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
20. "Ils n`écoutèrent pas Moïse, et il y eut des gens qui en laissèrent jusqu`au matin; mais il s`y mit des vers, et cela devint infect. Moïse fut irrité contre ces gens."
20. "Nefa tsy nihaino an' i Mosesy izy ireo; fa ny sasany namela sisa ho tra-maraina, dia niteraka olitra izany ka maimbo; ary dia tezitra tamin' ireo Mosesy."
21. And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
21. "Tous les matins, chacun ramassait ce qu`il fallait pour sa nourriture; et quand venait la chaleur du soleil, cela fondait."
21. "Ary nanangona izany isa-maraina izy ireo, samy araka izay fihinany avy; ary nony nihanafana ny andro dia levona izany."
22. And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
22. Le sixième jour, ils ramassèrent une quantité double de nourriture, deux omers pour chacun. Tous les principaux de l`assemblée vinrent le rapporter à Moïse.
22. "Ary izao no niseho, nony tamin' ny andro fahenina dia nanangona mofo avo roa heny izy ireo, omera roa isan' olona; dia avy ny mpanapaka ny fiangonana rehetra ka nanambara tamin' i Mosesy."
23. And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
23. "Et Moïse leur dit: C`est ce que l`Éternel a ordonné. Demain est le jour du repos, le sabbat consacré à l`Éternel; faites cuire ce que vous avez à faire cuire, faites bouillir ce que vous avez à faire bouillir, et mettez en réserve jusqu`au matin tout ce qui restera."
23. "Ary hoy Mosesy tamin' ireo: Izao no lazain' i Jehovah: Rahampitso no fitsaharana ho sabata masina ho an' i Jehovah; manendasa izay hendasinareo anio, ary ampangotrahy izay hampangotrahanareo; ary izay sisa dia avelao ho anareo hotehirizina ho tra-maraina."
24. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
24. "Ils le laissèrent jusqu`au matin, comme Moïse l`avait ordonné; et cela ne devint point infect, et il ne s`y mit point de vers."
24. "Dia namela izany ho tra-maraina izy, araka izay nandidian' i Mosesy; ary tsy mba maimbo na niteraka olitra izany."
25. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
25. "Moïse dit: Mangez-le aujourd`hui, car c`est le jour du sabbat; aujourd`hui vous n`en trouverez point dans la campagne."
25. "Ary hoy Mosesy: Hano izany anio, fa sabata ho an' i Jehovah anio; tsy hahita izany any an-tsaha ianareo anio."
26. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
26. "Pendant six jours vous en ramasserez; mais le septième jour, qui est le sabbat, il n`y en aura point."
26. Henemana no hanangonanareo izany, fa amin' ny andro fahafito izay sabata, dia tsy hisy amin' izany.
27. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
27. Le septième jour, quelques-uns du peuple sortirent pour en ramasser, et ils n`en trouvèrent point.
27. Ary izao no niseho, nony tamin' ny andro fahafito, dia nivoaka hanangona ny sasany tamin' ny olona, fa tsy nahita.
28. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
28. Alors l`Éternel dit à Moïse: Jusques à quand refuserez-vous d`observer mes commandements et mes lois?
28. Ary hoy Jehovah tamin' i Mosesy: Mandra-pahoviana no handavanareo tsy hitandrina ny didiko sy ny lalàko?
29. See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
29. "Considérez que l`Éternel vous a donné le sabbat; c`est pourquoi il vous donne au sixième jour de la nourriture pour deux jours. Que chacun reste à sa place, et que personne ne sorte du lieu où il est au septième jour."
29. Jereo fa Jehovah no nanome anareo ny sabata, noho izany no anomezany anareo mofo ho amin' ny indroa andro amin' ny andro fahenina. Samia mitoetra eo amin' ny fitoerany avy ianareo, aoka tsy hisy hiala amin' ny fitoerany amin' ny andro fahafito.
30. So the people rested on the seventh day.
30. Et le peuple se reposa le septième jour.
30. Dia nitsahatra ny olona tamin' ny andro fahafito.
31. And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
31. "La maison d`Israël donna à cette nourriture le nom de manne. Elle ressemblait à de la graine de coriandre; elle était blanche, et avait le goût d`un gâteau au miel."
31. "Ary ny anarany dia nataon' ny taranak' Isiraely hoe: Mana; ary fotsy tahaka ny voan-drafy izy; ary ny tsirony dia toy ny mofo manify misy tantely."
32. And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
32. Moïse dit: Voici ce que l`Éternel a ordonné: Qu`un omer rempli de manne soit conservé pour vos descendants, afin qu`ils voient le pain que je vous ai fait manger dans le désert, après vous avoir fait sortir du pays d`Égypte.
32. "Ary hoy Mosesy: Izao no zavatra izay andidian' i Jehovah: Fenoy izany ny omera iray mba hotehirizina ho an' ny taranakareo; mba ho hitany ny mofo izay namahanako anareo tany an' efitra raha nitondra anareo Aho."
33. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
33. Et Moïse dit à Aaron: Prends un vase, mets-y de la manne plein un omer, et dépose-le devant l`Éternel, afin qu`il soit conservé pour vos descendants.
33. Ary hoy Mosesy tamin' i arona: Makà vilany ka asio mana iray omera feno ao anatiny, dia apetraho eo anatrehan' i Jehovah mba hotehirizina ho an' ny taranakareo.
34. As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
34. Suivant l`ordre donné par l`Éternel à Moïse, Aaron le déposa devant le témoignage, afin qu`il fût conservé.
34. Araka izay nandidian' i Jehovah an' i Mosesy no nametrahan' i Arona izany teo anatrehan' ny Vavolombelona mba hotehirizina.
35. And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
35. "Les enfants d`Israël mangèrent la manne pendant quarante ans, jusqu`à leur arrivée dans un pays habité; ils mangèrent la manne jusqu`à leur arrivée aux frontières du pays de Canaan."
35. "Ary ny Zanak' Isiraely nihinana mana nandritra ny efapolo taona, mandra-pahatongany tany amin' ny tany nisy mponina; nihinana mana tokoa izy ireo, mandra-pahatongany tany amin' ny sisin' ny tany Kanana."
36. Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.
36. L`omer est la dixième partie de l`épha.
