Eliphaz
1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2. Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
2. "Un homme peut-il être utile à Dieu? Non; le sage n`est utile qu`à lui-même."
2. Mahasoa an' Andriamanitra va ny olona? Tsia, fa mahasoa ny tenany ihany ny olon-kendry.
3. Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
3. Si tu es juste, est-ce à l`avantage du Tout Puissant? Si tu es intègre dans tes voies, qu`y gagne-t-il?
3. Hahafinaritra ny Tsitoha va raha marina ianao? Sa misy tombony ho Azy raha ataonao tanteraka ny lalanao?
4. Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
4. Est-ce par crainte de toi qu`il te châtie, Qu`il entre en jugement avec toi?
4. Moa ny fahatahoranao Azy va no ananarany anao, sy ifanatrehany aminao amin' ny fitsarana?
5. Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
5. Ta méchanceté n`est-elle pas grande? Tes iniquités ne sont-elles pas infinies?
5. Tsy be va ny faharatsianao, sady tsy hita isa ny helokao?
6. For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
6. "Tu enlevais sans motif des gages à tes frères, Tu privais de leurs vêtements ceux qui étaient nus;"
6. Fa efa naka tsatòka tsy ahoan-tsy ahoana tamin' ny rahalahinao ianao ka nanendaka ny fitafian' ny mitanjaka.
7. Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
7. Tu ne donnais point d`eau à l`homme altéré, Tu refusais du pain à l`homme affamé.
7. Tsy nanome rano hosotroin' ny reraka ianao sady tsy nahafoy mofo ho an' ny noana.
8. But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.
8. Le pays était au plus fort, Et le puissant s`y établissait.
8. "Fa ny olona sandriana ihany no nanana ny tany; ary ny manankaja ihany no nitoetra teo."
9. Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
9. "Tu renvoyais les veuves à vide; Les bras des orphelins étaient brisés."
9. Efa nampialainao maina ny mpitondratena, ary tapahina ny sandrin' ny kamboty.
10. Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
10. C`est pour cela que tu es entouré de pièges, Et que la terreur t`a saisi tout à coup.
10. "Koa noho izany, dia misy fandrika manodidina anao, sy fahatahorana mampihorohoro anao tampoka;"
11. Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
11. Ne vois-tu donc pas ces ténèbres, Ces eaux débordées qui t`envahissent?
11. Na fahamaizinana izay tsy hitanao sy rano mandriaka mandifotra anao.
12. Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
12. Dieu n`est-il pas en haut dans les cieux? Regarde le sommet des étoiles, comme il est élevé!
12. Moa tsy any amin' ny haavon' ny lanitra va Andriamanitra? Ary jereo ny haavon' ny kintana, endrey ny haavony!
13. And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
13. Et tu dis: Qu`est-ce que Dieu sait? Peut-il juger à travers l`obscurité?
13. Ary hoy ianao: Ataon' Andriamanitra ahoana no fahafantatra? Mahay mitsara any ankoatry ny rahona mainty va Izy?
14. Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
14. "Les nuées l`enveloppent, et il ne voit rien; Il ne parcourt que la voûte des cieux."
14. Rahona matevina no manarona Azy, ka tsy mahita Izy, ary mandehandeha manodidina ny lanitra Izy.
15. Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
15. Eh quoi! tu voudrais prendre l`ancienne route Qu`ont suivie les hommes d`iniquité?
15. Moa nomarihinao ny lalana fahagola izay nalehan' ny olona ratsy fanahy?
16. Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
16. Ils ont été emportés avant le temps, Ils ont eu la durée d`un torrent qui s`écoule.
16. Izay nesorina alohan' ny androny, ka nindaosin' ny riaka ny fanorenany,
17. Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
17. "Ils disaient à Dieu: Retire-toi de nous; Que peut faire pour nous le Tout Puissant?"
17. "Dia ireo izay nanao tamin' Andriamanitra hoe: Mialà aminay; ary inona moa no azon' ny Tsitoha atao ho azy ireo?"
18. Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
18. Dieu cependant avait rempli de biens leurs maisons. -Loin de moi le conseil des méchants!
18. "Kanefa nameno zava-tsoa ny tranony Izy; fa lavitra ahy ny fisainan' ny ratsy fanahy!"
19. The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
19. Les justes, témoins de leur chute, se réjouiront, Et l`innocent se moquera d`eux:
19. "Ny marina mahita izany ka mifaly; ary ny tsy manan-tsiny mihomehy ireny ka maneso."
20. Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
20. Voilà nos adversaires anéantis! Voilà leurs richesses dévorées par le feu!
20. Satria tsy rava ny fananantsika, fa ny sisan' ireny dia levon' ny afo.
21. Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
21. "Attache-toi donc à Dieu, et tu auras la paix; Tu jouiras ainsi du bonheur."
21. "Koa mifankazara Aminy ianao, ary aoka hihavana aminy; fa izany no hahatongavan' ny soa aminao."
22. Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
22. Reçois de sa bouche l`instruction, Et mets dans ton coeur ses paroles.
22. Masìna ianao, mandraisa lalàna avy amin' ny vavany, ary alatsaho ao am-ponao ny teniny.
23. If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
23. Tu seras rétabli, si tu reviens au Tout Puissant, Si tu éloignes l`iniquité de ta tente.
23. Raha miverina amin' ny Tsitoha ianao, dia haorina tsara, hoesorinao lavitra ny lainao ny heloka.
24. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
24. "Jette l`or dans la poussière, L`or d`Ophir parmi les cailloux des torrents;"
24. Dia hihary volamena toy ny vovoka ianao, ary ny volamena avy any Ofira toy ny vato eny amin' ny sakeli-drano.
25. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
25. Et le Tout Puissant sera ton or, Ton argent, ta richesse.
25. Eny, ny Tsitoha no ho fiarovanao, dia hahazo volafotsy betsaka ianao.
26. For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
26. "Alors tu feras du Tout Puissant tes délices, Tu élèveras vers Dieu ta face;"
26. Fa amin' izany dia hiravoravo amin' ny Tsitoha ianao, ka hanandratra ny tavanao amin' Andriamanitra.
27. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
27. Tu le prieras, et il t`exaucera, Et tu accompliras tes voeux.
27. "Hivavaka aminy ianao, dia hihaino anao Izy; ary hanefa ny voadinao ianao."
28. Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
28. "A tes résolutions répondra le succès; Sur tes sentiers brillera la lumière."
28. Ary koa raha hikasa hanao zavatra ianao, dia hotanterahiny aminao izany, ary hamirapiratra eo amin' ny lalanao ny mazava.
29. When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
29. Vienne l`humiliation, tu prieras pour ton relèvement: Dieu secourt celui dont le regard est abattu.
29. "Raha misy mietry, dia hataonao hoe: Misy fisandratana; fa ny manetry tena hovonjeny."
30. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
30. Il délivrera même le coupable, Qui devra son salut à la pureté de tes mains.
30. "Hanafaka ny nosin' ny tsy manan-tsiny Izy; ary ny fahadiovan' ny tananao no hanafahana azy."
