Disaster Because of Idolatry
1. The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

2. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
2. "Ainsi parle l`Éternel des armées, le Dieu d`Israël: Vous avez vu tous les malheurs que j`ai fait venir sur Jérusalem et sur toutes les villes de Juda; voici, elles ne sont plus aujourd`hui que des ruines, et il n`y a plus d`habitants,"

3. Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
3. à cause de la méchanceté avec laquelle ils ont agi pour m`irriter, en allant encenser et servir d`autres dieux, inconnus à eux, à vous et à vos pères.

4. Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

5. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
5. Mais ils n`ont pas écouté, ils n`ont pas prêté l`oreille, ils ne sont pas revenus de leur méchanceté, et ils n`ont pas cessé d`offrir de l`encens à d`autres dieux.

6. Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.
6. Ma colère et ma fureur se sont répandues, et ont embrasé les villes de Juda et les rues de Jérusalem, qui ne sont plus que des ruines et un désert, comme on le voit aujourd`hui.

7. Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
7. Maintenant ainsi parle l`Éternel, le Dieu des armées, le Dieu d`Israël: Pourquoi vous faites-vous à vous-mêmes un si grand mal, que de faire exterminer du milieu de Juda hommes, femmes, enfants et nourrissons, en sorte qu`il n`y ait plus de vous aucun reste?
7. Koa ankehitriny, izao no lazain' i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny maro, dia Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Ahoana no anaovanareo izao ratsy lehibe singotry ny ainareo izao, haharingana ny lehilahy sy ny vehivavy, ny ankizy madinika sy ny zaza minono ao amin' ny Joda tsy haha-misy miangana anareo,
8. In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
8. Pourquoi m`irritez-vous par les oeuvres de vos mains, en offrant de l`encens aux autres dieux du pays d`Égypte, où vous êtes venus pour y demeurer, afin de vous faire exterminer et d`être un objet de malédiction et d`opprobre parmi toutes les nations de la terre?

9. Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
9. Avez-vous oublié les crimes de vos pères, les crimes des rois de Juda, les crimes de leurs femmes, vos crimes et les crimes de vos femmes, commis dans le pays de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem?

10. They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

11. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
12. "Je prendrai les restes de Juda qui ont tourné le visage pour aller au pays d`Égypte, afin d`y demeurer; ils seront tous consumés, ils tomberont dans le pays d`Égypte; ils seront consumés par l`épée, par la famine, depuis le plus petit jusqu`au plus grand; ils périront par l`épée et par la famine; et ils seront un sujet d`exécration, d`épouvante, de malédiction et d`opprobre."
12. "Ary halaiko ny sisa amin' ny Joda izay nampiatrika ny tavany ho any amin' ny tany Egypta hivahiny any, ka ho lany ritra izy rehetra; sady ho lavo any amin' ny tany Egypta; eny ho ringan' ny sabatra sy ny mosary izy; ho fatin' ny sabatra sy ny mosary izy hatramin' ny kely indrindra ka hatramin' ny lehibe indrindra; ary ho tonga fianianana sy ho figagàna sy fanozonana ary fandatsa izy."
13. For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:
13. Je châtierai ceux qui demeurent au pays d`Égypte, comme j`ai châtié Jérusalem, par l`épée, par la famine et par la peste.

14. So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.
14. "Nul n`échappera, ne fuira, parmi les restes de Juda qui sont venus pour demeurer au pays d`Égypte, avec l`intention de retourner dans le pays de Juda, où ils ont le désir de retourner s`établir; car ils n`y retourneront pas, sinon quelques réchappés."

15. Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
15. Tous les hommes qui savaient que leurs femmes offraient de l`encens à d`autres dieux, toutes les femmes qui se trouvaient là en grand nombre, et tout le peuple qui demeurait au pays d`Égypte, à Pathros, répondirent ainsi à Jérémie:

16. As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.
16. Nous ne t`obéirons en rien de ce que tu nous as dit au nom de l`Éternel.

17. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
17. Mais nous voulons agir comme l`a déclaré notre bouche, offrir de l`encens à la reine du ciel, et lui faire des libations, comme nous l`avons fait, nous et nos pères, nos rois et nos chefs, dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem. Alors nous avions du pain pour nous rassasier, nous étions heureux, et nous n`éprouvions point de malheur.
17. Fa hataonay tokoa ny teny rehetra izay naloaky ny vavanay, dia ny handoro ditin-kazo manitra ho an' ny mpanjakavavin' ny lanitra sy ny hanidina fanatitra aidina ho azy, toy ny efa nataonay sy ny razanay sy ny mpanjakanay ary ny mpanapaka anay tany amin' ny tanànan' ny Joda sy teny amin' ny lalamben' i Jerosalema, fa fahizany dia voky hanina izahay sady finaritra ary tsy nahita loza,
18. But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
18. Et depuis que nous avons cessé d`offrir de l`encens à la reine du ciel et de lui faire des libations, nous avons manqué de tout, et nous avons été consumés par l`épée et par la famine...

19. And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

20. Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,
20. Jérémie dit alors à tout le peuple, aux hommes, aux femmes, à tous ceux qui lui avaient fait cette réponse:

21. The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?
21. L`Éternel ne s`est-il pas rappelé, n`a-t-il pas eu à la pensée l`encens que vous avez brûlé dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, vous et vos pères, vos rois et vos chefs, et le peuple du pays?
21. Ny nandoroanareo ditin-kazo manitra tany an-tanànan' ny Joda sy tany an-dalamben' i Jerosalema, dia ianareo sy ny razanareo sy ny mpanjakanareo sy ny mpanapaka anareo mbamin' ny vahoaka tany, moa tsy notsarovan' i Jehovah va izany, ary tsy tao an-tsainy va?
22. So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
22. "L`Éternel n`a pas pu le supporter davantage, à cause de la méchanceté de vos actions, à cause des abominations que vous avez commises; et votre pays est devenu une ruine, un désert, un objet de malédiction, comme on le voit aujourd`hui."
22. "Ka dia tsy nahalefitra intsony Jehovah noho ny faharatsian' ny nataonareo sy noho ny fahavetavetana izay nataonareo; koa izany no nanaovana ny taninareo ho lao sy ho figagàna ary ho fanozonana, ka tsy misy mponina, tahaka ny amin' izao anio izao."
23. Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
23. C`est parce que vous avez brûlé de l`encens et péché contre l`Éternel, parce que vous n`avez pas écouté la voix de l`Éternel, et que vous n`avez pas observé sa loi, ses ordonnances, et ses préceptes, c`est pour cela que ces malheurs vous sont arrivés, comme on le voit aujourd`hui.
23. "Noho ny nandoroanareo ditin-kazo manitra sy ny nanotanareo tamin' i Jehovah, fa tsy nankatò ny feon' i Jehovah, na nandeha araka ny lalàny sy ny didiny ary ny teny vavolombelony; dia izany no nahatonga izao loza izao taminareo tahaka ny amin' izao anio izao."
24. Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:
24. Jérémie dit encore à tout le peuple et à toutes les femmes: Écoutez la parole de l`Éternel, vous tous de Juda, qui êtes au pays d`Égypte!
24. Ary hoy koa Jeremia tamin' ny olona rehetra sy tamin' ny vehivavy rehetra: Mihainoa ny tenin' iJehovah, ry Joda rehetra izay aty amin' ny tany Egypta:
25. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
25. Ainsi parle l`Éternel des armées, le Dieu d`Israël: Vous et vos femmes, vous avez déclaré de vos bouches et exécuté de vos mains ce que vous dites: Nous voulons accomplir les voeux que nous avons faits, offrir de l`encens à la reine du ciel, et lui faire des libations. Maintenant que vous avez accompli vos voeux, exécuté vos promesses,
25. "Izao no lazain' i Jehovah Tompon' ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, manao hoe: ianareo sy ny vadinareo samy niteny tamin' ny vavanareo sady nanatanteraka tamin' ny tananareo koa, nanao hoe: Hanefa tokoa izay efa nivoadianay izahay ka handoro ditin-kazo manitra ho an' ny mpanjakavavin' ny lanitra sy hanidina fanatitra aidina ho azy; eny, hefainareo tokoa ny voadinareo sady hataonareo tanteraka."
26. Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.
26. écoutez la parole de l`Éternel, vous tous de Juda, qui demeurez au pays d`Égypte! Voici, je le jure par mon grand nom, dit l`Éternel, mon nom ne sera plus invoqué par la bouche d`aucun homme de Juda, et dans tout le pays d`Égypte aucun ne dira: Le Seigneur, l`Éternel est vivant!
26. Koa henoinareo ny tenin' i Jehovah, ry Joda rehetra, izay monina aty amin' ny tany Egypta: Indro Aho efa nianiana tamin' ny anarako lehibe, hoy Jehovah, fa tsy hotononin' ny vavan' ny lehilahy amin' ny Joda eran' ny tany Egypta intsony ny anarako hanao hoe: Raha velona koa Jehovah Tompo.
27. Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
27. "Voici, je veillerai sur eux pour faire du mal et non du bien; et tous les hommes de Juda qui sont dans le pays d`Égypte seront consumés par l`épée et par la famine, jusqu`à ce qu`ils soient anéantis."
27. "Indro, miambina azy Aho, hahatonga loza, fa tsy soa; ary ny lehilahy rehetra amin' ny Joda, izay aty amin' ny tany Egypta, dia ho ringan' ny sabatra sy ny mosary mandra-pahalany ritrany."
28. Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.
28. Ceux, en petit nombre, qui échapperont à l`épée, retourneront du pays d`Égypte au pays de Juda. Mais tout le reste de Juda, tous ceux qui sont venus au pays d`Égypte pour y demeurer, sauront si ce sera ma parole ou la leur qui s`accomplira.
28. "Izay vitsy afa-mandositra ny sabatra no hiverina avy any amin' ny tany Egypta ho any amin' ny tanin' ny Joda; ary ny sisa amin' ny Joda rehetra, izay nankany amin' ny tany Egypta hivahiny any, dia hahafantatra izay ho tò teny na izaho na izy."
29. And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:
29. Et voici, dit l`Éternel, un signe auquel vous connaîtrez que je vous châtierai dans ce lieu, afin que vous sachiez que mes paroles s`accompliront sur vous pour votre malheur.
29. Ary izao no ho famantarana ho anareo, hoy Jehovah, fa hofaiziko eto amin' ity tany ity ianareo, mba hahafantaranareo fa ho tò tokoa ny teniko hahatonga loza aminareo.
30. Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
30. Ainsi parle l`Éternel: Voici, je livrerai Pharaon Hophra, roi d`Égypte, entre les mains de ses ennemis, entre les mains de ceux qui en veulent à sa vie, comme j`ai livré Sédécias, roi de Juda, entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, son ennemi, qui en voulait à sa vie.
30. Izao no lazain' i Jehovah: Indro, Farao-hofra, mpanjakan' i Egypta, hatolotro eo an-tanan' ny fahavalony sy eo an-tanan' izay mitady ny ainy, toy ny efa nanolorako an' i Zedekia, mpanjakan' ny Joda, ho eo an-tanan' i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan' i Babylona, izay fahavalony nitady ny ainy.
