Jeremiah's Complaint
1. Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
1. "Tu es trop juste, Éternel, pour que je conteste avec toi; Je veux néanmoins t`adresser la parole sur tes jugements: Pourquoi la voie des méchants est-elle prospère? Pourquoi tous les perfides vivent-ils en paix?"
1. Raha mifandahatra aminao aho, Jehovah ô, dia Ianao no marina, nefa kosa aoka aho hiteny aminao ny amin' ny fitsaranao: Nahoana àry no ambinina ny lalan' ny ratsy fanahy? nahoana no sambatra ny mpiodina rehetra?
2. Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.
2. "Tu les as plantés, ils ont pris racine, Ils croissent, ils portent du fruit; Tu es près de leur bouche, Mais loin de leur coeur."
2. Nambolenao izy, ka dia miorim-paka, mitombo izy, ka dia mamoa.Akaikin' ny vavany Ianao, fa lavitra ny voany.
3. But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
3. Et toi, Éternel, tu me connais, Tu me vois, tu sondes mon coeur qui est avec toi. Enlève-les comme des brebis qu`on doit égorger, Et prépare-les pour le jour du carnage!
3. "Fa Ianao Jehovah ô, mahalala ahy; mahita ahy Ianao sady mizaha toetra ny foko ny aminao; sariho toy ny ondry hovonoina ireny, ary amboary ho amin' ny andro hamonoana."
4. How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
4. Jusques à quand le pays sera-t-il dans le deuil, Et l`herbe de tous les champs sera-t-elle desséchée? A cause de la méchanceté des habitants, Les bêtes et les oiseaux périssent. Car ils disent: Il ne verra pas notre fin. -
4. Mandra-pahoviana no hisaonan' ny tany sy hahalazoan' ny ahitra any an-tsaha rehetra noho ny faharatsian' ny mponina ao? Lany ringana ny biby sy ny vorona, satria hoy ireo: Tsy mba hahita izay hiafarantsika izy.
God's Answer
5. If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
5. Si tu cours avec des piétons et qu`ils te fatiguent, Comment pourras-tu lutter avec des chevaux? Et si tu ne te crois en sûreté que dans une contrée paisible, Que feras-tu sur les rives orgueilleuses du Jourdain?
5. Raha niara-nihazakazaka tamin' ny mandeha tongotra ianao, ka rerany, dia hataonao ahoana no fihaika ny soavaly? Ary raha eny amin' ny tany miadana no anananao toky, dia hanao ahoana kosa ianao raha tondraka Jordana?
6. For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.
6. Car tes frères eux-mêmes et la maison de ton père te trahissent, Ils crient eux-mêmes à pleine voix derrière toi. Ne les crois pas, quand ils te diront des paroles amicales.
6. "Fa na dia ny rahalahinao sy ny ankohonan' ny rainao aza dia samy namitaka anao; eny, niantso mafy teo aorianao ireo; aza mino azy, na dia tsara fiteny aminao aza izy."
7. I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
7. J`ai abandonné ma maison, J`ai délaissé mon héritage, J`ai livré l`objet de mon amour aux mains de ses ennemis.
7. "Nilaozako ny tranoko, nafoiko ny lovako; ny sombin' aiko dia natolotro ho eo an-tanan' ny fahavalony."
8. Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.
8. "Mon héritage a été pour moi comme un lion dans la forêt, Il a poussé contre moi ses rugissements; C`est pourquoi je l`ai pris en haine."

9. Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.
9. "Mon héritage a été pour moi un oiseau de proie, une hyène; Aussi les oiseaux de proie viendront de tous côtés contre lui. Allez, rassemblez tous les animaux des champs, Faites-les venir pour qu`ils le dévorent!"
9. "Tahaka ny vorona misy pentimpentina madinika amiko ny lovako, ny vorona manodidina azy dia manohitra azy; avia ianareo, angony ny biby any an-tsaha rehetra, avia handany ireny."
10. Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
10. "Des bergers nombreux ravagent ma vigne, Ils foulent mon champ; Ils réduisent le champ de mes délices En un désert, en une solitude."
10. "Mpiandry maro no nanimba ny tanimboaloboko, nohitsakitsahiny ny an-jarako; nataony tany efitra lao ny anjarako mahafinaritra."
11. They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.
11. "Ils le réduisent en un désert; Il est en deuil, il est désolé devant moi. Tout le pays est ravagé, Car nul n`y prend garde."
11. "Nataony lao izany, eny, lao izy ka mitomany amiko; natao lao avokoa ny tany rehetra, satria tsy nisy nandatsaka am-po."
12. The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
12. "Sur tous les lieux élevés du désert arrivent les dévastateurs, Car le glaive de l`Éternel dévore le pays d`un bout à l`autre; Il n`y a de paix pour aucun homme."
12. "Ny mpandrava dia tonga any amin' ny toerana avo rehetra any an' efitra; fa ny sabatr' i Jehovah handringana amin' ny faran' ny tany ka hatramin' ny farany koa; ka tsy misy nofo hanam-piadanana."
13. They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
13. Ils ont semé du froment, et ils moissonnent des épines, Ils se sont fatigués sans profit. Ayez honte de ce que vous récoltez, Par suite de la colère ardente de l`Éternel.
13. "Varimbazaha no nafafiny, fa tsilo no hojinjany; nanasatra ny tenany izy, kanjo herim-po very foana; dia hangaihay ny amin' ny azonareo izy noho ny firehetan' ny fahatezeran' i Jehovah."
14. Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
14. Ainsi parle l`Éternel sur tous mes méchants voisins, Qui attaquent l`héritage que j`ai donné à mon peuple d`Israël: Voici, je les arracherai de leur pays, Et j`arracherai la maison de Juda du milieu d`eux.
14. Izao no lazain' i Jehovah ny amin' ireo ratsy fanahy rehetra mifanakaiky fonenana amiko ireo, dia izay mikasikasika ny tany nomeko ho lovan' ny Isiraely oloko: Indro, hongotako tsy ho amin' ny taniny ireo, ary ny taranak' i Joda koa dia hongotako tsy ho eo aminy.
15. And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
15. Mais après que je les aurai arrachés, J`aurai de nouveau compassion d`eux, Et je les ramènerai chacun dans son héritage, Chacun dans son pays.
15. Ary izao no hiseho, nony efa voaongotra izy, dia hiverina Aho ka hamindra fo aminy indray, sady hoentiko miverina amin' ny lovany, sy ny taniny avy indray izy.
16. And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.
16. Et s`ils apprennent les voies de mon peuple, S`ils jurent par mon nom, en disant: L`Éternel est vivant! Comme ils ont enseigné à mon peuple à jurer par Baal, Alors ils jouiront du bonheur au milieu de mon peuple.
16. Ary izao no hiseho, raha mba hianatra tokoa ny fanaon' ny oloko ireo, ka hianiana amin' ny anarako hoe: velona Jehovah, tahaka ny nampianaran' ireo ny oloko hianiana amin' i Bala, dia haorina eo afovoan' ny oloko izy.
17. But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
17. Mais s`ils n`écoutent rien, Je détruirai une telle nation, Je la détruirai, je la ferai périr, dit l`Éternel.
17. Fa raha tsy hankatò kosa izy, dia hongotako tanteraka, ka haringako izany firenena izany, hoy Jehovah.
