The Promised Glory of the New House
1. In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

2. Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
2. Parle à Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Josué, fils de Jotsadak, le souverain sacrificateur, et au reste du peuple, et dis-leur:
2. Lazao amin' i Zerobabela, zanak' i Sealtiela, governora any Joda, sy amin' i Josoa, zanak' i Jozadaka, mpisoronabe, ary amin' ny sisa amin' ny vahoaka hoe:
3. Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
3. Quel est parmi vous le survivant Qui ait vu cette maison dans sa gloire première? Et comment la voyez-vous maintenant? Telle qu`elle est, ne paraît-elle pas comme rien à vos yeux?
3. Iza no mbola sisa aminareo, izay nahita ity trano ity tamin' ny voninahiny taloha? Fa manao ahoana kosa ny fahitanareo azy izao? Moa tsy toy ny tsinontsinona eo imasonareo ity raha ampitahana?
4. Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:
4. Maintenant fortifie-toi, Zorobabel! dit l`Éternel. Fortifie-toi, Josué, fils de Jotsadak, souverain sacrificateur! Fortifie-toi, peuple entier du pays! dit l`Éternel. Et travaillez! Car je suis avec vous, Dit l`Éternel des armées.
4. "Nefa mahereza ankehitriny, ry Zerobabela, hoy Jehovah; ary mahereza, ry Josoa, zanak' i Jozadaka mpisoronabe; ary mahereza ianareo vahoaka rehetra amin' ny tany ka miasà; fa Izaho no momba anareo, hoy Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro."
5. According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
5. "Je reste fidèle à l`alliance que j`ai faite avec vous Quand vous sortîtes de l`Égypte, Et mon esprit est au milieu de vous; Ne craignez pas!"
5. Araka ny teny fanekena nataoko taminareo, fony nivoaka avy tany Egypta ianareo, no itoeran' ny fanahiko aminareo: aza matahotra ianareo.
6. For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
6. "Car ainsi parle l`Éternel des armées: Encore un peu de temps, Et j`ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, La mer et le sec;"
6. "Fa izao no lazain' i Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro: Indray maka koa, raha afaka kelikely, dia hampihorohoroiko ny lanitra sy ny tany ary ny ranomasina sy ny tany maina;"
7. And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
7. "J`ébranlerai toutes les nations; Les trésors de toutes les nations viendront, Et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, Dit l`Éternel des armées."
7. "Ary hampihorohoroiko ny firenena rehetra, ka ho avy izay irin' ny firenena; ary hofenoiko voninahitra ity trano ity, hoy Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro."
8. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
8. L`argent est à moi, et l`or est à moi, Dit l`Éternel des armées.
8. Ahy ny volafotsy, ary Ahy ny volamena, hoy Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro.
9. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
9. "La gloire de cette dernière maison sera plus grande Que celle de la première, Dit l`Éternel des armées; Et c`est dans ce lieu que je donnerai la paix, Dit l`Éternel des armées."
9. "Ny voninahitr' ity trano farany ity dia ho lehibe noho ny tamin' ny voalohany, hoy Jehovah Tompon' ny maro; ary eto amin' ity fitoerana ity no hanomezako fiadanana, hoy Jehovah Tompon' ny maro."
Blessings for a Defiled People
10. In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,
11. Ainsi parle l`Éternel des armées: Propose aux sacrificateurs cette question sur la loi:
11. Izao no lazain' i Jehovah Tompon' ny maro: anontanio ankehitriny ny mpisorona mikasika ny amin' ny lalàna hoe:
12. If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.
12. Si quelqu`un porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la chair consacrée, et qu`il touche avec son vêtement du pain, des mets, du vin, de l`huile, ou un aliment quelconque, ces choses seront-elles sanctifiées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Non!
12. Raha misy mitondra hena masina eny an-tsisin-dambany, ka voakasiky ny sisin-dambany ny mofo, na izay voahandro, na ny divay, na ny diloilo, na izay mety ho fihinana, moa ho tonga masina koa va ireo? Dia namaly ny mpisorona nanao hoe: Tsia.
13. Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.
13. Et Aggée dit: Si quelqu`un souillé par le contact d`un cadavre touche toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Elles seront souillées.
13. Ary hoy Hagay: raha misy maloto amim-paty mikasika ireo, moa ho tonga maloto koa va ireo? Dia namaly ny mpisorona nanao hoe: ho tonga maloto ireo.
14. Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
14. "Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit: Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, dit l`Éternel, Telles sont toutes les oeuvres de leurs mains; Ce qu`ils m`offrent là est souillé."
14. "Dia namaly Hagay nanao hoe: tahaka izany eo anatrehako ireto olona ireto, ary tahaka izany ity firenena ity, hoy Jehovah; ary tahaka izany koa ny asan' ny tanany rehetra; fa izay ateriny ao dia maloto."
15. And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
15. Considérez donc attentivement Ce qui s`est passé jusqu`à ce jour, Avant qu`on eût mis pierre sur pierre au temple de l`Éternel!
15. "Koa masìna ianareo, hevero ny hatramin' izao andro anio izao no ho mankary, dia fony tsy mbola nisy vato nifanongoa tao amin' ny tempolin' i Jehovah;"
16. Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
16. "Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, Il n`y en avait que dix; Quand on venait à la cuve pour puiser cinquante mesures, Il n`y en avait que vingt."
16. "Fony tamin' izany andro izany raha nisy nankamin' ny antontany roapolo famarana, dia folo ihany; raha nisy nankamin' ny vata fanantazana ranom-boaloboka hananty indimampolon' ny famarana, dia roapolo ihany."
17. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
17. "Je vous ai frappés par la rouille et par la nielle, et par la grêle; J`ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains. Malgré cela, vous n`êtes pas revenus à moi, dit l`Éternel."
17. "Ny main' ny rivotra sy maty fotsy sy ny havandra no namelezako anareo tamin' ny asan' ny tananareo rehetra; nefa tsy niverina tamiko ihany ianareo, hoy Jehovah."
18. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it.
18. Considérez attentivement Ce qui s`est passé jusqu`à ce jour, Jusqu`au vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, Depuis le jour où le temple de l`Éternel a été fondé, Considérez-le attentivement!
18. Koa hevero hatramin' izao andro anio izao no ho mankary, dia hatramin' ny andro fahefatra amby roapolo amin' ny volana fahasivy, eny hevero hatramin' ny andro nanorenana ny tempolin' i Jehovah,
19. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
19. Y avait-il encore de la semence dans les greniers? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l`olivier, N`ont rien rapporté. Mais dès ce jour je répandrai ma bénédiction.
19. "Mbola ao an-tsompitra ihany va ny voan-javatra? Eny, na dia ny voaloboka sy ny hazo aviavy sy ny ampongabendanitra sy ny oliva aza dia tsy mbola mamoa; hatramin' izao anio izao no hitahiako anareo."
Zerubbabel the LORD's Signet Ring
20. And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
20. La parole de l`Éternel fut adressée pour la seconde fois à Aggée, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en ces mots:
20. Ary tonga fanindroany tamin' i Hagay ny tenin' i Jehovah tamin' ny andro fahefatra amby roapolo nanao hoe:
21. Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
21. "Parle à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda, et dis: J`ébranlerai les cieux et la terre;"
21. Lazao amin' i Zerobabela, governora any Joda hoe: hampihorohoroiko ny lanitra sy ny tany,
22. And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
22. "Je renverserai le trône des royaumes, Je détruirai la force des royaumes des nations, Je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; Les chevaux et leurs cavaliers seront abattus, L`un par l`épée de l`autre."
22. "Dia hahohoko ny sezafiandrianan' ny fanjakana, ary hofoanako ny herin' ny fanjakan' ny jentilisa; ary hahohoko ny kalesy sy ny mitaingina eo aminy; ary samy ho lavon' ny sabatry ny rahalahiny avy ny soavaly sy ny mpitaingina azy."
23. In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
23. "En ce jour-là, dit l`Éternel des armées, Je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, Mon serviteur, dit l`Éternel, Et je te garderai comme un sceau; Car je t`ai choisi, dit l`Éternel des armées."
23. "Amin' izany andro izany, hoy Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro, dia horaisiko ianao, ry Zerobabela mpanompoko, zanak' i Sealtiela, hoy Jehovah, ka hataoko toy ny fanombohan-kase ianao; fa efa nifidy anao Aho, hoy Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro."
