Nehemiah Helps the Poor
1. And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
1. Il s`éleva de la part des gens du peuple et de leurs femmes de grandes plaintes contre leurs frères les Juifs.
1. Ary nisy fitarainana mafy teo amin' ny vahoaka mbamin' ny vadiny noho ny amin' ireo Jiosy rahalahiny.
2. For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
2. "Les uns disaient: Nous, nos fils et nos filles, nous sommes nombreux; qu`on nous donne du blé, afin que nous mangions et que nous vivions."
2. "Fa nisy nanao hoe: Maro izahay mbamin' ny zanakay lahy sy ny zanakay vavy; koa te-hahazo varimbazaha izahay mba hohaninay sy hivelomanay."
3. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
3. D`autres disaient: Nous engageons nos champs, nos vignes, et nos maisons, pour avoir du blé pendant la famine.
3. Ary nisy sasany koa nanao hoe: Ny taninay sy ny tanimboalobokay ary ny tranonay dia efa nataonay antoka mba ahazoanay mividy varimbazaha noho ny mosary.
4. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
4. D`autres disaient: Nous avons emprunté de l`argent sur nos champs et nos vignes pour le tribut du roi.
4. Ary nisy koa nanao hoe: Efa nisambo-bola izahay handoavanay ny hetran' ny mpanjaka, ary ny taninay sy ny tanimboalobokay no nataonay antoka.
5. Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
5. "Et pourtant notre chair est comme la chair de nos frères, nos enfants sont comme leurs enfants; et voici, nous soumettons à la servitude nos fils et nos filles, et plusieurs de nos filles y sont déjà réduites; nous sommes sans force, et nos champs et nos vignes sont à d`autres."
5. "Kanefa mba tahaka ny nofon' ny rahalahinay ihany ny nofonay, tahaka ny zanany ihany ny zanakay; ary indro, entinay ho amin' ny fanandevozana ny zanakay lahy sy ny zanakay vavy ho mpanompo, ary ny sasany amin' ny zanakay vavy dia efa andevo rahateo; tsy manan-ko enti-manavotra azy izahay, satria lasan' ny sasany ny taninay sy ny tanimboalobokay."
6. And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
6. Je fus très irrité lorsque j`entendis leurs plaintes et ces paroles-là.
6. Dia tezitra indrindra aho, raha nahare ny fitarainany sy izany teny izany.
7. Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
7. Je résolus de faire des réprimandes aux grands et aux magistrats, et je leur dis: Quoi! vous prêtez à intérêt à vos frères! Et je rassemblai autour d`eux une grande foule,
7. Ary nihevitra tao am-poko aho, ka dia nananatra mafy ny manankaja sy ny mpanapaka ka nanao taminy hoe: Samy mampanàna vola amin' ny rahalahinareo avy ianareo. Dia nanendry fiangonan-dehibe aho hitsarana azy.
8. And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
8. "et je leur dis: Nous avons racheté selon notre pouvoir nos frères les Juifs vendus aux nations; et vous vendriez vous-mêmes vos frères, et c`est à nous qu`ils seraient vendus! Ils se turent, ne trouvant rien à répondre."
8. "Ary hoy aho taminy: Izahay araka izay tratry ny anananay dia efa nanavotra ny Jiosy rahalahinay, izay efa namidy tamin' ny jentilisa; fa hivarotra ny rahalahinareo kosa va ianareo? na hamidy aminay va izy? Dia sina izy, ary tsy nahita izay havaly."
9. Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
9. Puis je dis: Ce que vous faites n`est pas bien. Ne devriez-vous pas marcher dans la crainte de notre Dieu, pour n`être pas insultés par les nations nos ennemies?
9. "Ary hoy koa aho: Tsy tsara izao ataonareo izao; moa tsy tokony handeha amin' ny fahatahorana an' Andriamanitsika va ianareo noho ny fanaratsian' ny jentilisa fahavalontsika?"
10. I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
10. Moi aussi, et mes frères et mes serviteurs, nous leur avons prêté de l`argent et du blé. Abandonnons ce qu`ils nous doivent!
10. "Toraka izany koa izaho sy ny rahalahiko ary ny mpanompoko, mba afaka mampanàna vola sy varimbazaha aminy; koa masìna ianareo, aoka re hafointsika izany fanjanaham-bola izany."
11. Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
11. Rendez-leur donc aujourd`hui leurs champs, leurs vignes, leurs oliviers et leurs maisons, et le centième de l`argent, du blé, du moût et de l`huile que vous avez exigé d`eux comme intérêt.
11. Masìna ianareo, ampodio aminy anio ihany ny taniny sy ny tanimboalobony sy ny tanin' olivany sy ny tranony sy ny ampahazaton' ny vola sy ny varimbazaha ary ny divay sy ny diloilo izay nangalanareo tombony taminy.
12. Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
12. Ils répondirent: Nous les rendrons, et nous ne leur demanderons rien, nous ferons ce que tu dis. Alors j`appelai les sacrificateurs, devant lesquels je les fis jurer de tenir parole.
12. "Dia hoy izy: Ampodinay izany, fa tsy haka na inona na inona aminy izahay, fa hataonay araka izay nolazainao. Dia niantso ny mpisorona aho ka nampianiana azy ireo hanao araka izany fampanantenana izany;"
13. Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
13. Et je secouai mon manteau, en disant: Que Dieu secoue de la même manière hors de sa maison et de ses biens tout homme qui n`aura point tenu parole, et qu`ainsi cet homme soit secoué et laissé à vide! Toute l`assemblée dit: Amen! On célébra l`Éternel. Et le peuple tint parole.
13. Sady nanakopaka ny lambako teo am-pofoako aho ka nanao hoe: Ho tahaka izany anie no hanakopahan' Andriamanitra ny olona rehetra izay tsy manatanteraka izany toky nomena izany hiala amin' ny tranony sy ny asany, eny, hakopaka ka hofoanana tahaka izany izy. ary ny fiangonana rehetra nanao hoe: Amena, sady nidera an' i Jehovah. Ary dia nanao araka izany toky nomena izany ny olona.
14. Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
14. Dès le jour où le roi m`établit leur gouverneur dans le pays de Juda, depuis la vingtième année jusqu`à la trente-deuxième année du roi Artaxerxès, pendant douze ans, ni moi ni mes frères n`avons vécu des revenus du gouverneur.
14. Ary koa, hatramin' ny fotoana nanendrena ahy ho governora amin' ny tanin' ny Joda, dia hatramin' ny taona faharoapolo ka hatramin' ny taona faharoa amby telopolo nanjakan' i Artaksersesy, dia roa ambin' ny folo taona izay, izaho sy ny rahalahiko tsy mba nihinana ny anjara fiveloman' ny governora.
15. But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
15. "Avant moi, les premiers gouverneurs accablaient le peuple, et recevaient de lui du pain et du vin, outre quarante sicles d`argent; leurs serviteurs mêmes opprimaient le peuple. Je n`ai point agi de la sorte, par crainte de Dieu."
15. "Fa ny governora fahiny izay teo alohako dia nahavaky tratra ny olona ka nampandoa azy mofo sy divay ary sekely volafotsy efapolo koa; eny, na dia ny mpanompony aza dia nanjakazaka tamin' ny olona, fa izaho kosa tsy mba nanao izany noho ny tahotro an' Andriamanitra."
16. Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.
16. Bien plus, j`ai travaillé à la réparation de cette muraille, et nous n`avons acheté aucun champ, et mes serviteurs tous ensemble étaient à l`ouvrage.
16. "Eny, nanohy ny asa fanaovana io manda io aho, ary tsy nividy tany izahay; ary ny mpanompoko rehetra dia voangona teto hanao ny asa."
17. Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.
17. J`avais à ma table cent cinquante hommes, Juifs et magistrats, outre ceux qui venaient à nous des nations d`alentour.
17. Ary teo amin' ny latabatro koa nisy Jiosy sy mpanapaka dimampolo amby zato afa-tsy izay nankeo aminay avy amin' ny jentilisa manodidina anay.
18. Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
18. "On m`apprêtait chaque jour un boeuf, six moutons choisis, et des oiseaux; et tous les dix jours on préparait en abondance tout le vin nécessaire. Malgré cela, je n`ai point réclamé les revenus du gouverneur, parce que les travaux étaient à la charge de ce peuple."
18. "Ary ny namboarina ho ahy isan' andro dia omby iray sy ondry voafantina enina ary vorona koa, ary indray mandeha isan-kafoloana dia nasiana divay samy hafa betsaka; nefa na dia izany aza, ny anjara fiveloman' ny governora dia tsy mba notakiako, satria nahavesatra ny olona ny fanompoana."
19. Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
19. Souviens-toi favorablement de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de tout ce que j`ai fait pour ce peuple!
19. Tsarovy aho ka hasoavy, ry Andriamanitro ô, araka izay rehetra nataoko ho an' ity firenena ity.
