A Time for Everything
1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

6. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

9. What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
9. Quel avantage celui qui travaille retire-t-il de sa peine?

10. I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
10. J`ai vu à quelle occupation Dieu soumet les fils de l`homme.
10. Efa hitako ny asa mahareraka izay nomen' Andriamanitra ny zanak' olombelona hisasarany.
11. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
11. "Il fait toute chose bonne en son temps; même il a mis dans leur coeur la pensée de l`éternité, bien que l`homme ne puisse pas saisir l`oeuvre que Dieu fait, du commencement jusqu`à la fin."
11. Ny zavatra rehetra samy nataony ho mendrika amin' ny fotoany avy: ary koa ny mandrakizay dia efa napetrany tao am-pon' ireo mba tsy hisy olombelona hahafantatra ny asa ataon' Andriamanitra hatramin' ny fiandohana ka hatramin' ny fiafarana.
12. I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
12. "J`ai reconnu qu`il n`y a de bonheur pour eux qu`à se réjouir et à se donner du bien-être pendant leur vie;"
12. Fantatro fa tsy misy tsara amin' ny olombelona afa-tsy ny mifaly sy ny manao ny tsara amin' ny fiainany.
13. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
13. mais que, si un homme mange et boit et jouit du bien-être au milieu de tout son travail, c`est là un don de Dieu.
13. Ary koa, raha mihinana sy misotro ary mifaly amin' ny vokatsoan' ny fisasarany rehetra ny olombelona, dia fanomezan' Andriamanitra izany.
14. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
14. J`ai reconnu que tout ce que Dieu fait durera toujours, qu`il n`y a rien à y ajouter et rien à en retrancher, et que Dieu agit ainsi afin qu`on le craigne.
14. "Fantatro fa izay rehetra ataon' Andriamanitra dia haharitra mandrakizay; tsy azo ampiana ary tsy azo analana izany; ka dia ataon' Andriamanitra matahotra eo imasony ny olona."
15. That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
15. Ce qui est a déjà été, et ce qui sera a déjà été, et Dieu ramène ce qui est passé.
15. "Izay efa nisy no misy ankehitriny; ary izay mbola hisy dia efa nisy; ary mbola takian' Andriamanitra indray izay efa lasa."
16. And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
16. J`ai encore vu sous le soleil qu`au lieu établi pour juger il y a de la méchanceté, et qu`au lieu établi pour la justice il y a de la méchanceté.
16. "Ary izao koa no efa hitako aty ambany masoandro: ny fitoeran' ny fitsarana, dia nisy faharatsiana tao; ary ny fitoeran' ny fahamarinana, dia nisy heloka tao."
17. I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
17. "J`ai dit en mon coeur: Dieu jugera le juste et le méchant; car il y a là un temps pour toute chose et pour toute oeuvre."
17. Hoy aho anakampo: Samy hotsarain' Andriamanitra ny marina sy ny meloka, fa misy fotoana ho an' ny raharaha rehetra sy ny asa rehetra.
18. I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
18. J`ai dit en mon coeur, au sujet des fils de l`homme, que Dieu les éprouverait, et qu`eux-mêmes verraient qu`ils ne sont que des bêtes.
18. Hoy aho anakampo: noho ny amin' ny zanak' olombelona izany, mba hizahan' Andriamanitra toetra azy, ka ho hitany fa raha ny tenany ihany, dia biby izy.
19. For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
19. "Car le sort des fils de l`homme et celui de la bête sont pour eux un même sort; comme meurt l`un, ainsi meurt l`autre, ils ont tous un même souffle, et la supériorité de l`homme sur la bête est nulle; car tout est vanité."
19. "Fa izay manjo ny zanak' olombelona dia manjo ny biby; zavatra iray no mitranga amin' izy ireo: fa tahaka ny ahafatesan' ny iray no ahafatesan' ny iray koa; eny, iray ihany ny fofonain' izy rehetra; koa tsy misy ihoaran' ny olona amin' ny biby; fa zava-poana ny zava-drehetra."
20. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
20. "Tout va dans un même lieu; tout a été fait de la poussière, et tout retourne à la poussière."
20. "Samy mankany amin' ny toerana iray izy rehetra; avy tamin' ny vovoka izy rehetra, ary hiverina ho amin' ny vovoka indray izy rehetra."
21. Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
21. Qui sait si le souffle des fils de l`homme monte en haut, et si le souffle de la bête descend en bas dans la terre?
21. Iza no mahalala ny fofonain' olombelona, moa ve izy miakatra any ambony? ary ny fofonain' ny biby, moa ve izy midina amin' ny tany?
22. Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
22. Et j`ai vu qu`il n`y a rien de mieux pour l`homme que de se réjouir de ses oeuvres: c`est là sa part. Car qui le fera jouir de ce qui sera après lui?
22. "Dia hitako fa tsy misy tsara noho ny ifalian' ny olona amin' ny asany, satria izany no anjarany; fa iza no hampahalala azy izay ho avy any aoriany?"
