John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1. The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

2. As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

3. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
3. C`est la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, Aplanissez ses sentiers.

4. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
4. Jean parut, baptisant dans le désert, et prêchant le baptême de repentance, pour la rémission des péchés.
4. Jaona dia nanao batisa tany an' efitra ka nitory ny batisan' ny fibebahana ho famelan-keloka.
5. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
5. "Tout le pays de Judée et tous les habitants de Jérusalem se rendaient auprès de lui; et, confessant leurs péchés, ils se faisaient baptiser par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain."

6. And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
6. Jean avait un vêtement de poils de chameau, et une ceinture de cuir autour des reins. Il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.
6. "Ary Jaona nitafy lamba volon-drameva, ary fehikibo hoditra no tamin' ny valahany; ary ny fihinany dia valala sy tantely remby."
7. And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
7. Il prêchait, disant: Il vient après moi celui qui est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de délier, en me baissant, la courroie de ses souliers.

8. I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
8. "Moi, je vous ai baptisés d`eau; lui, il vous baptisera du Saint Esprit."

The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus
9. And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
9. En ce temps-là, Jésus vint de Nazareth en Galilée, et il fut baptisé par Jean dans le Jourdain.

10. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

11. And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
11. Et une voix fit entendre des cieux ces paroles: Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé, en toi j`ai mis toute mon affection.

12. And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
12. Aussitôt, l`Esprit poussa Jésus dans le désert,

13. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
13. où il passa quarante jours, tenté par Satan. Il était avec les bêtes sauvages, et les anges le servaient.

The Calling of the First Disciples
14. Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

15. And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

16. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
16. "Comme il passait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit Simon et André, frère de Simon, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs."
16. "Ary nony nandalo teny amoron’ny ranomasin' i Galilia Izy, dia nahita an' i Simona sy Andrea, rahalahin' i Simona, nandatsaka harato tao amin' ny ranomasina; fa mpanarato izy ireo."
17. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
17. Jésus leur dit: Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d`hommes.
17. Ary hoy Jesosy taminy: Andeha hanaraka Ahy, fa hataoko tonga mpanarato olona ianareo.
18. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
18. Aussitôt, ils laissèrent leurs filets, et le suivirent.

19. And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
19. Étant allé un peu plus loin, il vit Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui, eux aussi, étaient dans une barque et réparaient les filets.

20. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

Jesus Drives Out an Evil Spirit
21. And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
21. Ils se rendirent à Capernaüm. Et, le jour du sabbat, Jésus entra d`abord dans la synagogue, et il enseigna.
21. "Ary nankany Kapernaomy izy ireo; ary nony tamin’ny andro sabata, dia niditra tao amin’ny synagoga niaraka tamin’izay Jesosy ka nampianatra."
22. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
22. "Ils étaient frappés de sa doctrine; car il enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non pas comme les scribes."
22. Dia talanjona ny olona tamin’ny foto-pampianarany, satria nampianatra azy tahaka izay manana fahefana Izy, fa tsy mba tahaka ny mpanoradalàna.
23. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
23. Il se trouva dans leur synagogue un homme qui avait un esprit impur, et qui s`écria:
23. "Ary niaraka tamin' izay dia nisy olona teo amin’ny synagogany izay azon’ny fanahy maloto; ary niantso mafy ralehilahy,"
24. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
24. Qu`y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Tu es venu pour nous perdre. Je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu.
24. "Ka nanao hoe: Avelao izahay; moa mifaninona akory izahay sy Ianao, ry Jesosy avy any Nazareta? Avy handringana anay va Ianao? Fantatro fa Ilay Masin' Andriamanitra Ianao."
25. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
25. Jésus le menaça, disant: Tais-toi, et sors de cet homme.
25. Ary Jesosy niteny mafy azy ka nanao hoe: Mangìna ianao ka mivoaha aminy.
26. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
26. Et l`esprit impur sortit de cet homme, en l`agitant avec violence, et en poussant un grand cri.
26. Ary ny fanahy maloto rehefa nampifanintontsintona azy, dia niantso tamin’ny feo mahery ka niala taminy.
27. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
27. Tous furent saisis de stupéfaction, de sorte qu`il se demandaient les uns aux autres: Qu`est-ce que ceci? Une nouvelle doctrine! Il commande avec autorité même aux esprits impurs, et ils lui obéissent!
27. Dia gaga ny olona rehetra ka nifanontany hoe: Manao ahoana re izao zavatra izao? Inona re izao foto-pampianarana vaovao izao? fa amin’ny fahefana no andidiany ny fanahy maloto ka dia manaiky azy ireny!
28. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
28. Et sa renommée se répandit aussitôt dans tous les lieux environnants de la Galilée.
28. Ary ny lazany dia niely niaraka tamin' izay teny tontolo eny tamin’ny tany rehetra eran' i Galilia.
Jesus Heals Many
29. And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
29. En sortant de la synagogue, ils se rendirent avec Jacques et Jean à la maison de Simon et d`André.
29. Ary niaraka tamin' izay, raha nivoaka avy tao amin' ny synagoga izy ireo, dia niditra tao an-tranon' i Simona sy Andrea niaraka tamin' i Jakoba sy Jaona.
30. But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
30. "La belle-mère de Simon était couchée, ayant la fièvre; et aussitôt on parla d`elle à Jésus."
30. "Ary ny rafozam-bavin' i Simona nandry nanavin’ny tazo; ary niaraka tamin’izay dia nilaza azy taminy izy ireo."
31. And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
31. S`étant approché, il la fit lever en lui prenant la main, et à l`instant la fièvre la quitta. Puis elle les servit.
31. "Dia nanatona Izy ka nandray ny tanany sy nanarina azy; dia afaka niaraka tamin' izay ny tazo, ka dia nanompo azy izy."
32. And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
32. Le soir, après le coucher du soleil, on lui amena tous les malades et les démoniaques.
32. Ary nony hariva ny andro, ka nilentika ny masoandro, dia nentina tany aminy ny marary rehetra sy izay azon’ny devoly.
33. And all the city was gathered together at the door.
33. Et toute la ville était rassemblée devant sa porte.
33. Ary ny tao an-tanàna rehetra dia tafangona teo anoloan’ny varavarana avokoa.
34. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
34. "Il guérit beaucoup de gens qui avaient diverses maladies; il chassa aussi beaucoup de démons, et il ne permettait pas aux démons de parler, parce qu`ils le connaissaient."
34. "Ary nahasitrana olona maro izay nararin' ny aretina samihafa Izy sady namoaka devoly maro; ary tsy navelany hiteny ny devoly, satria nahafantatra Azy ireny."
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
35. Vers le matin, pendant qu`il faisait encore très sombre, il se leva, et sortit pour aller dans un lieu désert, où il pria.
35. Ary nony ampitso maraina dia nifoha mbola alim-be Izy, ka nivoaka nankany an-tany foana ary nivavaka tany.
36. And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
36. "Simon et ceux qui étaient avec lui se mirent à sa recherche;"
36. Ary nitady Azy Simona sy ireo izay niaraka taminy.
37. And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
37. et, quand ils l`eurent trouvé, ils lui dirent: Tous te cherchent.
37. Ary rehefa nahita Azy izy ireo, dia nanao taminy hoe: Ny olona rehetra mitady Anao.
38. And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
38. "Il leur répondit: Allons ailleurs, dans les bourgades voisines, afin que j`y prêche aussi; car c`est pour cela que je suis sorti."
38. "Fa hoy kosa Izy taminy: Andeha isika hiala hankany amin’ny tanàna akaiky, mba hitoriako teny any koa; fa izany no nahatongavako."
39. And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
39. Et il alla prêcher dans les synagogues, par toute la Galilée, et il chassa les démons.
39. Dia nitoriteny tao amin’ny synagogan’ny olona eran’i Galilia Izy sady namoaka ny devoly.
A Man With Leprosy
40. And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
40. "Un lépreux vint à lui; et, se jetant à genoux, il lui dit d`un ton suppliant: Si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur."
40. Ary nisy boka nanatona Azy ka nitaraina taminy sady nandohalika teo anatrehany ka nanao taminy hoe: Raha mety Ianao, dia mahay manadio ahy.
41. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
41. Jésus, ému de compassion, étendit la main, le toucha, et dit: Je le veux, sois pur.
41. "Ary Jesosy dia onena azy ka naninjitra ny tanany, dia nanendry azy ka nanao taminy hoe: Mety Aho; madiova ianao."
42. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
42. Aussitôt la lèpre le quitta, et il fut purifié.
42. Ary niaraka tamin’izay, raha niteny Izy, dia niala taminy ny habokana, ka dia nadio izy.
43. And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
43. Jésus le renvoya sur-le-champ, avec de sévères recommandations,
43. Ary namepetra azy mafy Jesosy, dia nampandeha azy niaraka tamin’izay,
44. And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
44. "et lui dit: Garde-toi de rien dire à personne; mais va te montrer au sacrificateur, et offre pour ta purification ce que Moïse a prescrit, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage."
44. "Ka nanao taminy hoe: Tandremo mba tsy hilaza na inona na inona amin’olona ianao; fa mandehana, misehoa amin’ny mpisorona, ka manatera ny fanadiovana anao, izay nandidian’i Mosesy, ho vavolombelona amin’ireo."
45. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
45. Mais cet homme, s`en étant allé, se mit à publier hautement la chose et à la divulguer, de sorte que Jésus ne pouvait plus entrer publiquement dans une ville. Il se tenait dehors, dans des lieux déserts, et l`on venait à lui de toutes parts.
45. "Nefa lasa ralehilahy, ka nanomboka nampiely izany tokoa, sady nilaza izany tamin-kafanampo, ka dia tsy nahazo niditra miharihary tao an-tanàna intsony Jesosy; fa nitoetra tany ivelany, tany an-tany foana Izy, dia nanatona Azy ny olona avy eny tontolo eny."
