A Message About Egypt
1. The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;

2. Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.
2. Sur l`Égypte. Sur l`armée de Pharaon Neco, roi d`Égypte, qui était près du fleuve de l`Euphrate, à Carkemisch, et qui fut battue par Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, la quatrième année de Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda.

3. Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

6. Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
6. Que le plus léger ne trouve aucun salut dans la fuite, Que le plus vaillant n`échappe pas! Au septentrion, sur les rives de l`Euphrate, Ils chancellent, ils tombent.

7. Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
7. Qui est celui qui s`avance comme le Nil, Et dont les eaux sont agitées comme les torrents?

8. Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
8. C`est l`Égypte. Elle s`avance comme le Nil, Et ses eaux sont agitées comme les torrents. Elle dit: Je monterai, je couvrirai la terre, Je détruirai les villes et leurs habitants.

9. Montez, chevaux! précipitez-vous, chars! Qu`ils se montrent, les vaillants hommes, Ceux d`Éthiopie et de Puth qui portent le bouclier, Et ceux de Lud qui manient et tendent l`arc!

10. For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
10. "Ce jour est au Seigneur, à l`Éternel des armées; C`est un jour de vengeance, où il se venge de ses ennemis. L`épée dévore, elle se rassasie, Elle s`enivre de leur sang. Car il y a des victimes du Seigneur, de l`Éternel des armées, Au pays du septentrion, sur les rives de l`Euphrate."

11. Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.
11. Monte en Galaad, prends du baume, Vierge, fille de l`Égypte! En vain tu multiplies les remèdes, Il n`y a point de guérison pour toi.

12. The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
12. Les nations apprennent ta honte, Et tes cris remplissent la terre, Car les guerriers chancellent l`un sur l`autre, Ils tombent tous ensemble.

13. The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.
13. La parole qui fut adressée par l`Éternel à Jérémie, le prophète, sur l`arrivée de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, qui voulait frapper le pays d`Égypte.
13. Ny teny izay nolazain' i Jehovah tamin' i Jeremia mpaminany ny amin' ny hiavian' i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan' i Babylona, hamely ny tany Egypta.
14. Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword shall devour round about thee.
14. Annoncez-le en Égypte, Publiez-le à Migdol, Publiez-le à Noph et à Tachpanès! Dites: Lève-toi, prépare-toi, Car l`épée dévore autour de toi!

15. Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

16. He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.

17. They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.
17. "Là, on s`écrie: Pharaon, roi d`Égypte, Ce n`est qu`un bruit; il a laissé passer le moment."

18. As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
18. Je suis vivant! dit le roi, Dont l`Éternel des armées est le nom, Comme le Thabor parmi les montagnes, Comme le Carmel qui s`avance dans la mer, il viendra.

19. O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.
19. Fais ton bagage pour la captivité, Habitante, fille de L`Égypte! Car Noph deviendra un désert, Elle sera ravagée, elle n`aura plus d`habitants.

22. The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.
22. "Sa voix se fait entendre comme celle du serpent; Car ils s`avancent avec une armée, Ils marchent contre elle avec des haches, Pareils à des bûcherons."

23. They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.
23. "Ils abattent sa forêt, dit l`Éternel, Bien qu`elle soit impénétrable; Car ils sont plus nombreux que les sauterelles, On ne pourrait les compter."

24. The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.
24. La fille de l`Égypte est confuse, Elle est livrée entre les mains du peuple du septentrion.

25. The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:
25. L`Éternel des armées, le Dieu d`Israël, dit: Voici, je vais châtier Amon de No, Pharaon, l`Égypte, ses dieux et ses rois, Pharaon et ceux qui se confient en lui.
25. "Hoy Jehovah Tompon' ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Indro, hofaiziko ny maroben' i No ary Farao sy Egypta, mbamin' ny andriamaniny sy ny mpanjakany, dia Farao sy izay rehetra matoky azy ;"
26. And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.
26. "Je les livrerai entre les mains de ceux qui en veulent à leur vie, Entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, Et entre les mains de ses serviteurs; Et après cela, l`Égypte sera habitée comme aux jours d`autrefois, Dit l`Éternel."
26. "Ary hatolotro eo an-tanan' izay mitady ny ainy izy, dia eo an-tanan' i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan' i Babylona, sy eo an-tanan' ny mpanompony; ary aorian' izany, dia honenana toy ny tamin' ny andro fahiny izy, hoy Jehovah."
27. But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
27. "Et toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas; Ne t`effraie pas, Israël! Car je te délivrerai de la terre lointaine, Je délivrerai ta postérité du pays où elle est captive; Jacob reviendra, il jouira du repos et de la tranquillité, Et il n`y aura personne pour le troubler."
27. "Fa aza matahotra ianao ry Jakoba mpanompoko ô, ary aza mivadi-po ry Israely ô, fa indro hovonjeko avy any amin' ny lavitra ianao, ary ny taranakao avy any amin' ny tanin' ny fahababoany; dia hiverina Jakoba ka hiadana, eny handry fahizay, ka tsy hisy hampahatahotra azy."
28. Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
28. "Toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas! dit l`Éternel; Car je suis avec toi. J`anéantirai toutes les nations parmi lesquelles je t`ai dispersé, Mais toi, je ne t`anéantirai pas; Je te châtierai avec équité, Je ne puis pas te laisser impuni."
28. Aza matahotra ianao, ry Jakoba mpanompoko ô! hoy Jehovah, fa momba anao Aho, fa na dia holevoniko aza ny firenena rehetra izay nandroahako anao, Ianao tsy mba holevoniko, nefa kosa hofaiziko araka ny antonony ianao fa tsy avelako tsy hofaizina ianao.
