Samuel Anoints Saul
1. Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.
1. Il y avait un homme de Benjamin, nommé Kis, fils d`Abiel, fils de Tseror, fils de Becorath, fils d`Aphiach, fils d`un Benjamite. C`était un homme fort et vaillant.
1. Ary nisy lehilahy avy amin' ny Benjamina atao hoe Kisy, zanak' i Abiela, zanak' i Zerora, zanak' i Bekorata, zanak' i Afia, Benjamita izy sady lehilahy malaza amin' ny hery.
2. And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.
2. Il avait un fils du nom de Saül, jeune et beau, plus beau qu`aucun des enfants d`Israël, et les dépassant tous de la tête.
2. Ary nanan-janakalahy atao hoe Saoly izy, izay mbola tanora sady tsara tarehy, ka tsy nisy tsara tarehy noho izy teo amin' ny Zanak' Isiraely rehetra, ary nanantombo noho ny olona rehetra hatramin' ny sorony no ho miakatra ny halavany.
3. And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.
3. "Les ânesses de Kis, père de Saül, s`égarèrent; et Kis dit à Saül, son fils: Prends avec toi l`un des serviteurs, lève-toi, va, et cherche les ânesses."
3. Ary very ny borikivavin' i Kisy, rain' i Saoly. Dia hoy Kisy tamin' i Saoly zanany: Mitondrà zatovo anankiray hanaraka anao, dia miaingà ka mandehana hitady ny boriky.
4. And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.
4. "Il passa par la montagne d`Éphraïm et traversa le pays de Schalischa, sans les trouver; ils passèrent par le pays de Schaalim, et elles n`y étaient pas; ils parcoururent le pays de Benjamin, et ils ne les trouvèrent pas."
4. "Dia nandeha namaky ny tendrombohitr' i Efraima izy ka namaky ny tany Salisa, fa tsy nahita azy; dia nandeha nandalo ny tany Salima izy ireo, fa tsy tany ireny; dia nandeha namaky ny tanin' ny Benjamita izy, fa tsy nahita azy ireo."
5. And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.
5. Ils étaient arrivés dans le pays de Tsuph, lorsque Saül dit à son serviteur qui l`accompagnait: Viens, retournons, de peur que mon père, oubliant les ânesses, ne soit en peine de nous.
5. Ary nony tonga teo amin' ny tany Zofa izy, dia hoy Saoly tamin' ny mpanompony nanaraka azy: Andeha isika hiverina fandrao isika indray no ahin' Ikaky fa tsy ny boriky intsony.
6. And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.
6. "Le serviteur lui dit: Voici, il y a dans cette ville un homme de Dieu, et c`est un homme considéré; tout ce qu`il dit ne manque pas d`arriver. Allons y donc; peut-être nous fera-t-il connaître le chemin que nous devons prendre."
6. "Fa hoy ny mpanompony taminy: Indro, misy lehilahin' Andriamanitra amin' ity tanàna ity, ary lehilahy malaza izy, izay rehetra lazainy dia tanteraka tokoa; koa andeha isika hankany, fa angamba hatorony antsika izay lalana tokony halehantsika."
7. Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
7. Saül dit à son serviteur: Mais si nous y allons, que porterons-nous à l`homme de Dieu? Car il n`y a plus de provisions dans nos sacs, et nous n`avons aucun présent à offrir à l`homme de Dieu. Qu`est-ce que nous avons?
7. "Dia hoy Saoly tamin' ny mpanompony: indro, raha mankany isika, inona moa no hoentintsika ho an-dralehilahy? fa efa lany ny mofo rehetra tao amin' ny fitondrantsika ary tsy misy fanomezana haterina ho an' ny lehilahin' Andriamanitra; inona moa no aty amintsika?"
8. And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.
8. "Le serviteur reprit la parole, et dit à Saül: Voici, j`ai sur moi le quart d`un sicle d`argent; je le donnerai à l`homme de Dieu, et il nous indiquera notre chemin."
8. Dia namaly an' i Saoly indray ilay mpanompo ka nanao hoe: Indro, aty an-tanako misy ampahefatry ny sekely volafotsy, koa homeko ny lehilahin' Andriamanitra izany, mba hanoroany antsika ny lalantsika.
9. (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)
9. Autrefois en Israël, quand on allait consulter Dieu, on disait: Venez, et allons au voyant! Car celui qu`on appelle aujourd`hui le prophète s`appelait autrefois le voyant. -
9. "(Fahiny teo amin' ny Isiraely, raha nisy olona nandeha hanontany amin' Andriamanitra, dia izao no lazainy: Andeha, aoka hankany amin' ny mpahita isika; fa izay atao hoe: Mpaminany ankehitriny no natao hoe: Mpahita tany aloha)."
10. Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.
10. Saül dit à son serviteur: Tu as raison: viens, allons! Et ils se rendirent à la ville où était l`homme de Dieu.
10. Dia hoy Saoly tamin' ny mpanompony: Tsara izany, fa andeha isika hankany. Dia lasa izy ireo nankany amin' ny tanàna nitoeran' ilay lehilahin' Andriamanitra.
11. And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?
11. Comme ils montaient à la ville, ils rencontrèrent des jeunes filles sorties pour puiser de l`eau, et ils leur dirent: Le voyant est-il ici?
11. Ary raha mbola niakatra teo am-piakarana ho any an-tanàna izy ireo, dia nahita zazavavy maromaro mivoaka hantsaka, ka hoy izy taminy: Ao ihany va ny mpahita?
12. And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:
12. "Elles leur répondirent en disant: Oui, il est devant toi; mais va promptement, car aujourd`hui il est venu à la ville parce qu`il y a un sacrifice pour le peuple sur le haut lieu."
12. "Dia namaly azy ireo ka nanao hoe: ao ihany izy; indro, ao aloha ao izy, mandehana faingana, fa efa tonga ao an-tanàna izy izao, satria misy fanatitra hataon' ny vahoaka ao amin' ny fitoerana avo anio;"
13. As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.
13. "Quand vous serez entrés dans la ville, vous le trouverez avant qu`il monte au haut lieu pour manger; car le peuple ne mangera point qu`il ne soit arrivé, parce qu`il doit bénir le sacrifice; après quoi, les conviés mangeront. Montez donc, car maintenant vous le trouverez."
13. "Ary raha vao miditra ao an-tanàna ianareo, dia ho hitanareo izy, raha tsy mbola miakatra hihinana ao amin' ny fitoerana avo, fa tsy hihinana ny vahoaka mandra-pahatongany, fa izy no manao fisaorana amin' ny fanatitra, ary rehefa afaka izany, dia vao mihinana izay nasaina; koa miakara ianareo ankehitriny, fa amin' izao no hahitanareo azy."
14. And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.
14. Et ils montèrent à la ville. Ils étaient arrivés au milieu de la ville, quand ils furent rencontrés par Samuel qui sortait pour monter au haut lieu.
14. "Dia niakatra tao an-tanàna izy roa lahy; ary nony tonga tao izy, dia, indro, Samoela nivoaka niakatra ho any amin' ny fitoerana avo ka nifanena taminy."
15. Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
15. Or, un jour avant l`arrivée de Saül, l`Éternel avait averti Samuel, en disant:
15. Ary Jehovah efa nanambara tamin' i Samoela omalin' ny andro nahatongavan' i Saoly ka nanao hoe:
16. To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
16. "Demain, à cette heure, je t`enverrai un homme du pays de Benjamin, et tu l`oindras pour chef de mon peuple d`Israël. Il sauvera mon peuple de la main des Philistins; car j`ai regardé mon peuple, parce que son cri est venu jusqu`à moi."
16. Rahampitso toy izao dia hampandehaniko ho aty aminao ny lehilahy anankiray avy amin' ny tanin' ny Benjamina, ary hohosoranao ho mpanapaka ny Isiraely oloko izy ka hamonjy azy amin' ny tanan' ny Filistina, fa efa nijery ny oloko Aho, satria efa mby ety amiko ny fitarainany.
17. And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.
17. "Lorsque Samuel eut aperçu Saül, l`Éternel lui dit: Voici l`homme dont je t`ai parlé; c`est lui qui régnera sur mon peuple."
17. "Ary nony hitan' i Samoela i Saoly, dia hoy Jehovah taminy: Indro ny lehilahy voalazako taminao; io no hanjaka amin' ny oloko."
18. Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.
18. Saül s`approcha de Samuel au milieu de la porte, et dit: Indique-moi, je te prie, où est la maison du voyant.
18. Ary nanatona an' i Samoela teo ambavahady i Saoly ka nanao hoe: Masìna ianao, atoroy ahy ny tranon' ny mpahita.
19. And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.
19. Samuel répondit à Saül: C`est moi qui suis le voyant. Monte devant moi au haut lieu, et vous mangerez aujourd`hui avec moi. Je te laisserai partir demain, et je te dirai tout ce qui se passe dans ton coeur.
19. "Ary Samoela namaly an' i Saoly hoe: Izaho no mpahita; miakara eo alohako ho any amin' ny fitoerana avo; fa hiara-mihinana amiko ianareo anio, ary raha maraina dia halefako handeha ianao ka holazaiko aminao izay rehetra ao am-ponao."
20. And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?
20. Ne t`inquiètes pas des ânesses que tu as perdues il y a trois jours, car elles sont retrouvées. Et pour qui est réservé tout ce qu`il y a de précieux en Israël? N`est-ce pas pour toi et pour toute la maison de ton père?
20. "Ary aza mieritreritra ny amin' ny borikinao izay very hateloana, fa efa hita ireny; ary ho an' iza ny zavatra irina rehetra eo amin' ny Isiraely? Tsy ho anao sy ny ankohonan-drainao va?"
21. And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?
21. Saül répondit: Ne suis-je pas Benjamite, de l`une des plus petites tribus d`Israël? et ma famille n`est-elle pas la moindre de toutes les familles de la tribu de Benjamin? Pourquoi donc me parles-tu de la sorte?
21. Dia namaly Saoly ka nanao hoe: Tsy Benjamita va aho, avy amin' ny kely indrindra amin' ireo fokon' ny Isiraely? ary tsy kely indrindra va ny ankohonako eo amin' ny mpianakavin' ny fokon' i Benjamina rehetra? Ka nahoana no miteny amiko toy izany ianao?
22. And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.
22. Samuel prit Saül et son serviteur, les fit entrer dans la salle, et leur donna une place à la tête des conviés, qui étaient environ trente hommes.
22. "Ary nitondra an' i Saoly sy ny mpanompony i Samoela ka nampiditra azy tao amin' ny efitrano fandraisam-bahiny, dia nanome azy toerana aloha teo amin' izay nasaina; ary tokony ho olona telopolo ireo."
23. And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.
23. Samuel dit au cuisinier: Sers la portion que je t`ai donnée, en te disant: Mets-la à part.
23. Ary hoy Samoela tamin' ny mpanao nahandro: Ento ilay anjara nomeko anao, izay efa nolazaiko taminao hoe: Tahirizo ity.
24. And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.
24. "Le cuisinier donna l`épaule et ce qui l`entoure, et il la servit à Saül. Et Samuel dit: Voici ce qui a été réservé; mets-le devant toi, et mange, car on l`a gardé pour toi lorsque j`ai convié le peuple. Ainsi Saül mangea avec Samuel ce jour-là."
24. "Dia nalain' ny mpanao nahandro ny soro-kena mbamin' ny eo aminy ka napetrany teo anoloan' i Saoly; ary hoy Samoela: Indro, izay efa natokana dia voapetraka eto anoloanao, koa hano; fa ho amin' izao fotoana izao no nitahirizana izany ho anao hatramin' izay nanaovako hoe: Efa nanasa ny vahoaka aho. Ary Saoly dia niara-nihinana tamin' i Samoela androtrizay."
25. And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.
25. Ils descendirent du haut lieu à la ville, et Samuel s`entretint avec Saül sur le toit.
25. Ary rehefa nidina avy tao amin' ny fitoerana avo hankany an-tanàna ireo, dia niresaka tamin' i Saoly teo an-tampon-trano i Samoela.
26. And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
26. "Puis ils se levèrent de bon matin; et, dès l`aurore, Samuel appela Saül sur le toit, et dit: Viens, et je te laisserai partir. Saül se leva, et ils sortirent tous deux, lui et Samuel."
26. "Ary nifoha maraina koa izy ireo; Ary izao no niseho: Nony nazavaratsy ny andro, dia niantso an' i Saoly teo an-tampon-trano Samoela ka nanao hoe: Mitsangàna ianao mba havoakako. Dia nitsangana Saoly, ka lasa nivoaka ho any ala-trano izy roa lahy, dia izy sy Samoela."
27. And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on), but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.
27. Quand ils furent descendus à l`extrémité de la ville, Samuel dit à Saül: Dis à ton serviteur de passer devant nous. Et le serviteur passa devant. Arrête-toi maintenant, reprit Samuel, et je te ferai entendre la parole de Dieu.
27. Ary nony nidina teo amin' ny faran' ny tanàna izy, dia hoy Samoela tamin' i Saoly: Ampandehano eo alohantsika ny mpanomponao (dia lasa nandeha izy), fa ianao mijanòna kely hilazako ny tenin' Andriamanitra.
